Each of the function buttons can be assigned any one of the roles listed below. Options for the
selected item can then be displa yed by pressing the button. To choose the roles played by the
function butto ns, press the [DISP/BACK]  button until functi on settings options are displayed, then
highlight the desired button an d press the selector right.

The camera takes a series of pictures, starting before and ending after the shutter button is
pressed. Press the selector  left or right to highlight [BEST FRAME CAPTURE SETTING] , where
you can select the frame rate  and number of shots per burst.

The number on the left is taken  before and the number on the right  after the shutter button
is pressed.
Frames are stored in a temporary memory buffer while the shutter  button is pressed halfway.

To focus at close distances, press the selector up ( [MACRO]) to choose a macro mode from the
options listed below.
At default settings, macro mode selection is assigned to the up  button on the selector
(function button 2). For information on choosing the roles assigned to the function buttons,
see “The Function Buttons”.
Macro mode can also be selected using the  [AUTOFOCUS SETTING] option in the
shooting menu.

The following restrictions apply in super macro mode: the lens must be zoomed out until
the zoom bar turns white an d the flash can not be used.
Use of a tripod is recommended to prevent blur caused by camera  shake.
The shadow cast by the lens may appear in photos taken with the flash at very short
ranges. Zoom out slightly or increase the distance to the subje ct.

The camera offers a choice of a ten-second timer for self-portraits and a two-second timer to
prevent blur caused by camera sh ake. To use the timer, press the selector left ( ) and then press
the selector up or down to highl ight the desired option and press [MENU/OK]  to select.
At default settings, self-timer  selection is assigned to the left button on the selector
(function button 3). For informati on on choosing the roles assigned to the function buttons,
