You can crop a JPEG image and save it as another image. You can 
crop 3, K , 5 , a  and b JPEG images.  JPEG c and RAW images 
cannot be cropped.
1Select [Cropping].
 Under the [x 2] tab, select 
[Cropping ], then press < 0>.
 An image is displayed.

Moving the Cropping Frame
Use < 9> to move the frame over the image vertically or 
horizontally. Move the cropping frame until it covers the desired 
image area.
Switching the Cropping Frame Orientation
Pressing the < B> button will toggle the cropping frame between 
the vertical and horizontal orientatio ns. This enables you to create a 
vertically oriented image from a horizontal image.

Sensor Cleaning
The camera has a Self Cleaning Sensor Unit to 
automatically shake off dust adhered to the image 
sensor’s front layer (low pass filter).
The Dust Delete Data can also be appended to the 
image so that the dust spots remaining can be deleted 
automatically by Digital Photo Professional (EOS 
software, p.521).

Whenever you set the power switch to  or , the Self 
Cleaning Sensor Unit operates to aut omatically shake off the dust on 
the front of the sensor. Normally, you need not pay attention to this 
operation. However, you can choos e to perform sensor cleaning 
manually, or disable it.
1Select [Sensor cleaning].
Under the [5 3] tab, select [ Sensor 
cleaning ], then press < 0>.
2Select [Clean now f].
Select [ Clean now f], then press 
< 0 >.
 Select [ OK].

Normally, the Self Cleaning Sensor Unit will eliminate most of the dust 
that may be visible on captured images. However, in case visible dust 
still remains, you can append the Dust Delete Data to the image for 
erasing the dust spots later. The Dust Delete Data is used by Digital 
Photo Professional (EOS software, p.521) to erase the dust spots 
automatically.
Prepare a solid white object such as a sheet of paper.
 Set the lens focal length to 50 mm or longer.

3Shoot a solid-white object.
At a distance of 20 cm - 30 cm (0.7 ft. 
- 1.0 ft.), fill the viewfinder with a 
patternless, solid-white object and 
take a picture.

The picture will be taken in aperture-
priority AE mode at an aperture of f/22.
 Since the image will not be saved, the 
data can still be obtained even if there 
is no card in the camera.
 When the picture is taken, the camera 
will start collecting the Dust Delete

Dust that could not be removed by the automatic sensor cleaning can 
be removed manually with a commercially-available blower, etc. Before 
cleaning the sensor, detach the lens from the camera.
The image sensor is extremely delicate. If the sensor needs to be 
cleaned directly, having it done by a Canon Service Center is 
recommended.
1Select [Sensor cleaning].

While cleaning the sensor, never do any of the following. If the 
power is cut off, the shutter will close and the shutter curtains and 
image sensor may get damaged.
• Setting the power switch to < 2>.
• Removing or inserting the battery.
 The surface of the image sensor is  extremely delicate. Clean the sensor 
with care.
 Use a plain blower without any brush  attached. A brush can scratch the 
sensor.
 Do not insert the blower tip inside the camera beyond the lens...

Printing Images and Transferring
Images to a Computer

You can connect the camera directly to a printer and print 
out the images on the card. The camera is compliant with 
“ w PictBridge”, which is the standard for direct printing.
 Digital Print Order Format (DPOF)  (p.389)

images recorded on the card according to your printing 
instructions such as the image selection, quantity to print,
