3.
Remove the waste tray (labeled  B) from the waste tray slot. 
Warning:  The waste tray may be hot; handle it carefully.
4. Empty the waste, and then place the tray in a plastic bag for storage.
Caution:  Shipping the printer with the maintena nce kit and waste tray installed can 
damage the printer.
5. Close the printer’s door and covers.

Turning Off the Printer
To turn off the printer:
1.Press the power switch located under the interfac e cover on the right side of the printer to 
turn it off.
2. Within  10 seconds  after turning off the printer, select 
Shut Down for Moving Printer on 
the control panel.
Caution:  If you receive a 
Power Down Error-Head not Parked message at the control 
panel, the printer is not ready to be moved. If  the printhead is not locked, the printer can be 
damaged during shipment.

Verify that the flag in the exit tray is in  the raised position. When the flag is raised, the 
printhead is locked.
4. Wait for the printer to complete the cool-down  period for the ink to solidify. The printer 
shuts down when it is cool enough to move.
5. Unplug the printer after the  cool-down cycle is complete.

Packing the Printer
Repack the printer using the original packing material and box, or a Xerox repackaging kit. If 
you do not have the original packaging, or are  unable to repackage the printer, contact your 
local Xerox service representative. 
Caution:  Damage to the printer resulting from improp er moving or failure to repackage the 
printer properly for shipment,  is not covered by the warranty,  service agreement, or Total 
Satisfaction Guarantee. The Total Satisfaction Gu arantee is available in the United States and 
Canada. Coverage may vary outside these areas;  please contact your local representative for 
details.

Jam at the Exit
To clear a jam at the exit:
1.Open the exit cover.
2. Pull the jammed paper slowly out of the prin ter. Confirm that all paper fragments are 
removed.

If you did not find paper in Step 2, lift the paper guides.
4. Remove any jammed paper.
5. Close the exit cover.

If you did not find paper in the pr evious steps, follow these steps:
a. Pull up the latch on the front of th e printer to open the front cover.
b. Pull the jammed paper slowly out of the prin ter. Confirm that all paper fragments are 
removed.

Close the front cover.
7. If you did not find jammed paper in th e previous steps, follow these steps:
a. Pull all the trays completely out of the printer.

Remove any jammed paper from inside the tr ay slot. Confirm that all paper fragments 
are removed.
c. Replace all trays and push each  one completely into the printer.
