141 Before Use Basic Guide Advanced Guide Camera Basics Auto Mode Other Shooting Modes P Mode Playback Mode Wi-Fi Functions Setting Menu Accessories Appendix Index Hybrid Auto / Dual Capture Mode Adding Comments Using the camera, you can add comments to images that you send to e-mail addresses, social networking services, etc. The number of characters and symbols that can be entered may differ depending on the Web service. 1 Access the screen for adding comments. zPress the buttons to choose [], and then press the button. 2 Add a comment (= 27). 3 Send the image. zFollow the steps in “Sending Images Individually” ( = 139) to send the image. • When a comment is not entered, the comment set in CANON iMAGE GATEWAY is automatically sent. • Up to 50 images can be sent together at once. One movie up to five minut\ es (or one digest movie up to 13 minutes) can be sent. However, Web services may limit the number of images or length of movies you can send. For det\ ails, refer to the Web service you are using. • Y ou can also choose images in step 2 by moving the zoom lever twice towar\ d to access single-image display and then pressing the < q> buttons. • In step 3, you can choose the desired resolution (size) of your images\ before sending ( = 47).

Refer to “Software Instruction Manual” ( = 169) for details. • Windows 7: If the screen in step 2 is not displayed, click the [] icon in the taskbar. • Mac OS: If CameraWindow is not displayed, click the [CameraWindow] icon \ in the Dock. • Although you can save images to a computer simply by connecting your camera to the computer without using the software, the following limitat\ ions apply . - It may take a few minutes after you connect the camera to the computer u\ ntil camera images are accessible. - Images shot in vertical orientation may be saved in horizontal orientati\ on. - Image protection settings may be cleared from images saved to a computer\ . - Some problems may occur when saving images or image information, depending on the operating system version, the software in use, or image\ file sizes. - Some functions provided by the software may not be available, such as movie editing. Saving Images to a Computer When sending images to a computer, use the computer instead of the camera. Windows 7 and Mac OS X 10.8 are used here for the sake of illustration. For other functions, refer to the help system of the relevant software (\ some software excluded). 1 Display CameraWindow. zWindows: Access CameraWindow by clicking [Downloads Images From Canon Camera]. zMac OS: CameraWindow is automatically displayed when a Wi-Fi connection is established between the camera and computer. 2 Import images. zClick [Import Images from Camera], and then click [Import Untransferred Images]. zImages are now saved to the Pictures folder on the computer, in separate folders named by date. zClick [OK] in the screen that is displayed after image import is complete. For instructions on viewing images on a computer, refer to “Software Instruction Manual” ( = 169).

(This screen will close in about one minute.) zYou can now use the smartphone to import images from the camera. (The camera cannot be used to send images to the smartphone.) zUse the smartphone to end the connection; the camera will automatically turn off. zFrom now on, you can simply press the button to connect to the registered smartphone. Using the Button Once you have registered a smartphone or Image Sync ( = 145) to the button, you can connect to the registered destination simply by pressing the button. Registering a Smartphone to the Button Once you have connected to a smartphone initially via Wi-Fi by pressing \ the button, you can simply press the button after that to connect again for viewing and saving camera images on connected devices. 1 Press the button. 2 Choose the destination. zPress the buttons to choose [], and then press the < m> button.

For details on Image Sync, see “Sending Images Automatically (Image Sync)” ( = 145). 1 Prepare the camera. zRegister [] as the destination (= 121 – 122). zInstall the software on the destination computer, and configure the camera settings (= 145). 2 Press the button. 3 Choose the destination. zPress the buttons to choose [], and then press the button. zThe camera will automatically reconnect to any previous access points and send the images (= 145). zFrom now on, you can simply press the button to send images. • When you are in the vicinity of an access point that you have previously connected to, the camera will automatically connect to it in step 2. To change access points, select [Switch Network] from the screen that will be displayed when the connection is being established, and follow steps 5 – 9 in “Connecting to WPS- Compatible Access Points” ( = 130). • All images in the camera can be viewed from the connected smartphone. Note that if you have assigned the < > button, [View Settings] (= 149) is not available. • One smartphone can be registered to the button. If you wish to register a different smartphone, clear the one currently registered (= 145) first.

Note that images cannot be sent only to Web services. Initial Preparations Install and configure the software on the destination computer. 1 Install the software. zInstall the software on a computer connected to the Internet (= 125). 2 Register the camera. zWindows: In the taskbar, right-click [], and then click [Add new camera]. zMac OS: In the menu bar, click [], and then click [Add new camera]. zA list of cameras linked to CANON iMAGE GATEWAY ( = 121) is displayed. Choose the camera from which images are to be sent. zOnce the camera is registered and the computer is ready to receive images, the icon changes to [ ]. Clearing Registered Destinations zPress the button and choose [Mobile Device Connect Button] on the [3] tab ( = 26). zPress the buttons to choose [OK], and then press the button. zAfter a confirmation message is displayed, press the < m> button. • Registered destinations are also cleared when you reset Wi-Fi settings (= 150).

