5Put transparencies in the MP tray. Put the side to be printed on first, face up, with the leading edge
(top) of the paper in first. Make sure the transparencies touch the back of the tray and remain under
the maximum paper height guides on both sides of the tray. Do not put more than 10 transparencies
in the MP tray at any one time, or it may cause a jam.
    Figure 1-43
6While pressing the paper guide release lever, slide the paper guide to fit the transparency size.
    Figure 1-44
Make sure that the transparencies are straight and in the proper position in the MP tray. If they are
not, the transparencies may not be fed properly, resulting in a skewed printout or a jam.
When you put transparencies in the MP tray, please remember the following:
■The side to be printed on must be face up.
■Put the leading edge (top of the transparencies) in first and push it gently into the tray.
■The top of the transparency stack must be under the maximum paper height guides that are on
    both sides of the tray.

    							ABOUT THIS PRINTER 1 - 40
Guidelines for printing on both sides of the paper
■If the paper is thin, it may wrinkle.
■If paper is curled, straighten it and then put it back in the paper tray.
■You should use regular paper. Do not use bond paper.
■If the paper is not feeding properly, it may be curled. Remove the paper and straighten it.
■(For manual duplex printing) When you put paper in the paper tray, first empty the tray of any other
paper then put the printed page in to the empty tray, with the printed side face up. (Do not add printed
pages to the top of a stack of unprinted paper.)
    (For manual duplex printing )
For thick paper that has curled once the first side has been printed on, you cannot feed the paper
for the second time from the MP tray to allow the other side of the paper to be printed.
At the back of the printer, open the back output tray and push down the two blue tabs one on the
left and one on the right hand side (as shown in Figure 1-51). When you have finished printing, close
the back output tray to reset the two blue tabs back to their original position.

Paper orientation for printing on both sides of the paper (for automatic duplex printing)
The printer prints the second page first.

    of the tray.
■To print the second side, put the paper face up, with the leading edge (top) of the paper at the
    front of the tray.
■If letterhead paper is used, this would be put in the paper tray with the heading face up, and at
    the front of the tray.
■To print the second page, put the heading face down and at the front of the tray.
    ■For the MP tray:

    							ABOUT THIS PRINTER 1 - 42
    Carbon copy printing
Carbon copy printing enables you to automatically print one page data to different styles of paper by
changing the paper source. You can make copies as though you are printing on carbon paper using a
dot matrix printer. For example, you can print ‘Data A’ to ‘Sheet 1’ which is blue colored paper and then
to ‘Sheet 2’ which is yellow colored and has some information already printed. If you put paper for ‘Sheet
1’ in the Tray 1 and paper for ‘Sheet 2’ in the MP tray, the printer will automatically feed paper for ‘Sheet
1’ from the Tray 1 and ‘Sheet 2’ from the MP tray.
