Print Head Deep Cleaning 81 Routine Maintenance Macintosh 1Ensure the printer is on. 2Open the Page Setup dialog box. The Page Setup dialog box can normally be opened by selecting Page Setup... in the File menu. 3Click the Utilities button to open the Printer Utility dialog box. 4Select Cleaning from the pull-down menu, and then click the Deep Cleaning icon. 5Select the ink nozzles to be cleaned, and click OK. All Colors: All nozzles Black: Black ink nozzles Color: Color ink nozzles Now the POWER lamp starts ßashing and print head deep cleaning begins. The process takes one or two minutes to complete, so simply wait until the POWER lamp stops ßashing.
Print Head Deep Cleaning 82 Routine Maintenance After print head deep cleaning Þnishes, print the nozzle check pattern to verify that the head is clean. If not, check that there are sufÞcient ink levels in all ink tanks before turning off printer. Be sure to perform another print head deep cleaning 24 hours after turning off printer. Cleaning the Paper Feed Roller 83 Routine Maintenance Cleaning the Paper Feed Roller If paper does not feed properly, clean the paper feed roller. 1Ensure the printer is turned on. If any paper is loaded in the printer, remove the paper. 2Hold down the RESUME/CANCEL button; when the POWER lamp ßashes three times, release the RESUME/CANCEL button. The paper roller will rotate as it cleans. Repeat this operation three times. 3Load a sheet of A4 or Letter plain paper in the printer. 4Hold down the RESUME/CANCEL button; when the POWER lamp ßashes three times, release the RESUME/CANCEL button. The paper that is loaded in the printer will feed through the printer and be ejected. Repeat this operation three times. If the printer still will not feed paper through even after cleaning the paper feed roller, perform the procedure described in step 4 again.
Transporting the Printer 84 Routine Maintenance Transporting the Printer Pack the printer carefully in its original packing materials. If you do not have the original packing materials, pack the printer carefully and thoroughly in protective material and place inside a sturdy box. 1Turn the printer off. 2Ensure that the POWER lamp is off and unplug the printer. ImportantäDo not unplug the printer while the POWER lamp is lit or flashing to protect the printer from damage.
