    e-SHOT (Still Image Transfer) Display
    e-SHOT (Still Image Transfer) Display
    The	projector	can	dsplay	a	stll	mage	that	s	transferred	va	the	network.
    Communication Port
    The following port is used for e-SHOT.
    					TCP 	#9716
    e-SHOT (Still Image Transfer) Settings
    Configure the following items from a web browser when e-SHOT is used.
    Example: If the IP address of the projector is set to 192.168.1.10:
    • e-SHOT is not available via communication ports which are used for 
    the	command	control	(TCP 	#23	and	TCP	#9715).NOTE
    1)	Enter	
    [https://192.168.1.10] 	nto	the	address	bar	of	the	web	browser.
    2)		 Enter	the	 Admnstrator	ID	and	Password	and	
    clck	
    [Logon] .	
    3)	Clck	
    [Port settings] 	on	the	man	menu.
    4)		 Clck	the	
    [Enable] 	check	box	to	open	the	[Im-
    age Transfer Port (Port: 9716)] .	Clck	the	
    [Enable]	check	box	for	the	[Authentication]	
    settng	when	authentcaton	s	requred,	other

    wse	clear	the	check	box.

    [Apply] 	button	to	save	the	settngs.

    NOTE1
    • The new configuration settings are activated after restarting the 
    network. Restart the network connection when any configuration settings are 
    changed.	The	network	connecton	can	be	 restarted	usng	
    [Network Restart]	on	
    the	man	menu.

    e-SHOT (Still Image Transfer) Transmission
    e-SHOT transmission requires an exclusive application for your PC. You can 
    download	t	from	the	V ewSonc	web	ste.	Refer	to	the	manual	for	the	applcaton	
    for	nstructons.

    Command Control via the Network
    Command	Control	va	the	Network
    You can configure and control the projector via the network using RS-232C com-
    mands.
    Communication Port
    The	followng	two	ports	are	assgned	for	the	command	control.

    Command Control Settings
    Configure the following items from a web browser when command control is used.
    Example: If the IP address of the projector is set to 192.168.1.10:
    •	Command	control	s	not	avalable	va	communcaton	port	(TCP 	
    #9716) that is used for the e-SHOT transmission function.
    NOTE
    1)	Enter	
    [https://192.168.1.10] 	nto	the	address	bar	of	the	web	browser.

    Command format
    Command	formats	dffer	among	the	dfferent	communcaton	ports.

    You can use the RS-232C commands without any changes. The reply data format 
    is the same as the RS-232C commands. However, the following reply will be sent 
    back	n	the	event	of	authentcaton	falure	when	authentcaton	s	enabled.

    The	followng	formattng	s	added	to	the	header	(0x02),	Data	length	(0x0D),	
    Checksum (1byte) and Connection ID (1 byte) of the RS-232C commands.

    The	connecton	ID	(the	data	s	same	as	the	connecton	ID	data	on	the	sendng	
    data format) is attached to the RS-232C commands reply data.

    Command Control via the Network
    Automatic Connection Break
    The	TCP	connect on	wll	 be	automat cally	dsconnected	 after	there	s	 no	commun-
    caton	for	30	seconds	after	beng	establshed.
    Authentication
    The	projector	does	not	accept	commands	wthout	authentcaton	success	when	
    authentcaton	s	enabled.	 The	projector	uses	a	challenge	response	type	authent
    -
    caton	wth	an	MD5	(Message	Dgest	5)	algorthm.
    When	the	projector	s	usng	a	LAN,	a	random	eght	bytes	wll	be	returned	f	au
    -
    thentcaton	s	enabled.	Bnd	ths	receved	8	bytes	and	the	authentcaton	pass
    -
    word	and	dgest	ths	data	wth	the	MD5	algorthm	and	add	ths	n	front	of	the	com
    -
    mands	to	send.
    Followng	s	a	sample	f	the	authentcaton	password	s	set	to	“password”	and	the	
    random	eght	bytes	are	“a572f60c”.
    	1)	Select	the	projector.
    	2)	Receve	the	random	eght	bytes	“a572f60c”	from	the	projector.
    	3)		 Bnd	the	random	eght	bytes	“a572f60c”	and	the	authentcaton	password	
    “password”	and	t	becomes	“a572f60cpassword”.
    	4)		 Dgest	ths	bnd	“a572f60cpassword”	wth	MD5	algorthm.
    	
    It	wll	be	“e3d97429adffa11bce1f7275813d4bde”.
    	5)		 Add	ths	“e3d97429adffa11bce1f7275813d4bde”	n	front	of	the	commands	and	
    send	the	data.
    	
