    •A scene magnified by the electronic zoom
    function may be inferior in picture quality to a
    non-magnified one.
    •The electronic zoom does not function in the
    preset position setting mode.
    •To set preset positions directly from the WV-
    CU550CJ, WV-CU360CJ or WV-CU161 System
    Controller, you need to set the electronic zoom
    function temporarily to OFF.
    ●Electronic Sensitivity Enhancement
    (SENS UP)
    1. Move the cursor to SENS UP and select the
    desired electronic sensitivity enhancement mode
    by using the joystick.
    The factory default setting is OFF.
    The electronic sensitivity enhancement mode
    changes as follows by operating the joystick:
    Note:While the SENS UP function is selected, noise or
    spots may appear in the picture when the sensitivi-
    ty of the camera is increased. This is a normal phe-
    nomenon.
    ●Motion Detector (MOTION DET)
    1. Move the cursor to MOTION DET and select ON or
    OFF by using the joystick.
    The factory default setting is OFF.
    2. If ON is selected, press the CAM (SET) key.
    The MOTION DETECT menu appears.You can mask the areas in this menu.
    3. Move the cursor to MASK SET and press the CAM
    (SET) key.
    48 mask areas appear on the monitor screen.
    Refer to the Light Control Setting on page 38 for
    masking operations.
    4. After masking areas, press the MON (ESC) key.
    The MOTION DETECT menu appears on the moni-
    tor screen.
    5. Move the cursor to ALARM and select ON or OFF
    by using the joystick.
    The factory default setting is OFF.
    ON:The alarm signal is supplied while the display
    mode is activated.
    OFF:The alarm signal is not supplied while the dis-
    play mode is activated.
    6. Move the cursor to DISPLAY MODE.
    Press the CAM (SET) key to see the present set-
    ting. The areas that detect motion blink.
    7. Move the cursor to LEVEL by using the joystick.
    Obtain the optimum detection level by moving the
    joystick to the right or left.
    Note:Repeat the above procedures until you obtain
    the adjusted results.

    Move the cursor to DWELL TIME, and select a time
    with the Joystick.
    When the time specified here elapses after motion
    detection, the camera will notify the connected
    device of the alarm activation. The default setting is
    2 seconds.
    Selectable times (seconds): 2s, 5s, 10s, 30s
    Important Notices:
    •The following conditions should be met for motion
    detection.
    1) The picture size on the screen should be larg-
    er than 1/48 of the actual picture size.
    2) The contrast ratio between the object and the
    background picture should be more than 5 %
    at the maximum detection level.
    3) The time it takes the object to move from one
    end of the screen to the other should be more
    than 0.1 seconds.
    •Also under the following conditions, mask or adjust
    the detection level to prevent malfunction.
    1) When leaves, or curtains, etc., are swayed by
    the wind.
    2) When a picture has a high noise content due
    to low light conditions.
    3) When the object is illuminated by lighting
    equipment that constantly turns on and off.
    ●Special Menu (SPECIAL)
    This menu allows you to adjust and set up the following
    items and functions: chroma level, aperture level,
    pedestal level, demo mode function, digital noise
    reduction function and refresh function.
    You can also reset your parameters to the values preset
    at the factory.
    This menu lets you adjust and set up the picture quality
    to meet your requirements.
    •Move the cursor to SPECIAL and press the [F2]
    button of the WV-CU550CJ. The special menu
    appears on the monitor screen.
    For the WV-RM70, keep pressing the Right and Left
    switches simultaneously for 2 seconds or more.
    (1) Chroma Level Setting (CHROMA GAIN)
    (2) Aperture Level Setting (AP GAIN)
    (3) Pedestal Level Setting (PEDESTAL)
    (4) Camera Phase (Hue) Setting (HUE)
    1. Move the cursor to HUE. The I cursor appears in
    inverse video.
    2. While observing the vector scope or color video
    monitor, adjust the chroma phase (hue) by using
    the joystick. The cursor moves to the right or left.
    To reset to the factory setup, press the [F2] button
    of the WV-CU550CJ.
    (For the WV-RM70, keep pressing the Right and
    Left switches simultaneously for 2 seconds or
    more.)
    (5) Digital Noise Reduction (DNR)
    DNR may be used to improve quality under low
    light conditions. 
    LOW:DNR level is low.
    HIGH:DNR level is high.
    (6) Demonstration Display (DEMO MODE)
    You can output the upside-down image by using
    Demo Mode.
    Note:Never face the camera at a place exposed to
    strong light sources for a long time. If light
    sources such as spot light cause burn-in on the
    display screen, part of image may discolor due
    to deterioration of the color filter in the CCD
    when changing the aim of the camera etc.

