Modifying an Existing File and Saving It as a Different File
Many times, you will create new files by modfying existing files. For example,
if you want to change one button in a file while maintaining that original file,
you can open that file, make your changes, and then save the modified file
under a new title. This way, you save time and effort and still have your
original file.
To save an existing file under a new title:
1.Select Save As. . . from the file menu.

to Your Telephone
Before you can program a button to your telephone, you must select the button
to be used. To select a button to be used when programming:
1.Click on the button label that you want to write to your telephone.
The button label is highlighted.
2.Select Use Button When Programming Phone from the
Programming menu.

Before allowing you to program (that is, write to) another extension, AT&TSet
prompts you specify the following information:
n     the extension that you want to program
n    whether you want to read the programming from the extension
n     the type of telephone at that extension
If you specify that you want to read the programming of the other extension,
AT&TSet then prompts you to specify which items you want to read from that
extension (for example, button programming). AT&TSet then...

When you read programming from your own extension or write programming to
your own extension, the image file for your extension is automatically saved
on your PC. However, when you read the programming of another extension
or write programming to another extension, the image file for that extension is
not automatically saved on your PC. If you want to save the information for
later use, you must save it to a file on your own PC.
To program another extension:
1.Select Program Another...

4.Select whether you want to read the existing programming for the
extension that you want to program. An x in the Read Phone check
box indicates that AT&TSet will display the current programming for the
selected extension.
5.Select the OK button.
If you did not select the Read Phone check box, AT&TSet will display a
blank screen for the telephone type you selected (that is, there is no
programming information).
If you selected the Read Phone check box, the Read from Telephone
dialog box...

Note that the Extension label notifies you which extension you are
currently programming. Whenever you are unsure which extension you
are programming, look at this label in the AT&TSet file.

procedures described earlier in Extension Programming Tasks or

Setting the Automatic Line Selection
As System Manager, you can use AT&TSet to set the Automatic Line Selection
for each extension. Automatic Line Selection is the order in which the users
are connected to idle lines when they lift the telephone handset or press the
speaker button. The system always picks the first choice in the Automatic Line
Selection list that is inactive at the time. The Automatic Line Selection cannot

2.Select the Start Again... button.
3.Select line and intercom buttons in the order in which you want the user
to access them.

Setting the Line Ringing Options
for Line Buttons
AT&TSet enables you to set the ringing options for line buttons. To set the
ringing options for line buttons:
1.Select the line button that you want to modify.
The button becomes highlighted.
