S – VIDEO USB COMPUTER IN 2DVI - I MCI / WI R – AUDIO IN – L(MONO) VIDEO Pb / Cb – Pr / Cr Y – MONITOR OUT COMPUTER IN 1AUDIO IN 1 AUDIO IN 2 AUDIO OUT RESET CONTROL PORT 11 CONNECTING PROJECTOR TERMINALS OF PROJECTOR When controlling the computer with Remote Control Unit of this projector, connect the mouse port of your personal computer to this connector. (Refer to P12.) Connect the S-VIDEO output from video equipment to this jack. (Refer to P13.) Connect an audio output (stereo) from computer to these jacks. (Refer to P12.) CONTROL PORT CONNECTOR COMPUTER AUDIO INPUT (1 and 2) JACKS Connect the audio output from video equipment to these jacks. (Refer to P13.) When the audio output is monaural, connect it to L (MONO) jack. AUDIO INPUT JACKSVIDEO INPUT JACKS S-VIDEO INPUT JACK Connect the component video output from video equipment to connect the component video outputs to Y, Pb/Cb and Pr/Cr jacks. (Refer to P13.) COMPUTER INPUT 2 (DIGITAL/ANALOG) Media Card Imager / Wireless Imager /PJ-Net Organizer TERMINAL This projector has input and output terminals on its back for connecting computers and video equipment. Refer to figures on pages 11 to 13 and connect properly. Connect an external audio amplifier to this jack. (Refer to P12, 13.) This projector uses a micro processor to control this unit, and occasionally, this micro processor may malfunction and need to be reset. This can be done by pressing RESET button with a pen, which will shut down and restart the unit. Do not use RESET function excessively. RESET BUTTON When controlling the computer with Remote Control Unit of this projector, connect USB port of your personal computer to this connector. (Refer to P12.) USB CONNECTOR (Series B) ✽Do not press this button. This button is used for our optional accessories. Connect a monitor to this terminal. This terminal outputs a computer input signal (except Digital signal input on DVI terminal). (Refer to P12.) MONITOR OUTPUT TERMINAL Connect computer output (Digital / Analog DVI-I type), Media Card Imager*, Wireless Imager* or PJ-Net Organizer* to this terminal. (Refer to P12) *optional accessories VIDEO INPUT JACK Connect the composite video output from video equipment to connect this jack. (Refer to P13.) (P20, 36) IMAGE BUTTON Used to select image level. (P28, 33) LOCK FREEZE SELECT D.ZOOM MUTE VOLUME- MENU NO SHOW IMAGE VOLUME+ KEYSTONE LASER P-TIMER ZOOM COMPUTER 1 COMPUTER 2 VIDEO FOCUS LENS AUTO PCON-OFF OPERATION OF REMOTE CONTROL ONALL OFF ALL-OFF SWITCH Left Side When using Remote Control Unit, turn this switch to “ON.” And turn it to “ALL OFF” when it is not used. This Remote Control Unit emits a laser beam as laser pointer function from Laser Light Window. When LASER button is pressed, laser light goes on. And when LASER button is being pressed for more than 1 minute or LASER button is released, light goes off. LASER POINTER INDICATOR lights RED and Laser is emitted with RED light to indicate laser beam is being emitted. Laser emitted is a class IIlaser; therefore, do not look into Laser Light Window or shine laser beam on yourself or other people. Three marks below are caution labels for laser beam. CAUTION: Use of controls, adjustments or performance of procedures other than those specified herein may result hazardous radiation exposure. Laser Light Window These caution labels are put on remote control. LASER POINTER FUNCTION POWER ON-OFF BUTTON Used to turn projector on or off. (P19) LASER BUTTON Used to operate Laser Pointer Function. Laser beam is emitted while pressing this button within 1 minute. When using this Laser Pointer for more than 1 minute, release LASER button and press it again. Used as a PC mouse in Wireless Mouse Operation. (P40) MOUSE POINTER Used as a PC mouse in Wireless Mouse Operation. (P40) RIGHT CLICK BUTTON Lights red while laser beam is emitted from Laser Light Window. Lights green when drag ON position. (P40) LASER POINTER (Drag ON) INDICATOR LASER POINTER INDICATOR LENS SHIFT BUTTON Used to select LENS SHIFT function. (P20) MUTE BUTTON Used to mute sound. 