Network Functions Network Functons Configuring and Controlling the Projector via a Web Browser You can change the settngs of or control the projector va a network by usng a web browser from a PC that s connected to the same network. Failure & Warning Alerts via E-mail The projector can automatically send an alert to specified e-mail addresses when the projector requres mantenance or has encountered an error. Projector Management via SNMP Ths projector s SNMP (Smple Network Management Protocol) complant, allow- ng you to montor t from a remote locaton usng SNMP software. In addton, the projector is able to send failure & warning alerts to a specified PC. Controlling the Projector via Scheduling You can schedule the projector to perform varous functons accordng to the DATE and TIME. Still Image Transfer The projector can dsplay stll mages that are transferred va the network. Network Functions Before using the network functions… To use the network functions of this projector, the projector must be configured to sut your network. Consult wth your network admnstrator before connectng the projector to your network. Incorrect network configuration of this projector may cause problems on your network. Connect to the Gateway (The router/PC that forwards traffic to a destination outsde of the subnet of the transmttng devce) from the network termnal on the projector using a CAT-5 cable and configure the following settings. If using a network with DHCP enabled: The projector’s network settings can be configured automatically. when [DHCP] on the network menu s set to [TURN ON] . Please refer to DHCP n network menu. If a fixed / static IP address is required, please configure your projector ac- cordng to the steps n the followng secton. If using a network system that does not have DHCP enabled or if using a fixed IP address on a network system equipped with DHCP enabled: Configure the following settings on the network menu. 1. [DHCP] : Dsable DHCP (Set [DHCP] to [TURN OFF]). 2. [IP ADDRESS] : Enter an approprate IP address for the projector to connect to your network. 3. [SUBNET MASK] : Enter an approprate SUBNETMASK for the projector to connect to your network. 4. [DEFAULT GATEWAY] : Enter an approprate Gateway (the router/PC that forwards traffic to a destination outside of the subnet of the transmitting de- vce) address for the projector to connect to your network. 57ViewSonic PJ1158
Network Functions Configuring and controlling the projector via a web browser You can adjust or control the projector va a network from a web browser on a PC that s connected to the same network. • Internet Explorer 5.5 or hgher or Netscape 6.2 or hgher are requred. • If JavaScript is disabled in your web browser configuration, you must enable JavaScript in order to use the projector web pages properly. See the Help files for your web browser for detals on how to enable JavaScrpt. • Th s projector s SSL (Secure Socket Layer) compl ant. Please spec fy “https://” when the enterng the projector address. • If no operatons are performed va a web browser for approx. 50 seconds the system will automatically log off. Please Re-log on to continue operations via a web browser. • After you logon, a small, blank wndow wll appear behnd the man operaton wndow. Please do not close ths small, blank wndow. If ths wndow s closed, the system wll automatcally log off after certan perod of tme even f an op - eraton s beng performed. The small, blank wndow wll close when the man operaton wndow s closed. • The small, blank window may be considered a pop-up and be blocked if you are using Windows XP Service Pack 2, or using other security software. If Servce Pack 2 blocks the wndow the followng message wll appear: "Pop-up blocked. To see this pop-up or additional options click here..." Please select "Temporarily Allow Pop-ups" or "Always Allow Pop-ups From This Site..." to allow the window to open. • It s recommended that all web browser updates be nstalled. It s especally recommended that all users runnng Internet Explorer on a Mcrosoft Wndows version prior to Windows XP Service Pack 2 install security update Q832894 (MS04-004) or the web browser interface may not be displayed correctly . And when usng an older verson of Internet Explorer, durng operatons the browser wll log out after 50 seconds. NOTE 58ViewSonic PJ1158
Network Functions When configuring or controlling the projector via a web browser, an ID and pass- word are requred. There are two types of IDs, Admnstrator IDs and User IDs. The followng chart descrbes the dfferences between user and admnstrator IDs. Below are the factory default settngs for admnstrator IDs, user IDs and pass - words. Settings Settngs Refer to the following for configuring or controlling the projector via a web brows- er. Example: If the IP address of the projector s set to 192.168.1.10: 1) Enter [https://192.168.1.10] nto the ad- dress bar of the web browser and the screen n Fg. 1 wll be dsplayed. 2) Enter your ID and password and clck [Logon]. If the logon s successful ether the Fg.2 or Fg.3 screen wll be dsplayed. 3) Click the desired operation or configuration item on the main menu located on the left-hand side of the screen (Fig. 2 or Fig. 3). Settings Network Information All screen mages dsplayed n ths manual are screens of a logon usng an admnstrator ID. Any admnstrator only functons wll not be ds - played when usng a user ID. Refer to the de - scrptons n each table. Displays the projector’s current network configuration settings. ItemDescription DHCPDisplays the DHCP configuration settings. Clck the [Apply] button to save the settngs. • The new configuration settings are activated after restarting the net- work connection. When the configuration settings are changed, you must re- start the network connect on. You can restart the network connect on by clck ng [Network Restart] on the man menu. • If you connect the projector to an exstng network, consult a network admns - trator before settng server addresses. NOTE ItemDescription IP Configuration Configures network settings. DHCP ON Enables DHCP. DHCP OFFDsables DHCP. IP AddressConfigures the IP address when DHCP is disabled. Settings Port Settings Displays and configures communication port settings. SMTP Server IP AddressConfigures the address of the mail server in IP format. Recipient E-mail address Configures the e-mail address of up to five recipients. You can also specfy [TO] or [CC] for each address.
