181 You can edit out the first and last scenes of a movie in 1-sec. increments. 1On the movie playback screen, select [X]. The editing screen wi ll be displayed. 2Specify the parts to be edited out. Select either [ ] (Cut beginning) or [ ] (Cut end), then press < 0>. Tilt < 9> to the left or right to fast forward or turn the < 5> dial (Next frame) to specify the part to be edited out, then press < 0>. The portion highlighted in blue on the top of the screen is what will remain. 3Check the editing. Select [7] and press to playback the portion highlighted in blue. To change the editing, go back to step 2. To cancel the editing, select [ ] and press < 0>. 4Save the movie. Select [ ], then press < 0>. The save screen will appear. To save it as a new movie, select [New file]. Or to save it and overwrite the original movie file, select [ Overwrite]. Then press . X Editing the Movie’s First and Last Scenes If the card does not have enough space to save the movie, only [ Overwrite] can be selected.
182 You can playback the images in the card as an automatic slide show. 1Select [Slide show]. Under the [4 ] tab, select [Slide show ], then press < 0>. 2Select the images to be played back. Turn the < 5> dial to select the item, then press < 0>. All images/Movies/Stills Turn the dial to select one of the following: [ jAll images], [kMovies] or [zStills]. Then press . Date/Folder/Rating Turn the < 5> dial to select one of the following: [i Date], [nFolder ] or [9 Rating ]. When < z > is displayed brightly, press the < B> button. 183 3 Slide Show (Auto Playback) 3Set the play time and repeat option. Turn the < 5> dial to select [ Set up], then press < 0>. For still photos, set the [ Play time] and [Repeat ] options, then press the < M > button. 4Start the slide show. Turn the < 5> dial to select [ Start], then press < 0>. After [Loading image...] is displayed for a few seconds, the slide show will start. 5Quit the slide show. To quit the slide show and return to the setting screen, press the < M> button. [Play time][Repeat] To pause the slide show, press < 0>. During pause, [ G] will be displayed on the upper left of the image. Press < 0> again to resume the slide show. During auto playback, you can press the < B> button to change the still photo display format. During movie playback, you can adjust the sound volume by turning the . During pause, you can turn the or dial to view another image. During the slide show, auto power off will not work. The display time may vary depending on the image. 184 You can also view the still photos and movies on a TV set. Before connecting or disconnecting the cable between the camera and television, turn off the camera and television. * Adjust the movie’s sound volume with the TV set.* Depending on the TV set, part of the image displayed might be cut off. 1Connect the provided AV cable to the camera. Connect the AV cable to the camera’s terminal. With the plug’s logo facing the back of the camera, insert it into the < q /C > terminal. 2Connect the AV cable to the TV set. Connect the AV cable to the TV’s video IN terminal and to the audio IN terminal. 3Turn on the TV and switch the TV’s video input to select the connected port. 4Set the camera’s power switch to . 5Press the button. The image will appear on the TV screen. (Nothing will be displayed on the camera’s LCD monitor.) To playback movies, see page 179. Viewing the Images on TV Viewing on Non-HD (High-Definition) TV Sets (Red) (White) (Yellow) If the video system format does not match the TV’s, the images will not be displayed properly. Set the proper video system format with [6 Video system]. Do not use any AV cable other than the one provided. Images might not be displayed if you use a different cable.
185 Viewing the Images on TV The HDMI Cable HTC-100 (sold separately) is required. 1Connect the HDMI cable to the camera. Connect the HDMI cable to the camera’s < D > terminal. With the plug’s < dHDMI MINI> logo facing the front of the camera, insert it into the < D > terminal. 2Connect the HDMI cable to the TV set. Connect the HDMI cable to the TV’s HDMI IN port. 3Turn on the TV and switch the TV’s video input to select the connected port. 4Set the camera’s power switch to . 5Press the button. The image will appear on the TV screen. (Nothing will be displayed on the camera’s LCD monitor.) The images will be displayed at the TV’s optimum resolution automatically. By pressing the < B> button, you can change the display format. To playback movies, see page 179. Viewing on HD (High-Definition) TV Sets Do not connect any other device’s output to the camera’s < D> terminal. Doing so may cause a malfunction. Some TVs might not be able to display the captured images. In such a case, use the provided AV cable to connect to the TV. The camera’s < q/C > terminal and < D> terminal cannot be used at the same time.
