111 Before Use Basic Guide Advanced Guide Camera Basics Auto Mode Other Shooting Modes P Mode Playback Mode Wi-Fi Functions Setting Menu Accessories Appendix Index Hybrid Auto / Dual Capture Mode • For some images, correction may be inaccurate or may cause images to appear grainy. • Images may look grainy after repeated editing using this function. • If [Auto] does not produce the expected results, try correcting images u\ sing [Low], [Medium], or [High]. • You can also configure this setting by touching [ q][r] on the screen in step 3. Still Images Correcting Red-Eye Automatically corrects images affected by red-eye. You can save the corrected image as a separate file. 1 Choose [Red-Eye Correction]. zPress the button, and then choose [Red-Eye Correction] on the [ 1] tab (= 26). 2 Choose an image. zPress the buttons to choose an image. 3 Correct the image. zPress the button. zRed-eye detected by the camera is now corrected, and frames are displayed around corrected image areas. zEnlarge or reduce images as needed. Follow the steps in “Magnifying Images” (= 95). 4 Save as a new image and review. zPress the buttons to choose [New File], and then press the button. zThe image is now saved as a new file. zFollow step 5 in “Resizing Images” (= 108). • Some images may not be corrected accurately. • To overwrite the original image with the corrected image, choose [Overwrite] in step 4. In this case, the original image will be erased. • Protected images cannot be overwritten. • You can save images by touching [New File] or [Overwrite] on the screen i\ n step 4.

Cut the beginning of the movie (from []) by choosing [], and cut the end of the movie by choosing []. zIf you move [] to a position other than a [] mark, in [] the portion before the nearest [] mark on the left will be cut, while in [] the portion after the nearest [] mark on the right will be cut. Movie Editing Panel Movie Editing Bar 3 Review the edited movie. zPress the buttons to choose [], and then press the button. The edited movie is now played. zTo edit the movie again, repeat step 2. zTo cancel editing, press the < o> buttons to choose []. Press the < m> button, press the buttons to choose [OK], and then press the button again. 4 Save the edited movie. zPress the buttons to choose [], and then press the button. zPress the buttons to choose [New File], and then press the button. zThe movie is now saved as a new file. zChoose [Save w/o Comp.], and then press the button.

In this case, the original movie will be erased. • If the memory card lacks sufficient space, only [Overwrite] will be available. • Movies may not be saved if the battery pack runs out while saving is in progress. • When editing movies, you should use a fully charged battery pack or an AC adapter kit (sold separately, = 162). Reducing File Sizes Movie file sizes can be reduced by compressing movies as follows. zOn the screen in step 2 of “Editing Movies”, choose []. Choose [New File], and then press the < m> button. zChoose [Compress & Sav.], and then press the button. • Compressed movies are saved in [] format. • [] movies cannot be compressed. • Edited movies cannot be saved in compressed format when you choose [Overwrite]. • However, you can compress and save edited movies as new files by choosing [Compress & Sav .]. Movies Editing Digest Movies Individual chapters (clips) ( = 55) recorded in [] mode can be erased, as needed. Be careful when erasing clips, because they cannot be recovered. 1 Select the clip to erase. zFollow steps 1 – 2 in “Viewing Short Movies Created When Shooting Still Images (Digest Movies)” ( = 90) to play a movie created in [] mode, and then press the button to access the movie control panel. zPress the buttons to choose [] or [], and then press the button. 2 Choose []. zPress the buttons to choose [], and then press the button. zThe selected clip is played back repeatedly. 3 Confirm erasure. zPress the buttons to choose [OK], and then press the button. zThe clip is erased, and the short movie is overwritten. • [] is not displayed if you select a clip when the camera is connected to \ a printer.

Still ImagesMovies Viewing Albums (Stor y Highlights) You can create an album of automatically selected images organized by dates or people’s names. These images are combined into a slideshow that can be saved as a short movie of about 2 – 3 minutes. Before using this feature, make sure the battery pack is fully charged. Choosing Themes for Albums Press the < > button to access the home screen and choose themes for the camera to use when selecting album elements. Tagging images as favorites makes it easier to add them when creating albums ( = 104). DateCreates an album of images shot on the same day. The current image before you access the home screen serves as the basis for the others selected, which are shot on the same day. Person’s name Can be used to create monthly albums of people, such as albums of children as they grow up. Subjects whose Face ID information you registered before shooting may be selected for albums. Subjects in the current image before you access the home screen serve as the basis for others selected, which are shot in the same month. Event A good choice for albums of vacations, parties, or other events. Creates albums of event shots older or newer than the image selected before you access the home screen. Custom Images based on your specified image, shooting date, or people.

Press the buttons to choose a color ef fect, and then press the button to preview the album with the ef fect. • You can also play albums by choosing [List of Albums] on the Story Highlights home screen, pressing the < m> button, choosing a listed album, and pressing the < m> button again. • When the lens is out, you can retract it quickly by pressing the < > button.

The second time you create a custom album, [Select images based on previous setting\ s?] is displayed. To use previously selected images as the basis, choose [Yes]. The previous images are labeled with [ ], and multiple images are displayed at once. • Up to 15 dates can be selected if you choose [Date Selection]. • After the preview, you can change the color effect by choosing [Change Color Ef fect]. The screen in step 4 is displayed again. • The color ef fect may not be applied to some images.
