111 i: Setting the ISO Speed N When Auto ISO is set, you can set the minimum shutter speed (1/250 sec. to 1 sec.) so that the automatically-set shutter speed is not too \ slow. This is convenient in the < d> and < f> modes when you use a wide- angle lens to shoot a moving subjec t. You can minimize both camera shake and subject blur. 1Select [Min. shutter spd.]. Select [Min. shutter spd. ], then press < 0>. 2Set the desired minimum shutter speed. Press the < U> key to select the shutter speed, then press < 0>. XThe menu reappears. 3 Setting the Minimum Shutter Speed for Auto ISO If a correct exposure cannot be ob tained with the maximum ISO speed limit set with [ Auto ISO range ], a shutter speed slower than the [ Min. shutter spd. ] will be set to obtain a standard exposure. With flash photography, [ Min. shutter spd.] will not be applied. COPY
112 By selecting a Picture Style, you can obtain image characteristics matching your photographic expression or the subject. In Basic Zone modes, (Auto) is set automatically. 1Select [Picture Style]. Under the [ z4] tab, select [Picture Style ], then press < 0>. XThe Picture Style selection screen will appear. 2Select a Picture Style. Press the < V> key to select a Picture Style, then press < 0>. XThe Picture Style will be set and the camera will be ready to shoot. D Auto The color tone will be adjusted autom atically to suit the scene. The colors will look vivid, especia lly for blue skies, greenery, and sunsets in nature, outdoor, and sunset scenes. P Standard The image looks vivid, sharp, and cr isp. This is a general-purpose Picture Style suitable for most scenes. Q Portrait For nice skin tones. The image lo oks softer. Suited for close-up portraits. By changing the [ Color tone] (p.115), you can adjust the skin tone. 113 A Selecting a Picture Style N R Landscape For vivid blues and greens, and very sharp and crisp images. Effective for impressive landscapes. S Neutral This Picture Style is for users who prefer to process images with their computer. For natural colors and subdued images. U Faithful This Picture Style is for users who prefer to process images with their computer. When the subject is captured under a color temperature of 5200K, the color is adjusted colorimetrically to match the subject’s color. Images will appear dull and subdued. V Monochrome Creates black-and-white images. W User Def. 1-3 You can register a basic style such as [Portrait ], [Landscape ], a Picture Style file, etc., and adjust it as desired (p.118). Any User Defined Picture Style that has not been set will have the same default settings as the [ Auto] Picture Style. Black-and-white images shot in JPEG cannot be reverted to color. If you want to later shoot pictures in color, make sure the [Monochrome] setting has been canceled. can be displayed in the viewfinder when [Monochrome] is set (p.313). COPY

115 You can customize a Picture Style by adjusting individual parameters such as [Sharpness] and [Contrast ]. To see the resulting effects, take test shots. To customize [Monochrome], see page 117. 1Select [Picture Style]. Under the [ z4] tab, select [Picture Style ], then press < 0>. XThe Picture Style selection screen will appear. 2Select a Picture Style. Select a Picture Style, then press the button. 3Select a parameter. Select a parameter such as [Sharpness], then press < 0>. 4Set the parameter. Press the < U> key to adjust the parameter as desired, then press < 0 >. Press the < M> button to save the adjusted parameters. The Picture Style selection screen will reappear. XAny parameter settings different from the default will be displayed in blue. 117 A Customizing a Picture Style N For Monochrome, you can also set [ Filter effect] and [Toning effect] in addition to [ Sharpness] and [Contrast ] explained on the preceding page. kFilter Effect With a filter effect applied to a monochrome image, you can make white clouds or green trees stand out more. lToning Effect By applying a toning effect, you can create a monochrome image in that color. It can make the image look more impressive. The following can be selected: [ N:None], [S:Sepia ], [B:Blue ], [P:Purple ] or [G:Green ]. V Monochrome Adjustment FilterSample Effects N: NoneNormal black-and-white image with no filter effects. Ye: YellowThe blue sky will look more natural, and the wh ite clouds will look crisper. Or: OrangeThe blue sky will look slightly da rker. The sunset will look more brilliant. R: RedThe blue sky will look quite dark. Fa ll leaves will look crisper and brighter. G: GreenSkin tones and lips will appear muted. Tree leaves will look crisper and brighter. Increasing the [ Contrast] will make the filter effect more pronounced. COPY
118 You can select a base Picture Style such as [Portrait] or [Landscape ], adjust its parameters as desired and register it under [ User Def. 1], [User Def. 2 ], or [User Def. 3 ]. You can create multiple Picture Styles whose parameter settings such as sharpness and contrast are different. You can also adjust the parameters of a Picture Style that has been registered to the camera with EOS Utility (provided software, p.392). 1Select [Picture Style]. Under the [ z4] tab, select [Picture Style ], then press < 0>. XThe Picture Style selection screen will appear. 2Select [User Def. *]. Select [User Def. * ], then press < B >. 3Press < 0>. With [ Picture Style] selected, press < 0 >. 4Select the base Picture Style. Press the < V> key to select the base Picture Style, then press < 0>. 119 A Registering a Picture StyleN 5Select a parameter. Select a parameter such as [Sharpness], then press < 0>. 6Set the parameter. Press the < U> key to adjust the parameter as desired, then press < 0 >. For details, see “Customizing a Picture Style” on pages 115-117. Press the button to register the modified Picture Style. The Picture Style selection screen will then reappear. XThe base Picture Style will be indicated on the right of [ User Def. *]. XIf the settings in a Picture Style registered under [ User Def. *] have been modified from the base Picture Style settings, the Picture Style’s name will be displayed in blue. If a Picture Style has alread y been registered under [User Def. *], changing the base Picture Style in step 4 will nullify the parameter settings of the registered Picture Style. If you execute [ Clear all camera settings ] (p.56), all the [User Def. *] settings will revert to their defaults. Picture St yle registered via EOS Utility (provided software) will have only their modified parameters reverted to their default settings. To use the adjusted Picture St yle, select the registered [User Def. *], then shoot. 120 White balance (WB) is for making the white areas look white. Normally, the (Auto) setting will obtain the co rrect white balance. If natural- looking colors cannot be obtained with < Q>, you can select the white balance to match the light source or set it manually by shooting a white object. In Basic Zone modes, is set automatically. 1Select [White balance]. Under the [ z3] tab, select [White balance], then press < 0>. 2Select the white balance. Select the desired setting, then press . * Applicable with Speedlites having a color temperature transm ission function. Otherwise, it will be fixed to approx. 6000K. To the human eye, a white object look s white regardless of the type of lighting. With a digital camera, the color temperature is adjusted with software to make the white areas look white.
