    Paper Usage Guidelines
The printer trays accommodate most sizes and types of paper, transparencies, or other
specialty media. Follow these guidelines wh en loading paper and media in the trays:
■Use only recommended Xerox transparenci es; print quality may vary with other
    transparencies.
■Do not print on label stock once a label has been removed from a sheet.
■Use only paper envelopes. Print all envelopes single-sided only.
■Do not overload the paper trays.
■Adjust the paper guides to fit the paper size.

Paper That Can Damage Your Printer
Your printer is designed to use a variety of media types for print jobs. However, some media
can cause poor output quality, increased pa per jams, or damage to your printer.
    Unacceptable media includes:
    ■Rough or porous media
■Plastic media other than supported transparencies
    ■Paper that has been photocopied
    ■Paper with cutouts or perforations
■Paper with a pre-punched hole in the center of the short edge
    ■Paper with staples attached
■Envelopes with windows, metal clasps, side seams, or adhesives with release strips

    Paper Storage Guidelines
Providing good storage conditions for your pa per and other media contributes to optimum
    print quality.
■Store paper in dark, cool, relatively dry lo cations. Most paper items are susceptible to
damage from ultraviolet (UV) and visible light . UV radiation, which is emitted by the sun
and fluorescent bulbs, is partic ularly damaging to paper items. The intensity and length of
exposure to visible light on paper items should be reduced as much as possible.
■Maintain constant temperatur es and relative humidity.
■Avoid attics, kitchens, garages, and basements fo r storing paper. Inside walls are drier than
outside walls where moisture can collect.
■Store paper flat. Paper should be stored on pallets, cartons, shelves, or in cabinets.
■Avoid having food or drinks in the area where paper is stored or handled.
■Do not open sealed packages of paper until yo u are ready to load them into the printer.
Leave paper in the original packaging. Fo r most commercial cut-size grades, the ream
wrapper contains an inner lining that protec ts the paper from moisture loss or gain.
■Leave the media inside the bag until you are r eady to use it; reinsert unused media in the
bag and reseal it for protection. Some specialty media is packaged inside resealable plastic
    bags.
