bPlaten Glass
Place originals here when scanning books, 
heavyweight originals, thin originals, transparencies, etc.

The machine is provided with two power switches, a main power switch and a 
control panel power switch.
How to Turn ON the Main Power
This section explains how to turn ON the main power.

Control Panel Power Switch
NOTE
•The machine will not enter the Sleep mode if it is scanning or printing. (See Chapter 3, 
“Useful Functions and Settings,” in the Reference Guide.)
• The machine can receive and print documents from a computer when it is in the Sleep 
mode.
To turn the control panel ON or OFF, press

Setting Up the Connection
This section describes how to connect the machine to a computer or network, and 
the types of connection and cables available for use.
The machine can be connected to a computer with a USB cable, or to a network 
with a 10BASE-T/100BASE-TX LAN cable.

•External USB devices (i.e. memory, keyboard, mouse, etc.) are not supported.

Connecting to a USB Interface
You can connect the machine to a computer with a USB port via a USB cable. The 
machine is USB 2.0 high-speed* compatible. The drivers, USB class driver, and 
utility that matches the operating system on your computer must be installed. For 
more information on installing the driver through USB connection, see the Printer

•If the machine is connected to a computer via the USB cable, you will not be able to use 
certain utilities.
