358 If a problem occurs with the camera, first refer to this Troubleshooting Guide. If this Troubleshooting Guide does not resolve the problem, contact your dealer or nearest Canon Service Center. If the battery’s remaining capacity (p .338) is 94% or higher, the battery will not be recharged. Do not recharge any batte ry pack other than genuine Canon Batt ery Pack LP-E6. If there is a problem with the battery charger or battery pack or if communication with the battery pack (non-Canon battery packs) is not possible, the protective circuit will terminate the charging and the orange lamp will blink quickly at a regular inte rval. If there is a problem with the battery charger or battery pack, unplug the charger’s power plug from the power outlet. Detach and reattach the bat tery pack to the charger. Wait 2 to 3 minutes, then reconnect the power plug to the power outlet. If the problem persists, contact your deal er or nearest Canon Service Center. If the internal temperature of the batte ry pack attached to the charger is high, the charger will not charge the ba ttery for safety reasons (lamp off). During the charging, if the battery ’s temperature becomes high for any reason, the charging will stop automatically (lamp blinks). When the battery temperature goes down, the charging will resume automatically. The battery is not properly installed in the camera (p.30). Make sure the battery compar tment cover is closed (p.30). Make sure the card slot cover is closed (p.31). Recharge the battery (p.28). Troubleshooting Guide Power-Related Problems The battery pack does not recharge. The charger’s lamp blinks at high speed. The charger’s lamp does not blink. The camera does not operate even when the power switch is set to . COPY
359 Troubleshooting Guide If the power is turned off while an image is being recorded to the card, the access lamp will remain on/con tinue to blink for a few seconds. When the image recording is comple ted, the power will turn off automatically. Use a fully-charged battery pack (p.28). The battery performance may have degraded. See [ 53: Battery info.] to check the battery’s recharge performance level (p.338). If the battery performance is poor, replace the battery pack with a new one. The number of possible shots will decrease with any of the following operations: • Pressing the shutter button hal fway for a prolonged period. • Often activating only the AF without taking a picture. • Using the lens’ Image Stabilizer. • Using the LCD monitor often. • Continuing Live View shooting or movie shooting for a prolonged period. Auto power off is in effect. If you do not want auto power off to take effect, set [ 52: Auto power off ] to [Disable ] (p.55). Even if [ 52: Auto power off ] is set to [Disable], the LCD monitor will still turn off after the camera is le ft idle for 30 min. (The camera’s power does not turn off.) The access lamp still blinks even when the power switch is set to < 2>. The battery becomes exhausted quickly. The camera turns off by itself. COPY
360 Troubleshooting Guide The camera cannot be used wi th EF-S lenses (p.39). Install a recharged battery pa ck in the camera (p.28). The card is not properly inserted (p.31). If you are using an SD card, slide the card’s write-protect switch to the Write/Erase setting (p.31). If the card is full, replace the ca rd or delete unnecessary images to make room (p.31, 277). If you try to focus in the One- Shot AF mode while the focus confirmation light < o> in the viewfinder blin ks, a picture cannot be taken. Press the shutter button halfw ay again to refocus automatically, or focus manually (p.44, 111). If a card error message is di splayed, see page 33 or 371. Cards with capacities greater than 128 GB are formatted in exFAT. This means that if you format a card with a capacity over 128 GB with this camera and then insert it into another camera, an error may be displayed and it may not be possible to use the card. Shooting-Related Problems The lens cannot be attached. The viewfinder is dark. No images can be shot or recorded. The card cannot be used. An error message is displayed when the card is inserted in another camera. COPY