    (7) To Restore the Camera Default Position
    (REFRESH)
    Move the cursor to REFRESH by using the joystick
    and press the [F2] button of the WV-CU550CJ.
    For the WV-RM70, WV-CU360CJ or WV-CU161C,
    keep pressing the Right and Left switches simulta-
    neously for 2 seconds or more.
    (8) Camera Resetting (CAMERA RESET)
    Move the cursor to CAMERA RESET by using the
    joystick and press the [F3] button of the WV-
    CU550CJ.
    The camera is reset to the factory settings.
    For the WV-RM70, keep pressing the Right, Left
    and Set switches simultaneously for 2 seconds or
    more. For the WV-CU360CJ or WV-CU161C, keep
    pressing the Right and Left switches and the
    numeric button 5 simultaneously for 2 seconds or
    more.
    (9) To Close the SPECIAL Menu
    Move the cursor to RET and press the CAM (SET)
    key.
    The setup menu appears on the monitor screen.
    Reset to the Factory Default Settings
    Any of the above settings plus the ALC/MANUAL level
    control and phase adjustments can be reset to the fac-
    tory default settings by placing the cursor over the
    desired mode and then pressing the [F2] button of the
    WV-CU550CJ. For the WV-RM70, keep pressing the
    Right and Left switches simultaneously for 2 seconds or
    more.

    You will be prompted by the authentication dialog box. Enter admin in the user line if you have not registered it yet,
    or enter the registered user name and password if user authentication is applied. Menu control buttons are lined up in
    the lower part of the screen.
    Note:The following pages mainly describe the unique setup operations of the PC. Refer to PRIOR TO SETUP on
    page 26 for common setup operations with PC.

    at SPECIAL in the CAMERA SET UP menu.

    PC. The operations in these windows are described on
    the following pages.
    Click the setup menu buttons on the screen.
    The following appear:

    ■Image Setup
    1. Click the [Image] button.
    2. Select the parameter for each item by pressing the
    [o] button.
    Refresh Interval:Fast, Middle, Slow, and Very
    SlowResolution:640x480*, 640x240, 320x240, and
    160x120
    Quality of Image:Super Fine, Fine, Normal, and
    Low
    Bandwidth Control:32 kbps, 64 kbps, 128 kbps,
    256 kbps, 512 kbps, 1024 kbps, and Unlimited
    3. Click the [SET & REBOOT] button.
    It will take about 5 seconds to complete the reboot.
    4. Click the [Go to Main Menu] button to go back to
    the main page.
    *: The 640 x 240 selection is good to display moving
    images without aliasing, while 640 x 480 selection
    is good to display motionless images.
    Note:Wait around 5 seconds or more when exe-
    cuting [SET&REBOOT] button.
    ■Alarm Setup
    1. Click the [Alarm] button.
    2. External Alarm
    •Select ON or OFF, and click the [SET] button.
    ON:Alarm inputs received via the ALARM IN 1
    and ALARM IN 2 terminals.
    OFF:Alarm inputs not received

    							-47- Note:Input an external alarm signal of more than
    100 ms.
    3. Alarm Preset
    Select the item by pressing the [o] button, and
    click the [SET] button.
    1POSI:Camera performs according to Preset posi-
    tion 1 when there is input at ALARM IN 1.
    2POSI:Camera performs according to Preset posi-
    tion 2 when there is input at ALARM IN 2.
    OFF:No alarm preset used. Set Preset position 1
    and 2 in advance when using this function.
    The default setting is OFF.
    4. E-mail Notice Setup
    E-mail Notice:In ON position, an e-mail is sent
    when alarm arises. The default is OFF.
    E-mail Server Address:Input the Mail Server
    Address in not more than 128 numbers or
    small letters of one byte. When using DNS,
    input host name. Domain name.
    Sender E-mail Address:Input the Sender E-mail
    Address. The default is NW_Camera.
    It is named NW_Camera@(IP address of cam-
    era) when input without the @ mark.
    •Select ON or OFF for Attach Image.
    ON:Attaches the alarmed picture to the e-
    mail.
    OFF:No picture attached. The default setting
    is OFF.
    •Click the [SET & REBOOT] button.
    •Enter up to 4 destination e-mail addresses,
    and click the [SET] button. 
    •Click the [DEL (delete)] button after selecting
    an unwanted e-mail address to delete it.
    Notes:
    •The e-mail address of the sender is one and
    the same as that of the administrator.
    •Sending mails is not possible in an environ-
    ment that requires authentication for SMPTE or
    POP3.
    5. Recording Setup
    The image fields before and after an alarm input
    are stored in the memories of the cameras.
    •Set the number of image frames for pre
    recording (0 - 20) and post recording (1 - 20).
    •Set the recording rate (fps: frame per second).
    Pre-recording rates:1/10, 1/5, 1/3, 1/2, 1, 2,
    3.3, 5 ..... The default setting is 1.
    Post-recording rates:1/10, 1/5, 1/3, 1/2, 1, 2,
    3.3, 5, 10 ..... The default setting is 1.
    •Click the [SET & REBOOT] button.
    6. Panasonic Protocol Setup
    •Select ON or OFF.
    ON:Sends alarm notice mails to the cus-
    tomized destinations.
    OFF:Does not send.
    •Enter the destination port. The port number
    is exclusively assigned to this function, and
    any other usage is not allowed.
    •Enter a number of retries from 1 to 25.•Click the [SET] button.
    •Enter a maximum of 8 destination IP
    addresses, and click the [SET] button.
    •Click the [DEL (delete)] button after select-
    ing an unwanted destination to cancel it.
    Destination IP Address
    Input the Panasonic Protocol Destination IP
    Address, and click the [SET] button.
    7. External Terminal Output Setup
    Alarm output is supplied from the Alarm OUT con-
    nector when Terminal 1, Terminal 2 or VMD is in
    use.
    •Select a signal type : 
    Pulse:Holds active status during the specified
    time width.
    Latch:Holds active status until reset manually.
    •Enter the pulse width (necessary number x
    100 ms) if you selected Pulse. A number from
    1 to 100 is applicable.
    •Click the [SET & REBOOT] button.
    8. External Alarm Reset
    •Click the [Alarm Reset] button to cancel the
    activated alarm.
    Note:Wait around 5 seconds or more when exe-
    cuting [SET&REBOOT] button.
    ■FTP Client Setup
    Image files can be transferred to the FTP server within
    the scheduled time zone. 
    						