If the computer that you intend to send images to is turned off, the images will be stored temporarily on the CANON iMAGE GATEWAY server. Stored images are regularly erased, so make sure to turn on the computer and save the images. zFollow the steps in “Connecting to WPS- Compatible Access Points” ( = 130) to choose []. zOnce the connection is established, the images are sent. zWhen the images have been sent successfully to the CANON iMAGE GATEWAY server, [ ] is displayed on the screen. zImages are automatically saved to the computer when you turn it on. zImages are automatically sent to Web services from the CANON iMAGE GATEWAY server, even if the computer is off. • When sending images, you should use a fully charged battery pack or an AC adapter kit (sold separately, = 162). 3 Choose the type of images to send (only when sending movies with images). zPress the button, and then choose [Wi-Fi Settings] on the [3] tab (= 26). zPress the buttons to choose [Image Sync], and then press the buttons to choose [Stills/ Movies]. • To choose a Web service as the destination, follow the steps in “Registering Other Web Services” (= 123) to update the camera settings.

Images are tagged with information including the latitude, longitude, and elevation\ . • Before shooting, make sure the date and time and your home time zone are set correctly. (See “Setting the Date and Time” ( = 15).) Additionally, in [Time Zone] ( = 153), specify any shooting destinations that are in other time zones. • The smartphone you will use for geotagging must be authorized to view the images on the camera ( = 132, 136). • Others may be able to locate or identify you by using location data in your geotagged still images or movies. Be careful when sharing these images with others, as when posting images online where many others can view them. • Even if images were imported to the computer through a different method, any images not sent to the computer via CANON iMAGE GATEWAY will be sent to the computer. • Sending is faster when the destination is a computer on the same network\ as the camera, because images are sent via the access point instead of CANON iMAGE GA TEWA Y . Note that images stored on the computer are sent to CANON iMAGE GATEWAY, so the computer must be connected to the Internet.

However, some FUNC. and MENU settings you have configured in advance may be changed automatically. • Movie shooting is not available. • In camera settings, the smartphone must be allowed to view camera images ( = 132, 136). • Any jerky subject motion shown on the smartphone due to the connection environment will not affect recorded images. • No AF frames are displayed. Capture a test image to check the focus. • Captured images are not transferred to the smartphone. Use the smartphon\ e to browse and import images from the camera. • Remote control is also possible from the smartphone assigned to the < > button (= 143). Shooting Remotely As you check a shooting screen on your smartphone, you can use it to shoot remotely. 1 Secure the camera. zOnce remote shooting begins, the camera lens will come out. Lens motion from zooming may also move the camera out of position. Keep the camera still by mounting it on a tripod or taking other measures. 2 Connect the camera and smartphone (= 11 9 ). zIn the privacy settings (= 132, 136 ), choose [Yes]. 3 Choose remote shooting. zIn CameraWindow ( = 124) on the smartphone, choose remote shooting. zThe camera lens will come out. Do not press near the lens, and make sure no objects will obstruct it. zOnce the camera is ready for remote shooting, a live image from the camera will be displayed on the smartphone. zAt this time, a message is displayed on the camera, and all operations except pressing the ON/OFF button are disabled.

Use the keyboard displayed to enter a new nickname ( = 27). Editing or Erasing Wi-Fi Settings Edit or erase Wi-Fi settings as follows. Editing Connection Information 1 Access the Wi-Fi menu (= 128 ). 2 Choose a device to edit. zPress the buttons to choose the icon of the device to edit, and then press the button. 3 Choose [Edit a Device]. zPress the buttons to choose [Edit a Device], and then press the button. 4 Choose a device to edit. zPress the buttons to choose the device to edit, and then press the button.

Be sure that you want to reset all Wi-Fi settings before using this option. • To reset other settings (aside from Wi-Fi) to defaults, choose [Reset All] in the [3] tab (= 159). Erasing Connection InformationErase connection information (information about devices that you have connected to) as follows. zFollowing step 5 in “Editing Connection Information” (= 149), choose [Erase Connection Info] and press the < m> button. zAfter [Erase?] is displayed, press the buttons to choose [OK], and then press the button. zThe connection information will be erased. Returning the Wi-Fi Settings to Default Return the Wi-Fi settings to default if you transfer ownership of the ca\ mera to another person, or dispose of it. 1 Choose [Wi-Fi Settings]. zPress the button, and then choose [Wi-Fi Settings] on the [3] tab (= 26).
