    Optional accessories and supplies
    This printer has the following optional accessories. You can increase the capabilities of the printer with 
    these items.

    Lower tray unit (LT-6000)
    The lower tray unit (Tray 2) is an optional device that can hold up to 500 sheets of paper (80 g/m2 or 20 
    lb). When all three trays are installed, the printer can hold up to 1100 sheets of plain paper. If you want 
    to buy an optional lower tray unit, call the dealer you bought the printer from.

    Network board (NC-6100h) 
    (For HL-6050 and HL-6050D)
    Installing the Brother network board (NC-6100h) allows you to connect the printer on a network running 
    TCP/IP, IPX/SPX, AppleTalk, DLC/LLC, and NetBEUI protocols. Many useful features, such as 
    BRAdmin Professional for the administrator and Brother network printing software, are included on the 
    CD-ROM supplied with this printer.

    Installing the network board 
    1Turn off the printer power switch, and then unplug the printer.   
    2Slide and remove the side cover.

    3Open the interface access cover.

    4Loosen the two screws, and then remove the Network cover plate.

    5Put the network board connector firmly into the connector of the main controller board by aligning 
    the two screws to the groove of the printer, and then secure it with the two screws.

    6Close the interface access cover.

    7Put the side cover back on.

    8Connect one end of the ethernet cable to the network port of the printer.
    9Plug the printer back in, and then turn on the power switch.

    Wireless print server (NC-7100w)
    The Brother NC-7100w wireless print server supports the IEEE 802.11b and 802.11g wireless 
    networking standards and can work in Infrastructure or Ad-hoc mode using common wireless 
    authentication and security methods.
    For more information, see the NC-7100w Network User’s Guide on the CD-ROM and the Quick Setup 
    Guide that we have supplied with the NC-7100w wireless print server.
    Installing the network board 
    1Turn off the printer power switch, and then unplug the printer if connected. Disconnect the interface 
    cable from the printer.
    2Slide and remove the side cover of the printer.

    4Loosen the two screws, and then remove the Network cover plate.

    5Put the NC-7100w print server connector firmly into the connector of the main controller board by 
    aligning the two screws to the groove of the printer, and then secure it with the two screws.

    6Close the interface access cover.
    7Put the side cover back on.
    8Plug the printer back in, and then turn on the power switch.

    9Make sure that the POWER LED of the print server is on.

    CompactFlash® card
    This printer has a slot for an optional industry standard CompactFlash® card, which is a memory card.
    If you install an optional CompactFlash
    ® card, you can save macros, the print log and fonts on it. You 
    can also select a stored print job and reprint it through the network.
    You can install the following types of CompactFlash
    ® cards.
    SanDisk (or SanDisk OEM Products)
    Type I
    ■32 MB  SDCFB-32-801
    ■64 MB  SDCFB-64-801
    ■128 MB  SDCFB-128-801
    ■256 MB  SDCFB-256-801
    ■512 MB  SDCFB-512-801
    ■1 GB SDCFB-1000-801
    ■Make sure the printer power is OFF before you insert or remove the card to avoid serious 
    damage or data loss.
    ■IBM Microdrive
    ® is not compatible.

    Inserting the CompactFlash® card 
    Follow these steps to insert or remove a card: 
    1Turn off the printer power switch, and then unplug the printer.
    2Insert the CompactFlash® card into the slot with the label facing to the left, pressing the card firmly 
    into the slot. 
    Caution
    Do not insert the card into the slot with the label facing the wrong way, as this may damage the 
    connector pins.

    Before you remove the card, turn the power switch OFF, and then unplug the printer. To remove the 
    card, pull it out of the printer.
