APPENDIX 241 Using the USB Cradle to Connect to a Computer You can place the camera onto the USB cradle and connect the cradle to a computer to view images or to transfer them to the computer. IMPORTANT! •Low battery power can cause the camera to power down suddenly during data communication. Use of the special AC adaptor is recommended to power the camera during data communication. [DC IN 5.3V] Using the Camera with a Windows Computer 1.Connect the bundled AC adaptor to the [DC IN 5.3V] connector of the USB cradle, and then plug it in to a household power outlet. •If you are using battery power without the AC adaptor, make sure that the battery is fully charged. USB ports and cable plugs are shaped for proper positioning. •Plug the USB cable plugs into the ports securely, as far as they will go. Proper operation is not possible if connections are not correct. 2.Connect the USB cable that comes bundled with the camera to the USB cradle and your computer’s USB port. You do not need to install the USB driver every time. After you install it once, your computer will recognize the camera’s built-in memory or its memory card when you establish a USB connection between the camera and your computer. •Pressing the [USB] button enters the USB mode, which causes the USB cradle’s [USB] lamp to light green. •At this point, some operating systems will display a “Removable Disk” dialog box. If your operating system does, close the dialog box. Windows 2000/Me Users •Click card services in the task tray on your computer screen, and disable the drive number assigned to the camera.