    							-48- 1. Click the [FTP Client] button.
    2. Common Setup
    •Enter the FTP server address.
    A hostname.domainname can be entered
    when using the DNS function.
    •Enter the user name in a maximum of 16 char-
    acters.
    •Enter user name and password in a maximum
    of 16 characters to access the FTP server.
    •Select Sequential or Passive as the transmis-
    sion mode. Passive is recommended when
    Sequential does not perform properly.
    •Complete schedule 1 and 2 by specifying the
    transmission time zone and the day of the
    week.
    3. Non-Alarm (FTP) Image Transmission Setup
    •Select ON or OFF to transmit ordinary image
    files except in an alarm condition.
    ON:Transmits files when a scheduled time
    comes.
    OFF:Does not transmit, and no schedule is
    applied.
    •Enter the receiver directory.
    •Enter the file name and click FIX or DATE.
    FIX: Uses repeatedly a single file name when
    overwriting new data.
    DATE:Creates and attaches a serial number
    and a date-and-time to the entered file
    name.
    •Select the transmission interval by pressing
    the [o] button.
    Available times (seconds):0.2 - 0.9, 1 - 1
    440
    Available times (minutes):1 - 1 440
    Notes:
    •The transmission may be longer due to the
    network speed and/or traffic conditions.
    •An alarm image precedes a non-alarm image
    in transmission to the FTP server. The non-
    alarm image may not be sent when alarm acti-
    vations frequently arise.
    4. Alarm (FTP) Image Transmission Setup
    The alarm setup window specifies the profile of the
    file transmission such as the number of files and
    the frame rate (fps).
    •Select ON or OFF to transmit the image files.
    ON:Transmits the files when alarm arises.
    OFF:Does not transmit.
    •Enter the receiver directory.
    •Enter the file name.
    5. Click the [SET & REBOOT] button.
    Note:Wait around 5 seconds or more when exe-
    cuting [SET&REBOOT] button.
    6. Click the [Go to Main Menu] button to go back to
    the main window.
    Note:Set the file system on the FTP server to the
    UNIX mode when using the FTP client function.
    ■User Setup
    1. Open the User Setup window.
    2. User Registration
    •Enter the user name in up to 16 characters.
    The default setting is admin. Only one admin-
    istrator is necessary.
    •Enter the password. The default setting is a
    blank.
    •Enter a password again.
    •Select an access level, and click the [SET]
    button.
    1 (Administrator):Allows you to operate
    setup menus and to view live and record-
    ed images.
    2 (Camera Control):Allows you to control
    camera functions and to view live and
    recorded images.
    3 (Live Only):Allows you to view live and
    recorded images.
    3. User Authentication
    •Select ON or OFF, and click the [SET] button.
    ON:applies the user authentication.
    OFF:does not apply.
    •Click the [DEL] button after selecting an
    unwanted user name to cancel it.
    Note:The registered defaults admin and level
    1 cannot be changed while password
    entry is enabled.
    4. Delete User
    •Click the [DEL] button after selecting the user
    name to be deleted if necessary.
    Note:The registered defaults admin and level
    1 cannot be changed while password
    entry is enabled.
    Be sure to first set the admin password.
    No default password is registered.
    •All users will become level 3 if both the host
    and the user authentications are set to OFF.

