You can select the default contrast mode to fax your originals lighter or 
darker.

Confirming a transmission 
When the last page of your original has been sent successfully, the 
machine beeps and returns to Standby mode. 
When something goes wrong while sending your fax, an error message 
appears on the display. For a list of error messages and their meanings, 
see page 13.3. If you receive an error message, press  Stop/Clear to 
clear the message and try to send the fax again.

the reception is completed.
Receiving manually using an extension 
telephone
This features works best when you are using an extension telephone 
connected to the EXT socket on the back of your machine. You can 
receive a fax from someone you are talking to on the extension telephone 
without going to the fax machine.
When you receive a call on the extension phone and hear fax tones, 
press the keys  9 on the extension phone. The...

You can activate secure receiving mode without setting a

Other ways to fax
Sending a fax to multiple destinations
You can use the  Broadcasting button, which allows you to send a fax to 
multiple locations. Originals are automatically stored in memory and sent 
to a remote station. After transmission, the originals are automatically 
erased from memory.
1 Load originals face up into the ADF, or place a single original face 
down on the scanner glass.

Canceling a delayed fax
1 Press  Menu  until Fax Feature  appears on the top line of the display.
2 Press the  Scroll buttons until  Cancel Job appears and press  Enter.
3 Press the  Scroll buttons until the fax job you want appears and 
press  Enter.

The selected fax job is deleted from memory.

Using the advanced fax features
To use the advanced fax options:
1 Press  Menu until Advanced Fax  appears on the top line of the 
display.
2 Press the  Scroll buttons until the menu item you want appears and 
press  Enter.
3 Press the  Scroll buttons until the desired status appears or enter 
the value for the option you have selected, and press  Enter.
4 If necessary, repeat steps 2 through 3.
5 Press  Stop/Clear  to return to Standby mode.

Setting up Phone Book
You can set up  Phone Book with the fax numbers you use most 
frequently. Your machine provides you with the following features for 
setting up  Phone Book :
• Speed dial numbers
• Group dial numbers
Speed dial numbers
You can store up to 200 frequently-used fax numbers in speed dial 
numbers.
Registering a speed dial number
1 Press  Phone Book  until Store/Edit  appears on the bottom line of 
the display and press  Enter.

Using group dial numbers
When you are prompted to enter a destination number while sending a 
fax, enter the group dial number at which you stored the number you 
want.
• For a one-digit (0-9) group dial number, press and hold the 
corresponding digit button on the number keypad.
• For a two- or three-digit group dial number, press the first digit  button(s) and then hold down the last digit button.
