●Sound Test:	Use	to	check	for	sound	problems.	Sound	test	plays	a	built-in	
melody	that	tests	both	speakers.
	
NIf	you	hear	no	sound	from	the	TV’s	speakers,	make	sure	Speaker Select	
is	set	to	TV Speaker	in	the	Sound	menu	and	then	try	the	speakers	again	
before	performing	the	sound	test.
	
NYou	will	hear	the	melody	during	the	test	even	if	you	have	set	Speaker 
Select	to	External Speaker	or	have	muted	the	sound	by	pressing	the	
MUTE	button.
Ye s :	Select	Yes	if	you	can	hear	sound	from	only	one	speaker	or	from	neither	
speaker	during	the	sound	test.	There	may	be	a	problem	with	the	TV.	Contact	
Samsung’s	Call	Center	for	assistance.
No:	Select	No	if	you	can	hear	sound	from	the	speakers.	There	may	be	a	
problem	with	your	external	equipment.	Please	check	your	connections.	If	the	
problem	persists,	refer	to	the	external	device’s	user	manual.

●Signal Information:	(digital	channels	only)	The	reception	quality	of	over-
the-air	HD	channels	is	either	perfect	or	the	channels	are	unavailable.	Signal	
Information	displays	HD	channel	signal	strength	so	you	can	adjust	your	
antenna	to	increase	signal	strength	and	receive	HD	channels.
	
●Reset:	Reset	all	settings	to	the	factory	defaults	except	network	settings.
	
NThe	PIN	input	screen	appears	before	the	setup	screen.
	
NEnter	your	4-digit	PIN	or	the	default	PIN	(0000)	if	you	have	not	set	your	
own	PIN.	You	can	change	the	PIN	using	the	Change PIN	option.	(MENU

The	Software Update	menu	lets	you	upgrade	your	TV’s	software	to	the	latest	
version.
Current ver.:	This	is	the	software	version	already	installed	in	the	TV.
	
●Update now:	You	can	perform	a	Software Update	by	downloading	the	latest	
firmware	from	www.samsung.com	to	a	USB	memory	device,	attaching	the	
device	to	your	TV,	and	then	selecting	Update now.

							To upgrade the software, follow these steps:
1. 	 Visit	www.samsung.com.
2. 	 Click	SUPPORT	on	the	top	right	of	the	page.
3. 	 Enter	the	product's	model	number	into	the	search	field.	As	you	enter	the	 model	number,	a	drop	down	will	display	products	that	match	the	model	
number.
4. 	 Left	click	your	product's	model	number	in	the	drop	down	list.
5. 	 On	the	page	that	appears,	scroll	down	to	and	then	click	Firmware  Manuals & Downloads.
6. 	 Click	Firmware	in	the	center	of	the	page.
7. 	 Click	the	ZIP	button	in	the	File	column	on	the	right	side	of	the	page.
8. 	 Click	Send	in	the	first	pop-up	that	appears.	Click	OK	in	the	second	pop- up	to	download	and	save	the	firmware	file	to	your	PC.

							9. 	 Unzip	the	zip	archive	to	your	computer.	You	should	have	a	single	folder	with	the	same	name	as	the	zip	file.
10. 		Copy	the	folder	to	a	USB	flash	drive.
11. 	In	the	product’s	menu,	go	to	Support	 →	Software Update.
12. 	Select	Update now.
13. 	The	product	searches	for	the	software	on	the	USB	drive.	When	it	finds	the 	
software,	the	Update Request	pop-up	appears.
14. 	Select	OK.	The	product	upgrades	the	software,	turns	off,	and	then	turns	 on	automatically.
	
NBe	careful	not	to	turn	off	the	power	until	the	update	is	complete.	The	TV	will	
turn	off	and	on	automatically	after	completing	the	firmware	update.	When	you	
update	software,	all	video	and	audio	settings	you	have	made	will	return	to	
their	default	settings.	We	advise	you	to	write	down	your	settings	so	that	you	
can	easily	reset	them	after	the	update.

Select	the	Use Mode	suitable	for	the	location	in	which	you	will	use	the	TV.	We	
strongly	recommend	you	select	Home Use.
	
NIf	your	TV	has	been	unintentionally	set	to	Store Demo,	you	can	change	the	
mode	with	this	option.
	
●Home Use:	Home Use	is	the	default	setting.
	
●Store Demo:	Store Demo	is	for	retail	environments	only.	If	you	select	Store 
Demo,	some	functions	will	not	work	and	the	picture	settings	will	be	reset	
every	30	minutes.

Using the Wireless Network
  for PDP 4900 series  
Using	a	wireless	router	or	modem	and	the	Samsung	Wireless	LAN	Adapter	
(WIS09ABGNX,	WIS12ABGNX),	you	can	connect	your	TV	to	a	wireless	network.
	
NFor	detailed	information	about	the	wireless	network	connection,	refer	to	the	
paper	user's	manual.
	
NNOTE
	
●If	the	wireless	router	or	modem	supports	DHCP,	your	TV	can	use	a	DHCP	
or	static	IP	address	to	connect	to	the	wireless	network.
	
●Select	a	channel	for	the	wireless	router	or	modem	that	is	not	currently	
being	used.	If	the	channel	set	for	the	wireless	router	or	modem	is	currently 	
being	used	by	another	device	nearby,	this	will	result	in	interference	and	
communication	failure.

●You	must	use	the	“Samsung	Wireless	LAN	Adapter”	(WIS09ABGNX,	
WIS12ABGNX)	to	connect	the	TV	to	a	wireless	network.	The	Samsung	
Wireless	LAN	Adapter	and	the	USB	extension	Cable	are	sold	
separately	and	are	offered	by	selected	retailers,	E-commerce	sites,	and	
SamsungParts.com.
	
●Your	TV	supports	only	the	following	wireless	network	security	protocols.
	
–Authentication	Mode:	WEP,	WPAPSK,	WPA2PSK
	
–Encryption	Type:	WEP,	TKIP,	AES
	
●If	you	select	the	HIGH	PURE	THROUGHPUT	(Greenfield)	802.11n	mode	
and	the	Encryption	type	is	set	to	WEP	or	TKIP	in	your	wireless	router,	
Samsung	TVs	will	not	support	a	connection	in	compliance	with	new	Wi-Fi	
certification	specifications.
	
●If	your	wireless	router	supports	WPS	(Wi-Fi	Protected	Setup),	you	can	
connect	to	the	network	via	PBC	(Push	Button	Configuration)	or	PIN	
(Personal	Identification	Number).	WPS	will	automatically	configure	the	
SSID	and	WPA	key	in	either	mode.