    Send	“e3d97429adffa11bce1f7275813d4bde”+command.
    	6)		 When	the	sendng	data	s	correct,	the	command	wll	be	performed	and	the	
    reply	data	wll	be	returned.	Otherwse,	an	authentcaton	error	wll	be	returned.

    Mantenance
    Lamp
    A lamp has finite product life. Using the lamp for long periods of time could cause 
    the	pctures	darker	or	the	color	tone	poor.	Note	that	each	lamp	has	a	dfferent	
    lfetme,	and	some	may	burst	or	burn	out	soon	after	you	start	usng	them.
    	
    Preparaton	of	a	new	lamp	and	early	replacement	are	recommended.	 To	prepare	
    a	new	lamp,	contact	your	dealer	and	tell	the	lamp	type	number.
    Type number = RLC-021
    Replacing the lamp
    1.	Turn	the	projector	off,	and	unplug	the	power	cord.	
    Allow	the	projector	to	cool	for	at	least	45	mnutes.
    2.	Prepare	a	new	lamp.		
    If 	the 	projector 	s 	mounted 	on 	a 	ce lng, 	or 	f	the 	lamp 	
    has 	broken, 	also 	ask 	the 	dealer 	to 	replace 	the 	lamp.
    In case of replacement by yourself,
    3.	Loosen 	the 	screw 	(marked 	by 	arrow) 	of 	the 	lamp 	cover 	
    and 	then 	sl de 	the 	lamp 	cover 	to 	the 	s de 	to 	remove 	t.
    4.	Loosen	the	3	screws	(marked	by	arrow)	of	the	
    lamp,	and	slowly	pck	up	the	lamp	by	the	handles.
    5.	Insert the new lamp, and retighten firmly the 3 
    screws	of	the	lamp	that	are	loosened	n	the	prev
    -
    ous	process	to	lock	t	n	place.
    6.	Slide the lamp cover back in place and firmly fas-
    ten	the	screw	of	the	lamp	cover.
    7.	Turn	the	projector	on	and	reset	the	lamp	tme	us-
    ng	the	LAMP 	TIME	tem	n	the	OPTION	menu.	
    (1)	Press	the	MENU	button	to	dsplay	a	menu.	
    (2)	Pont	at	the	“Go	to	 Advanced	Menu	…”	n	the	menu	
    using the ▼/▲ button, then press the ► button.
    (3)	Pont	at	the	“OPTION”	n	the	left	column	of	the	
    menu using the ▼/▲button, then press the ► but-
    ton.
    (4) Point at the “LAMP TIME” using the ▼/▲ button, then press the ► button. A  dalog	wll	appear.
    (5) Press the ▲ button to select “RESET” on the dialog. It performs resetting the lamp	tme.
    Maintenance
    NOTE 		•	Please	reset	the	lamp	tme	only	when	you	have	replaced	the	lamp,	
    for	a	sutable	ndcaton	about	the	lamp.

     WARNING HIGH VOLTAGE HIGH TEMPERATURE HIGH PRESSURE
    ►The  projector  uses  a  high-pressure  mercury  glass  lamp.  The  lamp  can break	
    wth	 a	loud	 bang,	 or	burn	 out,	 f	 jolted	 or	scratched,	 handled	whle	hot,	or	worn	
    over	 tme.	 Note	that	each	 lamp	has	a	dfferent	 lfetme,	and	some	 may	burst	 or	
    burn	 out	soon	 after	you	start	 usng	 them.	 In	addton,	 when	the	bulb	 bursts,	 t	 s	
    possble	 for	shards	 of	glass
      to  fly  into  the  lamp  housing,  and  for  gas	contanng	mercury 	to	escape	from	the	projector’s	vent	holes.
    ►About disposal of a lamp		•	 Ths	product	contans	a	mercury	lamp;	do	not	
    put	t	n	a	trash.	Dspose	of	t	n	accordance	wth	envronmental	laws.

