    cWipe the windows of LED head (1) with a dry, lint-free cloth. Be careful not to touch the windows of LED 
    head (1) with your fingers. 
     
    dClose the top cover of the printer.
    ePlug the printer back in, and then turn on the power switch.
    Cleaning the corona wires5
    If you have print quality problems, clean the corona wires as follows:
    aTurn off the printer power switch. Fully open the top cover by lifting up on the handle (1).

    bTake out a drum unit and toner cartridge assembly. 
    IMPORTANT
     We recommend that you place the drum unit and toner cartridge assembly on a clean, flat surface with a 
    sheet of disposable paper or cloth underneath it in case you accidentally spill or scatter toner.
     To prevent damage to the printer from static electricity, DO NOT touch the electrodes shown in the 
    illustration.

    cClean the primary corona wire inside the drum unit by gently sliding the green tab from left to right and 
    right to left several times.
     
    Note
    Be sure to return the tab to the home position (a) (1). If you do not, printed pages may have a vertical stripe.
     
    dSlide the drum unit and toner cartridge assembly into the printer. Make sure that you match the toner 
    cartridge color to the same color label on the printer.
    eRepeat steps b to d to clean each of the remaining corona wires.
    fClose the top cover of the printer.
    gTurn the printer power switch back on.
      
    C - Cyan
    M - MagentaY - Yellow

    Cleaning the drum unit5
    Small spots on the printed pages5
    If your printout has any small white or colored spots, follow the steps below to solve the problem.
    aOpen the manual feed slot cover. 
    bUsing both hands, slide the manual feed slot paper guides to the width of the paper that you are going 
    to use.
     
    cUsing both hands, put one blank sheet of paper in the manual feed slot until the front edge of the paper 
    touches the paper feed roller. Wait until the machine automatically feeds the paper. When you feel the 
    machine pull in the paper, let go.

    Note
     Make sure that the paper is straight and in the correct position on the manual feed slot. If it is not, the paper 
    may not be fed properly, resulting in a skewed printout or a paper jam.
     Do not put more than one piece of paper in the manual feed slot at any one time, as it may cause a jam.
     If you put paper in the manual feed slot before the printer is in the Ready state, an error may occur and 
    the printer will stop printing.
     
    dMake sure that the printer is in the Ready state. Press + or - to choose Color Correction. Press OK. 
    Select ab or OK

    ePress + or - to choose Drum Cleaning. 
    Drum Cleaning
    fPress Go. The printer will pull in the piece of paper and start cleaning the drum unit.
    gWhen the printer has finished cleaning, Completed appears on the LCD. Press Cancel so that the 
    printer returns to the Ready state.
    hRepeat steps c to g two more times using a new blank sheet of paper each time. Upon completion 
    please discard the used paper. If the print problem is not resolved please contact Brother Customer 
    Service.

    Large spots on the printed pages5
    If your printout has colored spots at 94 mm (3.7 in.) intervals, follow the steps below to solve the problem.
    aTurn off the printer power switch. Fully open the top cover by lifting up on the handle (1). 
    bSee the print sample to identify the color causing the problem. The color of the spots is the color of the 
    drum you should clean. For example, if the spots are cyan, you should clean the drum for cyan. Take out 
    the drum unit and toner cartridge assembly of the color causing the problem.

    IMPORTANT
     We recommend that you place the drum unit and toner cartridge assembly on a clean, flat surface with a

    cPush down the green-labeled lock lever (1) and take the toner cartridge out of the drum unit. 
    IMPORTANT
    Handle the toner cartridge carefully. If toner scatters on your hands or clothes, wipe or wash it off with cold 
    water at once.

    dPut the print sample in front of the drum unit, and find the exact position of the poor print. 
    eTurn the drum unit gear by hand while looking at the surface of the OPC drum (1). 
    fWhen you have found the mark on the drum that matches the print sample, wipe the surface of the OPC 
    drum with a dry cotton swab until the dust or glue on the surface comes off.
     
    IMPORTANT
    DO NOT clean the surface of the photosensitive drum with a sharp object.

    gPut the toner cartridge back firmly into the drum unit until you hear it lock into place. 
    Note
    Make sure that you put in the toner cartridge properly or it may separate from the drum unit.
     
    hSlide each drum unit and toner cartridge assembly into the printer. Make sure that you match the toner 
    cartridge color to the same color label on the printer.
    iClose the top cover of the printer.
    jTurn the printer power switch back on.
      
    C - Cyan
    M - MagentaY - Yellow
    K - Black

    Cleaning the paper pick-up roller5
    aTurn off the printer power switch and then unplug the printer. 
    bPull the paper tray completely out of the printer.
