Check for a dial tone. If possible, call your fax machine to hear it answer. If there is still no answer, check the telephone line cord connection. Pick up the fax machine handset or answer from an extension phone, and then press your fax machine’s Telephone Answer Code (default setting is #51). (See For FAX/TEL Mode Only, page 5-6.) Clean the white roller and the glass strip under the roller with isopropyl alcohol on a lint-free cloth. You’ll need to lift the two release levers to release the white roller; be sure to lock them in place when you’re through. During cleaning, we recommend you unplug the power cord for safety.