    For	product	dsposal,	contact	your	local	government	agency	or	www.eae.org	(n	
    the	US)	or	www.epsc.ca	(n	Canada).	
    For	more	nformaton,	call	your	dealer.
    •	 If 	the 	lamp 	should 	break 	(t 	 w ll 	make 	a 	loud 	bang 	when 	 t	 does),	
    unplug 	the 	power 	cord 	from 	the 	outlet, 	and 	make 	sure 	to 	request 	a	
    replacement 	lamp 	from 	your 	local 	dealer. 	Note 	that 	shards 	of 	glass	
    could 	damage 	the 	 ns de 	of 	the 	projector, 	or 	cause 	 njury 	dur ng	
    handlng,	 so	please	 do	not	 try	to	clean	 the	projector	 or	replace	 the	lamp	
    yourself.
    •	 If 	the 	lamp 	should 	break 	(t 	 w ll 	make 	a 	loud 	bang 	when 	 t	 does),	
    vent late 	the 	room 	well, 	and 	make 	sure 	not 	to 	breathe 	the 	gas 	that	
    comes	out	of	the	projector	vents,	or	get	t	n	your	eyes	or	mouth.
    •	 Before	 replacng	 the	lamp,	 turn	the	projector	 off	and	 unplug	 the	power	
    cord, 	then 	wa t 	 at 	least 	45 	m nutes 	for 	the 	lamp 	to 	cool 	suff c ently.	
    Handlng	 the	lamp	 whle	 hot	can	 cause	 burns,	 as	well	 as	damagng	 the	
    lamp.
    •	Never	unscrew	except	the	apponted	(marked	by	an	arrow)	screws.
    • 	 Do 	not 	open 	the 	lamp 	cover 	wh le 	the 	projector 	 s	suspended 	from	
    the	 celng.	 Ths	 s	dangerous,	 snce	 f	the	lamp’s	 bulb	has	broken,	 the	
    shards 	w ll 	fall 	out 	when 	the 	cover 	 s	opened. 	In 	add t on, 	work ng 	 n	
    h gh 	places 	 s	dangerous, 	so 	ask 	your 	local 	dealer 	to 	have 	the 	lamp	
    replaced	even	f	the	bulb	s	not	broken.
    •	 Do	 not	 use	 the	projector	 wth	the	lamp	 cover	 removed.	 To	replace	 the	
    lamp, 	make 	sure 	that 	the 	screws 	are 	tghtened 	frmly. 	Loose 	screws	
    could	result	n	damage	or	njury.
    •	Use only the lamp of the specified type.
    • 	 If 	the 	lamp 	breaks 	soon 	after 	the 	frst 	tme 	 t	  s	used, 	 t	  s	poss ble	
    that 	there 	are 	electr cal 	problems 	elsewhere 	bes des 	the 	lamp. 	If 	th s	
    happens,	contact	your	local	dealer	or	a	servce	representatve.
    • 	
    Handle 	w th 	care: 	jolt ng 	or 	scratch ng 	could 	cause 	the 	lamp 	bulb 	to 	burst 	dur ng 	use.• 	 Us ng 	the 	lamp 	for 	long 	per ods 	of 	tme, 	could 	cause 	 t	 dark, 	not 	to	
    lght	 up	or	to	burst.	 When	 the	pctures	 appear	dark,	or	when	 the	color	
    tone	 s	 poor,	please	 replace	 the	lamp	 as	soon	 as	possble.	 Do	not	 use	
    old	(used)	lamps;	ths	s	a	cause	of	breakage.

    Please  check  and  clean  the  air  filter  periodically.  If  the  air  filter  becomes  clogged 
    by  dust  or  the  like,  internal  temperatures  rise,  which  could  cause  a  fire,  a  burn  or 
    malfuncton 	to 	the 	projector. 	When 	the 	 nd cators 	or 	a 	message 	prompts 	you 	to	
    clean the air filter, comply with it as soon as possible. Note that the projector may 
    shut	down,	when	the	projector	heats	too	much.
    Please replace the air filter when it is damaged or too soiled. Preparation of a new 
    air filter is recommended. To prepare a new air filter, contact with your dealer and 
    tell the air filter type number.
    Cleaning the air filter
    1.	Turn	the	projector	off,	and	unplug	the	
    power cord. Allow the projector to suffi-
    cently	cool	down.
    2.	Use	a	vacuum	cleaner	on	and	around	the	
    filter cover.
    3.	Hold the filter cover knobs while lifting it. 
    The filter unit made up the filter cover and 
    others	wll	come	off.
    4.	Use a vacuum cleaner for the filter vent of 
    the projector and the filter frame side of 
    the filter unit.	
    If the air filter is damaged or too soiled, re-
    place	t	accordng	to	the	followng	procedure	
    number	5	to	7.	Otherwse,	please	jump	to	
    the	procedure	number	8.
    5.	To remove the filter frame, hold the filter 
    cover while holding and pulling the filter 
    frame’s	knob	by	another	hand.
    6.	Replace the air filter with new one. It is 
    recommended that the fluted surface of 
    the air filter faces the filter cover.
    7.	Put the filter frame back. 
    8.	Put the filter unit back into the projector.