    ■Host Setup
    1. Click the [Host] button.
    2. Host Authentication
    •Select [ON] or [OFF], and click the [SET] but-
    ton.
    ON: Applies the host authentication.
    OFF:Does not apply.
    3. Host Registration
    •Enter the IP address of the PC.
    A hostname.domainname can be entered
    when using the DNS function.
    •Select an access level, and click the [SET]
    button. The default setting is level 1.
    1 (Administrator):Allows you to operate
    setup menus and to view live and record-
    ed images.
    2 (Camera Control):Allows you to control
    camera functions and to view live and
    recorded images.
    3 (Live Only):Allows you to view live and
    recorded images.
    4. Delete Host
    •Click [DEL] button after selecting an unwanted
    host name to delete it.
    •Click the [Go to Main Menu] button to go back
    to the main window.
    Notes:
    •Host host authentication is carried out first, fol-
    lowed by user authentication if both are set to
    ON.
    •All users will become level 3 if both the host
    and the user authentications are set to OFF.
    •An unregistered host will be unable to access
    the camera.
    •Never turn around the order: start with the host
    registration, and then proceed to authentica-
    tion ON/OFF.
    ■System Setup 
    1. Click the [System] button.
    2. Time Adjustment
    Click the [MANUAL] or [NTP] radio button and the
    [SET] button.
    MANUAL:No time adjustment, go to item 3 (Time
    setup).
    NTP (Network Time Protocol):Time adjustment is
    made with your network system.
    Note:The date should be set to a year before 2036
    when using NTP.
    The next setting window opens.
    1. NTP Server Address
    Enter IP address or NTP server name (host
    name. domain name) within 128 characters
    when using a DNS server. No default name is
    registered.
    2. NTP Port Number
    Enter the NTP port number. The default is 123.
    Retain the default under normal conditions.
    3. Synchronization Interval: 
    Enter an Interval time (hours) between 1 and
    23.
    The default is 1(hour). 
    						
    							-50- 4. Time zone
    Enter the time difference between your site
    and GMT.
    Settings from 0:00 to 13:00 are valid.
    Select +/– by pressing the [o] button, and
    click the [SET] button.
    3. Time Setup
    For Manual setting use only:
    Enter the month, date, year, hour, minute and sec-
    ond, and click the [SET] button.
    4. Time Display
    Select Time Display ON/OFF by pressing the [o]
    button.
    ON:Enables the time display on the HTML window.
    ON (L-UP):Positioned at upper left.
    ON (L-LOW):Positioned at lower left.
    ON (R-UP):Positioned at upper right.
    ON (R-LOW): Positioned at lower right.
    OFF:No time display
    5. Time Format
    Select the Time format by pressing the [o] button,
    and click the [SET] button.
    3 time format are available:
    MM/DD/YYYY, DD/MM/YYYY or YYYY/MM/DD
    MM: month, DD: date, YYYY: year
    6. Daylight Saving Time
    Click ON or OFF and the [SET] button if necessary.
    ON:The time indication is advanced one hour.
    OFF:No daylight saving time, or to go back to reg-
    ular time.
    7. Camera Title
    Enter any Camera Title (up to 32 characters), and
    click the [SET] button.
    ■Multiscreen Setup
    1. Click the [Multi Screen] button.
    2. Enter IP addresses (you may enter  here if DNS is turned on.) and cam-
    era titles (up to 32 characters) into the respective
    lines.
    Group A and Group B are available.
    You can assign up to 4 cameras to each group.
    Camera 1 is assigned automatically.
    3. Click the [SET] button.

    ■Auto Pan Setting
    Click the [Camera] button in the Setup menu, and then
    click the [Auto Pan] button.
    START POINT:
    1. Take the viewpoint as START POINT by press-
    ing the joystick oval button, and adjust ZOOM,
    FOCUS and IRIS by pressing the respective
    function buttons.
    2. Click the [START POINT] button to assign the
    starting position.
    END POINT:
    1. Take the viewpoint as END POINT by pressing
    the joystick oval button, and adjust 
    ZOOM, FOCUS and IRIS by pressing the
    respective function buttons.
    2. Click the [END POINT] button to assign the
    starting position.
    AUTO PAN:[ON/OFF] button for confirmation
    REVERSE:Set positions from end to start in
    reverse order.
    ■Preset Setup
    You can preset up to 16 viewpoint positions.
    1. Click the [Camera] button in the Setup menu, and
    then click the [Preset] button.
    2. Adjust the angle of view in the same manner as
    described for Camera Control.
    3. Click the [PROGRAM] button; this registers the
    viewpoint as a Preset.
    4. Repeat the above steps after selecting a program
    number if necessary.
    PROGRAM:1 to 16 selectable
    CALL:1 to 16 selectable
    Select a number and click the [CALL] button; this
    changes the viewpoint to the position correspon-
    ding to the number you selected.
