cPull out the jammed paper (1) and press 
Stop/Exit.
 
 
dPush the green duplex unit up. 
eReset the machine by lifting the scanner 
cover from the front of the machine and 
then closing it.
„ If you cannot remove the jammed 
paper from the front of the machine, 
or the error message still appears on 
the LCD after you have removed the 
jammed paper, please go to the next 
step.
fOpen the Outer Back Cover (1) at the

gClose the Inner Back Cover (1) if it is 
open as shown in the illustration.
 
hClose the Outer Back Cover.
Make sure the Outer Back Cover is 
closed properly.
 
iUsing both hands, use the plastic tabs 
on both sides of the machine to lift the 
Scanner Cover (1) into the open 
position.
Make sure that there is no jammed 
paper left in the corners of the machine.

source, and then move the print head to

jGently close the scanner cover using 
the finger holds on both sides of it as you 
push down on the Scanner Cover 
Support (1).
 
CAUTION 
Be careful not to trap your fingers under the 
scanner cover.
Always use the finger holds provided on 
both sides of the scanner cover when 
opening and closing it.
 
kPush paper tray #1 and paper tray #2 
firmly back into the machine.
IMPORTANT
Make sure you pull out the paper support 
until it clicks.

aOpen the ink cartridge cover.
If one or more ink cartridges have 
reached the end of their life, for example 
Black, the LCD shows Cannot Print.
bPress down to unlock the release lever 
and take out the ink cartridge for the 
color shown on the LCD.
 
 
cOpen the new ink cartridge bag for the 
color shown on the LCD, and then take 
out the ink cartridge.
dTurn the green knob on the protective 
yellow cap clockwise until it clicks to 
release the vacuum seal, then remove 
the cap (1).

• If you replaced an ink cartridge, for example Black, the LCD may ask you to 
verify that it was a brand new one (for 
example,  Did You Change  Black ).

Clean the Touchscreen as follows:
IMPORTANT
• Turn off the power switch when you clean the Touchscreen.
• DO NOT use any type of liquid cleaners  (including ethanol).
 
aClean the Touchscreen with a dry soft 
cloth.
 
Clean the outside of the machine as 
follows:
IMPORTANT
• Use neutral detergents. Cleaning with volatile liquids such as thinner or benzine 
will damage the outside surface of the 
machine.
• DO NOT use cleaning materials that  contain ammonia.

aLift the document cover (1). Clean the 
scanner glass (2) and the white 
plastic (3) with a soft lint-free cloth 
moistened with a non-flammable glass 
cleaner.
 
bIn the ADF unit, clean the white bar (1) 
and the glass strip (2) with a lint-free 
cloth moistened with a non-flammable 
glass cleaner.
 
Note
In addition to cleaning the scanner glass 
and glass strip with a non-flammable glass 
cleaner, run your finger tip over the glass...

aPull the paper trays completely out of 
the machine.
bUnplug the machine from the AC power 
outlet and open the Outer Back 
Cover (1) and Inner Back Cover (2) at 
the back of the machine.
 
cSlightly moisten a soft, lint-free cloth 
with water. Thoroughly wring the cloth 
before using. 
dClean the paper pick up rollers (1) with 
the cloth, using a side-to-side motion.
Slowly turn the rollers so that the whole 
surface is cleaned.

If faded or streaked colors and text appear on 
your output, some of the nozzles may be 
clogged. You can check this by printing the 
Print Quality Check Sheet and looking at the 
nozzle check pattern.
