261 You can view the still photos and movies on a TV set. HDMI Cable HTC-100 (sold separately) is required. 1Connect the HDMI cable to the camera. With the plug’s < dHDMI MINI > logo facing the front of the camera, insert it into the < D > terminal. 2Connect the HDMI cable to the TV set. Connect the HDMI cable to the TV’s HDMI IN port. 3Turn on the TV and switch the TV’s video input to select the connected port. 4Set the camera’s power switch to . Viewing the Images on TV Viewing on High-Definition (HD) TV Sets (Connected with HDMI) Adjust the movie’s sound volume wi th the TV set. The sound volume cannot be adjusted with the camera. Before connecting or disconnectin g the cable between the camera and TV set, turn off the camera and TV set. Depending on the TV se t, part of the image displayed may be cut off. COPY
Viewing the Images on TV 262 5Press the button. XThe image will appear on the TV screen. (Nothing will be displayed on the camera’s LCD monitor.) The images will automatically be displayed at the TV’s optimum resolution. By pressing the < B> button, you can change the display format. To play back movies, see page 253. If the TV set connected to the camera with an HDMI cable is compatible with HDMI CEC*, you can use the TV set’s remote control for playback operations. * An HDMI-standard function enabling HDMI devices to co ntrol each other so that you can control them with one remote control unit. 1Set [Ctrl over HDMI] to [Enable]. Under the [ 33] tab, select [ Ctrl over HDMI ], then press < 0>. Select [Enable ], then press . Using HDMI CEC TV Sets The images cannot be output at the same time from both the and < q > terminals. Do not connect any ot her device’s output to the camera’s terminal. Doing so ma y cause a malfunction. Certain TVs may not be able to play back the captured images. In such a case, use the provided AV ca ble to connect to the TV. COPY
263 Viewing the Images on TV 2Connect the camera to a TV set. Use an HDMI cable to connect the camera to the TV. XThe TV’s input will switch automatically to the HDMI port connected to the camera. 3Press the camera’s < x> button. XAn image will appear on the TV screen and you can use the TV’s remote control to play back images. 4Select an image. Point the remote control toward the TV set and press the / button to select an image. 5Press the remote control’s Enter button. XThe menu appears and you can perform the playback operations shown on the left. Press the / button to select the desired option, then press the Enter button. For a slide show, press the remote control’s / button to select an option, then press the Enter button. If you select [ Return] and press the Enter button, the menu will disappear and you can use the / button to select an image. For details, refer to the TV set’s instruction manual. Certain TV sets, even those comp atible with HDMI CEC, may not operate properly. With the plug’s < Canon> logo facing the back of the camera, insert it into the < q > terminal. 2Connect the AV cable to the TV set. Connect the AV cable to the TV’s video IN terminal and audio IN terminal. 3Turn on the TV and switch the TV’s video input to select the connected port. 4Set the camera’s power switch to . 5Press the < x> button. XThe image will appear on the TV screen. (Nothing will be displayed on the camera’s LCD monitor.) To play back movies, see page 253. Viewing on Non-HD TV Sets (Connected with AV Cable) AUDIO VIDEO (Red) (White) (Yellow) Do not use any AV cable other than the one provided. Images may not be displayed if you use a different cable. If the video system format does not match the TV’s, the images will not be displayed properly. If this happens, switch to the proper video system format with [ 53: Video system]. COPY
265 Protecting an image prevents it from being erased accidentally. 1Select [Protect images]. Under the [ 31] tab, select [Protect images ], then press < 0>. 2Select [Select images]. Select [Select images ], then press < 0 >. XThe images will be displayed. 3Protect the image. Turn the < 5> dial to select the image to be protected, then press < 0 >. XThe image will be protected, and the icon will appear at the top of the screen. To cancel the image protection, press again. The < K> icon will disappear. To protect another image, repeat step 3. K Protecting Images 266 You can protect all the images in a folder or on a card at one time. When you select [All images in folder ] or [ All images on card ] in [x1: Protect images], all the images in the folder or on the card will be protected. To cancel the image protection, select [Unprotect all images in folder ] or [Unprotect all images on card ]. 3 Protecting All Images in a Folder or on a Card If you format the card (p.53), the protected images will also be erased. Movies can also be protected. Once an image is protected, it cann ot be erased by the camera’s erase function. To erase a protected im age, you must first cancel the protection. If you erase all the images (p.26 8), only the protected images will remain. This is convenient when you want to erase unnecessary images all at once. COPY
267 You can either select and erase images one by one or erase them in one batch. Protected images (p.265) will not be erased. Once an image is erased, it cann ot be recovered. Make sure you no longer need the image before erasing it. To prevent important images from being erased accidentally, protect them. Erasing a RAW+JPEG image will erase both the RAW and JPEG images. 1Play back the image to be erased. 2Press the < L> button. XThe Erase menu will appear at the bottom of the screen. 3Erase the image. Select [ Erase], then press < 0>. The image displayed will be erased. By appending checkmarks < X> to the images to be erased, you can erase multiple images at one time. 1Select [Erase images]. If you press the < u> button and turn the < 6> dial counterclockwise, you can select an image from a three- image display. To return to the single- image display, turn the < 6> dial clockwise. 3Select the images to be erased. Turn the < 5> dial to select the image to be erased, then press < 0 >. XA checkmark < X> will be displayed on the upper left of the screen. To select other images to be erased, repeat step 3. 4Erase the image. Press the < L> button. Select [OK ], then press < 0>. XThe selected images will be erased. You can erase all the images in a fol der or on a card at one time. When [31: Erase images ] is set to [All images in folder ] or [All images on card ], all the images in the folder or on the card will be erased. 3 Erasing All Images in a Folder or on a Card To also erase protected imag es, format the card (p.53). 269 You can adjust the brightness of the LCD monitor to make it easier to read. 1Select [LCD brightness]. Under the [ 52] tab, select [ LCD brightness ], then press < 0>. 2Adjust the brightness. While referring to the gray chart, press the < U> key, then press < 0 >. Changing Image Playback Settings 270 Vertical images are rotated automatically so they are displayed vertically on the camera’s LCD monitor and on the computer instead of horizontally. You can change the setting for this feature. 1Select [Auto rotate]. Under the [ 51] tab, select [ Auto rotate], then press < 0>. 2Set the auto rotation. Select the desired option, then press . OnzD The vertical image is automatically rotated during playback on both the camera’s LCD monitor and on the computer. OnD The vertical image is automatically rotated only on the computer. Off The vertical image is not automatically rotated. 3 Auto Rotation of Vertical Images Auto rotation will not work with vertical images captured while auto rotation was [ Off]. They will not rotate even if you later switch it to [On] for playback. Immediately after image capture, the vertical image will not be automatically rotated for the image review. If the vertical image is taken while the camera is pointed up or down, the image may not be rotated automatically for playback. If the vertical im age is not automatically rota ted on the computer screen, it means the software yo u are using is unable to rotate the image. Using the provided softwa re is recommended. COPY
