Loading Paper Phaser® 6360 Color Laser Printer 3-13 Setting Tray 1 (MPT) Mode Tray 1 (MPT) Mode defines the printer’s media handling behavior to better fit the kind of printing you want to do. Three distinct modes determine how paper type and size are set for Tray 1 (MPT), and which tray is used if you do not select a specific tray: Automatic (Factory Default): Tray 1 (MPT) is the highest priority tray. It allows incoming print jobs to set paper type and size. It prints from Tray 1 (MPT) if paper is present at the start of a job that does not select another tray. Dynamic: The printer searches the trays to find the paper size and type to match your print job. If no size or type matches are found in Trays 2-5, and Tray 1 (MPT) media size and type have not been set on the printer’s control panel, the printer sets the paper type and size from the print job, and then prints from Tray 1 (MPT). Static: Set the paper type and size on the printer’s control panel so that the printer can determine which tray contains the paper type and size each print job requires. The paper type and size of your print job must match the Tray 1 (MPT) paper type and size settings on the control panel (to print from Tray 1 (MPT). Tray 1 (MPT) Mode controls two aspects: ■Tray 1 (MPT) is used if paper is present in it (and no other tray is specified). ■How the paper type and size are determined if not set from the control panel.