15 BEFORE OPERATION To insure safe operation, please observe following precautions : Use (2) AA, UM3 or R06 type alkaline batteries. Replace two batteries at same time. Do not use a new battery with an used battery. Avoid contact with water or liquid. Do not expose Remote Control Unit to moisture, or heat. Do not drop Remote Control Unit. If a battery has leaked on Remote Control Unit, carefully wipe case clean and install new batteries. Danger of explosion if battery is incorrectly replaced. Dispose of used batteries according to batteries manufacturers instructions and local rules. Press lid down- ward and slide it. Remove battery compartment lid.Slide batteries into compartment.Replace compartment lid. Two AA size batteriesFor correct polarity (+ and –), be sure battery terminals are in contact with pins in compartment. And it is bright when the projector is in stand-by mode.Turns yellow when the life of the projection lamp draws to an end. (P38)Flashes red when internal projector temperature is too high. (P41) Used to select input source. (P22, 31) Used to select an item or adjust value in ON-SCREEN MENU. They are also used to pan the image in DIGITAL ZOOM +/–mode. 17 HOW TO OPERATE ON-SCREEN MENU FLOW OF ON-SCREEN MENU OPERATION Display ON-SCREEN MENU Press MENU button to display ON-SCREEN MENU (MENU BAR). A red frame is POINTER. Move POINTER (red frame) to MENU ICON that you want to select by pressing POINT RIGHT / LEFT buttons. Adjust ITEM DATA by pressing POINT RIGHT / LEFT buttons. Refer to the following pages for details of respective adjustments. Press POINT DOWN button and move POINTER (red frame or red arrow) to ITEM that you want to adjust, and then press SELECT button to show ITEM DATA. Select Menu to be adjusted Control or adjust item through ON-SCREEN MENU 1 2 4 3 You can control and adjust this projector through ON-SCREEN MENU. Refer to the following pages to operate each adjustment on ON-SCREEN MENU. 2 MOVING POINTER 3 SELECT ITEM Move the pointer (✽see below) or adjust the value of item by pressing POINT button(s) on Top Control or on Remote Control Unit. Select the item or set selected function by pressing SELECT button. OPERATING ON-SCREEN MENU ✽Pointer is the icon on ON-SCREEN MENU to select the item. (Refer to P36, 37) SOUND MENU Used to adjust volume or mute sound. (Refer to P21) IMAGE SELECT MENU Used to select image level among Standard, Real and Image 1 ~ 4. (Refer to P28) FOR PC SOURCEPress MENU BUTTON while connecting to PC input source. AV SYSTEM MENU Used to select system of selected video source. (Refer to P32) IMAGE ADJUST MENU Used to adjust picture image. [Contrast/Brightness/Color /Tint/Color Temp. /White balance (R/G/B) /Sharpness/Gamma /Noise Reduction/Progressive] (Refer to P34, 35) FOR VIDEO SOURCEPress MENU BUTTON while connecting to VIDEO input source. Same function as Menu for PC source. INPUT MENU Used to select input source either Video or Computer. (Refer to P31) PC ADJUST MENU Used to adjust parameters to match with input signal format. (Refer to P25-27) IMAGE SELECT MENU Used to select image level among Standard, Cinema and Image 1 ~ 4. (Refer to P33)SCREEN MENU Used to set size of image to Normal or Wide. (Refer to P35) GUIDE WINDOW Shows selected item of ON- SCREEN MENU. Same function as Menu for PC source. INPUT MENU Used to select input source either Computer or Video. (Refer to P22) SCREEN MENU Used to adjust size of image. [Normal /True/Wide /Digital zoom +/–] (Refer to P30)
19 BASIC OPERATION TURNING ON PROJECTOR Connect the projectors AC Power Cord into an AC outlet. LAMP Indicator lights RED, and READY Indicator lights GREEN.2 3 TURNING OFF PROJECTOR Press POWER ON-OFF button on Top Control or on Remote Control Unit, and a message Power off? appears on a screen. Press POWER ON-OFF button again to turn off the projector. LAMP Indicator lights bright and READY Indicator turns off. After the projector is turned off, Cooling Fans operate (for 90 seconds). During this Cooling Down period, this appliance cannot be turned on. 1 2 TO MAINTAIN THE LIFE OF LAMP, ONCE YOU TURN PROJECTOR ON, WAIT AT LEAST 5 MINUTES BEFORE TURNING IT OFF. TURNING ON / OFF PROJECTOR 1Complete peripheral connections (with Computer, VCR, etc.) before turning on projector. (Refer to CONNECTING PROJECTOR on pages 11~13 for connecting the equipment.) 