186 Protecting the image prevents it from being erased accidentally. 1Select [Protect images]. Under the [3 ] tab, select [Protect images], then press < 0>. The protect setting screen will appear. 2Select the image and protect it. Turn the < 5> dial to select the image to be protected, then press < 0 >. When an image is protected, the icon will appear on the screen. To cancel the image protection, press again. The icon will disappear. To protect another image, repeat step 2. To exit the image protection, press the < M > button. The menu will reappear. K Protecting Images Image protect icon If you format the card (p.45) , the protected images will also be erased. Once an image is protected, it cannot be erased by the camera’s erase function. To erase a protected image, you must first cancel the protection. If you erase all the images (p.188), only the protected images will remain. This is convenient when you want to erase unnecessary images all at once.
187 You can either select and erase images one by one or erase them in one batch. Protected images (p.186) will not be erased. Once an image is erased, it cannot be recovered. Make sure you no longer need the image before erasing it. To prevent important images from being erased accidentally, protect it. Erasing a RAW+JPEG image will erase both the RAW and JPEG images. 1Playback the image to be erased. 2Press the button. The erase menu will appear at the bottom of the screen. 3Erase the image. Turn the < 5> dial to select [ Erase], then press < 0>. The image displayed will be erased. By checkmarking the images to be erased, you can erase multiple images at one time. 1Select [Erase images]. 188 L Erasing Images 2Select [Select and erase images]. Turn the < 5> dial to select [ Select and erase images], then press < 0 >. The image will be displayed. To display the three-image view, press the < I> button. To return to the single-image display, press the < u > button. 3Select the images to be erased. Turn the < 5> dial to select the image to be erased, then press < 0 >. The < X> icon will be displayed on the upper left. To erase other images, repeat step 3. 4Erase the image. Press the < L> button. Turn the < 5> dial to select [ OK], then press < 0>. The selected images will be erased. You can erase all the images in a folder or card at one time. When the [3 Erase images ] menu is set to [ All images in folder ] or [All images on card ], all the images in the folder or card will be erased. 3 Erasing All Images in a Folder or Card To also erase protected images, format the card (p.45).
189 The LCD monitor’s brightness is adjusted automatically for optimum viewing. You can set the automatic adjustment’s brightness level (brighter or darker) or adjust the brightness manually. 1Select [LCD brightness]. Under the [6 ] tab, select [LCD brightness ], then press < 0>. 2Select [Auto] or [Manual]. Turn the < 6> dial to make the selection. 3 Adjust the brightness. While referring to the gray chart, turn the < 5> dial, then press . You can adjust [ Auto] to one of three levels, and [Manual] to one of seven levels. Changing Image Pl ayback Settings 3 Adjusting the LCD Monitor Brightness Automatic adjustment Manual adjustment While [ Auto] is set, be careful not to obstruct the round, external light sensor on the right of the LCD monitor with your finger, etc. To check the image’s exposure, you should look at the histogram (p.168).
190 Changing Image Playback Settings Vertical images are rotated automatically so they are displayed vertically on the camera’s LCD monitor and computer instead of horizontally. The setting of this feature can be changed. 1Select [Auto rotate]. Under the [5 ] tab, select [Auto rotate ], then press < 0>. 2Set the auto rotate. Turn the < 5> dial to select the setting, then press < 0>. OnzD The vertical image is automatically rotated on both the camera’s LCD monitor and on the personal computer. OnD The vertical image is automatical ly rotated only on the personal computer. Off The vertical image is not rotated. 3 Auto Rotation of Vertical Images Auto rotate will not work with vertical images captured while Auto rotate was set to [ Off]. They will not rotate even if you later switch it to [ On] for playback. Immediately after image capture, the vertical image will not be automatically rotated for the image review. If the vertical image is taken while the camera is pointed up or down, the image might not rotate automatically for playback. If the vertical image is not automatically rotated on the personal computer screen, it means the software you are using is unable to rotate the image. Using the provided software is recommended.
