25 Checking before use Make sure that before use the pistol is – unloaded (cartridge chamber free) and – that the barrel is free of obstructions. Check the pistol for proper condition and troublefree functioning. 27 Decocking (versions with decocking lever) After working the slide or firing the last shot the hammer remains cocked. For decocking Press the decocking lever downward until the hammer is decocked (see figure – de- cocking). By this the hammer is caught by the catch and can not touch the firing pin. 29 Cleaning materials and kits For cleaning and maintenance of the pistol the following is necessary: – commercial weapon cleaning kit for caliber 9 mm /.40 S &W/.45 Auto, – cleaning rods and rags, – cleaning solvent and conserving agents without chlorine or acids. Do not clean with – objects made of metal, – plastics, e. g. Nylon, Perlon or something similar, – water.
