AllowingBluetoothenableddevicestoaccessyourcontacts You can allow Bluetooth enabled devices that support the Phone Book Access Profile (PBAP) to access the contact information in the Contacts app on your BlackBerry device. For example, if you allow access to all of your contacts, when you pair your device with your Bluetooth enabled car kit and you receive a call from a contact, your car kit can display the name of the caller. When you allow access to your contact information: tIf you previously paired and connected your BlackBerry device running BlackBerry 10 OS version 10.3.0 or earlier with a Bluetooth enabled device, such as a car kit, the Bluetooth enabled device automatically accesses contact information on your device. tThe first time you pair and connect your device running BlackBerry 10 OS version 10.3.1 or later with a Bluetooth enabled device, such as a car kit, you receive a notification on your BlackBerry device asking you to confirm that you allow access to your contact information. tIf your Bluetooth enabled device requires a passkey and you donht know what the passkey is, check the documentation that came with your Bluetooth enabled device. Sometimes the passkey is set to 0000 until you change it. If you donht know what the passkey is, try 0000. tIf your BlackBerry device doesnht detect the Bluetooth enabled device that you want to pair with, try making your BlackBerry device discoverable for a short period of time. On the home screen, swipe down from the top of the screen. Tap Settings > NetworksandConnections > Bluetooth. In the Discoverable drop-down list, tap On or 2Minutes. If necessary, enter your BlackBerry device password. Start the pairing process according to the documentation that came with the device. tIf the Bluetooth enabled device uses a battery, connect the device to a power source and then try again. NFC NFC is a short-range wireless technology thaths used for quickly creating connections between your BlackBerry device and other NFC-enabled devices or NFC tags. NFC is designed so you can easily share content and information without having to pair your BlackBerry device with another NFC compatible device. Depending on your wireless service provider and the applications you have installed on your device, there are many interesting things you can do using NFC, such as sharing a picture with a friend or paying for a purchase using your device. WhatisNFC? The NFC feature might not be available, depending on your wireless service provider, your administratorhs settings, and your BlackBerry device model. NFC is a short-range wireless technology that is designed to let you easily share content and information without having to pair your device to another NFC-enabled device. Some NFC apps are designed to simulate a physical card, such as a credit card, a public transit pass, or an access badge. If the app is open on your device, just tap the back of your device to the NFC reader and go. A few examples of what you can do using NFC apps include: tPay for your morning coffee without taking out your wallet. tPay for your bus or subway ride. tGain access to your building when you get to work. These example are just a few of the things you can do with NFC. NFC can be used in many ways depending on the applications you have installed on your device and the NFC compatibility of other devices. TurnonNFC The NFC feature might not be available, depending on your wireless service provider, your administratorhs settings, and your BlackBerry device model. 1.On the home screen, swipe down from the top of the screen. 2.Tap Settings > NetworksandConnections > NFC. 3.Turn on the NFCConnectivity switch. SendafileusingNFC The NFC feature might not be available, depending on your wireless service provider, your administratorhs settings, and your BlackBerry device model. With NFC, you can exchange many kinds of files, including pictures, music, contact info, and even webpages, between your BlackBerry device and other NFC-enabled devices. Your device automatically establishes a Wi-Fi Direct or Bluetooth connection with the other NFC-enabled device to transfer files. 1.On your BlackBerry device do any of the following: tTo send a single file, find and open a file. tTo send multiple files, find and highlight the files that you want to send. Tap > NFC. 2.Align the back of your BlackBerry device with an NFC-enabled device. 3.If necessary, tap Send. Tip:After your device starts to send the file, move your device away from the other NFC-enabled device so you donht accidentally send the file more than once. RemoveorresetadefaultNFCapp The NFC feature might not be available, depending on your wireless service provider, your administratorhs settings, and your BlackBerry device model. Multiple NFC apps on your device might use the same app ID that an NFC reader requests. Your device prompts you to set one of the apps as the default app for the NFC reader. You can remove and change the default app setting. 1.On the home screen, swipe down from the top of the screen. 2.Tap Settings > AppManager. 3.Tap CardEmulationApps or DefaultApps. 4.Do one of the following: tTo remove the app as the default app for the NFC reader, tap the checkbox beside the default app and tap . tTo reset your device to use the factory settings for default apps, tap . 5.The next time you use the NFC reader, set the appropriate app as the default app. Troubleshooting:NFC ThewrongappopenswhenIuseanNFCreader The wrong app might open because it is set as the default app to use with an NFC reader. You might need to remove or reset the default app for the NFC reader. Tap Settings > AppManager > DefaultApps to remove the app as the default app for the NFC reader. The next time you tap your device against the NFC reader, set the preferred app as the default app. NFCisnotworkingasexpected If you try to share a file by using an NFC connection or a smart tag when your device is locked and the backlight is off, or when the power is turned off, NFC will not work. Settings in the AllowNFCCard Transactions section of the NFC screen donht apply to NFC file transfers or the smart tag feature. You can set up your device to run some NFC apps when your device is locked and the backlight is turned off, or when the power is turned off. In the NFC settings, the Whenlockedorbacklightisoff option applies to NFC apps that simulate physical card transactions, (for example, credit card payments or security badges that allow access to secure buildings), and NFC transactions handled by your SIM card. USBconnections You can use a USB cable to create a two-way connection between your BlackBerry device and your computer. When you connect your device to your computer using a USB cable, you can charge your device. When you connect your device to your computer using a USB cable, your device appears as a mapped drive. If you turn on the USB Mass Storage Mode feature, your device appears on your computer as a removable storage device. You can usually use a USB connection to drag files between your device and your computer, depending on the features of your computer. Accessthefilesonyourmediacardfromanexternaldevice To use the USB Mass Storage Mode feature, you must have a media card in your BlackBerry device. USB Mass Storage Mode is designed to let you use your device as a USB drive. Using a USB cable, you can connect your device to a computer, car stereo, or other external device, and access the files on your media card. When you turn on USB Mass Storage Mode and connect your device to a computer using a USB cable, your device appears on your computer as a removable storage device. Note:When USB Mass Storage Mode is on and your device is connected to an external device using a USB cable, apps on your device canht access the files on your media card. 1.On the home screen, swipe down from the top of the screen. 2.Tap Settings > NetworksandConnections > USB. 3.Turn on the USBMassStorageMode switch. MobileHotspot When you use Mobile Hotspot mode your BlackBerry device creates a Wi-Fi network that other Wi-Fi enabled devices can connect to so that they can use the Internet through your mobile network connection. SharingyourInternetconnectionusingMobileHotspotmode This feature lets you connect your devices to the Internet anywhere that your BlackBerry device has a mobile network connection, but because this feature uses the mobile network, you might incur high data charges. On some mobile networks, services such as email and BBM might not be available while Mobile Hotspot mode is on. After you set up Mobile Hotspot mode on your BlackBerry device, connecting to the mobile hotspot with a Wi-Fi enabled device is a lot like connecting to any regular router.