3When projector has cooled down, READY Indicator lights GREEN again and you can turn the projector on. After cooling down completely, disconnect AC Power Cord. Power off? Message disappears after 4 seconds. When “Power Management” function is ON, projector detects signal interruption and turns off Projection Lamp automatically. Refer to “Power management” on pages 37. NOTE : When “On start” function is ON, this projector is turned on automatically by connecting AC Power Cord to an AC outlet. (Refer to page 37.) Press POWER ON-OFF button on Top Control or on Remote Control Unit to ON. LAMP Indicator dims, and Cooling Fans start to operate. Preparation Display appears on a screen and count-down starts. The signal from PC or Video source appears after 30 seconds. Current Input position and Lamp mode status are also displayed on screen for 5 seconds. (Refer to LAMP MODE on page 37.) 30 Preparation Display disappears after 30 seconds. Computer 1 Input position and Lamp mode status When WARNING TEMP. indicator flashes red, projector is automatically turned off. Wait at least 5 minutes, confirm READY indicator will light green and projector may be turned on by pressing POWER ON-OFF button. When both WARNING TEMP. and READY indicators to flash, a projector cannot be turned on by pressing POWER ON-OFF button. In this case, follow procedures below: 1. Disconnect AC Power Cord from an AC outlet. 2. Turn a projector on again. (Refer to steps 2-3 of TURNING ON PROJECTOR on this page.) When WARNING TEMP. indicator continues to flash, follow procedures below: 1. Disconnect AC Power Cord from an AC outlet. 2. Check Air Filters for dust accumulation. 3. Clean Air Filters. (See AIR FILTER CARE AND CLEANING section on page 41.) 4. Turn a projector on again. (Refer to steps 2-3 of TURNING ON PROJECTOR on this page.) If WARNING TEMP. indicator should still continue to flash, contact sales dealer where you purchased this projector or service center.
20 BASIC OPERATION ADJUSTING SCREEN Message disappears after 4 seconds. Message disappears after 4 seconds. Zoom Focus ZOOM ADJUSTMENT FOCUS ADJUSTMENT 1Press ZOOM button on Top Control or ZOOM /button on Remote Control Unit. The message “Zoom” is displayed. 2Press ZOOM button or POINT UP button to make image larger, and press ZOOM button or POINT DOWN button to make image smaller. 1Press FOCUS button on Top Control or FOCUS /button on Remote Control Unit. The message “Focus” is displayed. 2Adjust focus of image by pressing FOCUS /button or POINT UP/DOWN button(s) . KEYSTONE ADJUSTMENT 1Press KEYSTONE button on Top Control or Remote Control Unit or select Keystone on SETTING menu. (Refer to page 36.) Keystone dialog box appears. 2Correct keystone distortion by pressing POINT UP/DOWN/LEFT/RIGHT button(s). Press POINT UP button to reduce the upper part of the image, and press POINT DOWN button to reduce the lower part. Press POINT LEFT button to reduce the left part, and press POINT RIGHT button to reduce the right part. If a projected picture has keystone distortion, correct the image with KEYSTONE adjustment. •Arrows are white in no correction. •Arrow(s) of direction being corrected turn(s) red. •Arrow(s) disappear(s) at the maximum correction. •If you press the KEYSTONE button on Top Control or on Remote Control Unit once more while the keystone dialog box is being displayed, the keystone adjustment will be canceled. Lens shift LENS SHIFT ADJUSTMENT Press LENS SHIFT button on Top Control or LENS SHIFT / button on Remote Control Unit. Message “Lens shift” is displayed. Press POINT UP button or LENS SHIFT button to move image up, press POINT DOWN or LENS SHIFT button to move image down. NOTE; Focus adjustment may not function properly if the image is corrected by KEYSTONE adjustment. Reduce the upper width with POINT UP button. Reduce the lower width with POINT DOWN button. Reduce the left part with POINT LEFT button. Reduce the right part with POINT RIGHT button. 1 2
