Adjusting Intensity 
You can dilute (brighten) or intensify (darken) the  colors of the overall image data during printing.
The following sample shows the case when the intens ity is increased so that all colors become more
intense when the image data is printed. 
No adjustment  Higher intensity 
The procedure for adjusting intensity is as follows : 
You can also set intensity on the Quick Setup tab b y choosing Photo Printing under Commonly Used
Settings, and then choosing Color/Intensity Manual  Adjustment under Additional Features. 
1.Open the printer driver setup window
2.
Select the manual color adjustment  
Select Manual for Color/Intensity on the Main tab, an d click Set.... 
The Manual Color Adjustment dialog box opens. 
3.Adjust intensity  
Moving the Intensity slider to the right intensifies (darkens) the colors. Moving the slider to the left
dilutes (brightens) the colors. 
You can also directly enter a value linked to the slide r. Enter a value in the range from -50 to 50. The
current settings are displayed in the settings prev iew on the left side of the printer driver.

							Important 
Adjust the slider gradually. 
4.Complete the setup  
Click OK on the Main tab. 
W hen you execute print, the image data is printed with the adjusted intensity.

Adjusting Contrast 
You can adjust the image contrast during printing. 
To make the differences between the light and dark  portions of images greater and more distinct,
increase the contrast. On the other hand, to make t he differences between the light and dark portions of
images smaller and less distinct, reduce the contra st. 
No adjustment Adjust the contrast 
The procedure for adjusting contrast is as follows:  
You can also set contrast on the Quick Setup tab by  choosing Photo Printing under Commonly Used
Settings, and then choosing Color/Intensity Manual  Adjustment under Additional Features.

Simulating an Illustration 
This feature is unavailable when the XPS printer dr iver is used. 
W ith the Simulate Illustration function, you can print  full-color or 256-color image data so that it looks like
a hand-drawn illustration. This function adds diffe rent effects to the original profile and colors. 
The procedure for performing Simulate Illustration  is as follows: 
1.Open the printer driver setup window
2.
Set the Simulate Illustration  
If necessary, check the Simulate Illustration check box on  the Effects tab, and adjust the Contrast.
Moving the slider to the right lightens the image d ata and moving the slider to the left darkens the
image data. 
The current settings are displayed in the settings  preview on the left side of the printer driver. 
3.Complete the setup  
Click OK. 
W hen you execute print, the image will be printed so t hat it looks hand-drawn.

Representing Image Data with a Single Color 
This feature is unavailable when the XPS printer dr iver is used. 
W ith the Monochrome Effects function, you can benefit fr om coloring effects such as changing a
photograph to a sepia tone image. 
The procedure for performing Monochrome Effects is  as follows: 
1.Open the printer driver setup window
2.
Set Monochrome Effects  
Check the Monochrome Effects check box on the Effec ts tab and select your desired color.
W hen you use Select Color, move the Color slider to spe cify the color you want.
The current settings are displayed in the settings  preview on the left side of the printer driver. 
3.Complete the setup  
Click OK.

This feature is unavailable when the XPS printer dr iver is used. 
The Vivid Photo function allows you to print image da ta with vivid colors.
The vivid photo function emphasizes the colors in b ackground sceneries while maintaining the human
skin color natural. By using this function, you can make  vivid hues appear even more vivid. 
The procedure for performing Vivid Photo is as follows: 
You can also set vivid photos on the Quick Setup ta b by choosing Photo Printing under Commonly Used
Settings, and then choosing Additional Features. 
1.Open the printer driver setup window
2.
Set Vivid Photo  
Check the Vivid Photo check box on the Effects tab. 
3.Complete the setup  
Click OK. 
W hen you execute print, the image will be printed wi th vivid colors.

Smoothing Jagged Outlines 
This feature is unavailable when the XPS printer dr iver is used. 
The Image Optimizer function reduces the jagged out lines that are produced when photos and graphics
are enlarged with your application. It allows you t o print smooth outlines. This feature is especially useful
when printing low-resolution images from W eb pages.  
The procedure for performing Image Optimizer is as follows: 
1.Open the printer driver setup window
2.
Set image optimizer  
Check the Image Optimizer check box on the Effects tab. 
3.Complete the setup  
Click OK. 
The photos and graphics will be adjusted and printe d with smooth outlines. 
Note 
Depending on application software or resolution of image data, the image optimizer may have no
