J Series 1000W and 1200W User Manual5-1020-100706-02 Rev. 1 (03-2014) 5 Maintenance Installers, service trained operators and all other users must maintain a safe operating environment at all times. Read through this section in its entirety and understand all warnings and precautions before attempting to operate this proj ector. Refer to Section 1.2 Safety Warnings and Guidelines. 5.1 Projector Location Operate the projector in an environment that meet s the operating range specifications in Section 7 Specifica- tions . Do not operate the projector close to water, such as near a swimming pool. Do not place the projector on an unst able cart, stand or table. If the projector is going to be ceiling mounted, only use the Christie appr oved ceiling mount fixture designed for your projector. A projector and cart combination should be used with care. Sudden stops, excessive force, and uneven surfaces may cause the projector and ca rt combination to overturn. 5.1.1 Lamp and Filter Replacement Lamp Do not operate the lamp for more than the warranty limit; risk of the lamp shattering increases as a result of changes in the quartz glass that o ccur with use. Operation beyond the la mp warranty limit also significantly reduces brightness output. Wait approximately 5 minutes after powering down the projector to allow the lamp to cool sufficiently before removing. Never attempt to remove the lamp housing directly after use. The lamp is under great pressure when hot and may explode, causing personal injury and/or property damage. Use only lamps supplied by Christie. Lamp Replacement Procedure Choose the correct wattage lamp supplied by Christie. See Table 5.1. Read the lamp replacement procedure in its entirety before proceeding. A Christie accredited service technician must perform lamp replacement. Cool the lamp completely and handle by the housing only. Do not touch the glass window of the lamp. Fingerprints left on the surface can lead to an intense accumulation of heat called a “hotspot,” which could potentially result in lamp failure. It is recommended you wear a face shield when working with the lamp. For this procedure you will need the appropriate Lamp and Filter Kit manufactured by Christie Digital Systems. See Ta b l e 5 . 1. See Table 5.1. The filter located at the front side of the projector and should be repl aced whenever the lamp is replaced. If you are working in an extremely dusty environment you may want to replace the filter sooner. If this filter is not replaced, airflow may become restricted and cause the projector to overheat.Use the filter provided in the Christie approved Lamp and Filter Kit for yo ur specific projector model. See Table 5.1. 1. TURN OFF THE PROJECTOR, COOL AND UNPLUG Before removing or installing a filter, turn off the projector and allow it to cool for 5 minutes before unplugging. 2.
