Hang up or enter the remote code for other options. ≥When turning on the answering system using a rotary or pulse service telephone, you cannot enter the remote code for other options. Skipping the greeting message After calling your unit, press ($)during the greeting message. ≥The unit skips the rest of the greeting message and you can start recording your message after the long beep. ANSWERING SYSTEM OFF(0)≥The unit hangs up and will not answer calls until turned on again.
72 Remote Operation with the Cordless Handset (Cordless\Handset) You can operate your answering system with the cordless handset. The announcements and recorded messages can only be heard with the cordless handset. Summary of remote operation ≥The unit will announce the remaining recording time after playback, if it is less than 5 minutes. ≥If the unit starts to ring during the remote operation, press to answer the call. The remote operation is ended. ≥If you hear “Memory full” after playback, erase some, or all, of the messages (p. 73). Voice menu If no commands are entered after you press (FLASH/CALL\WAIT/PLAYBACK), the unit will start the following voice menu. “Press 4 to play back new messages. Press 5 to play back all messages.” ≥You can enter direct commands even if the voice menu has started. Press (FLASH/CALL\WAIT/PLAYBACK). ≥The number of new messages is heard. ≥“Remote operation” is displayed on the cordless handset. Enter the desired direct commands (p. 73). ≥If you do not enter a command, the voice menu will start (see below). ≥After the voice menu, all message playback will start. To end remote operation, press (OFF). ≥The messages are saved. (OFF) (FLASH/CALL\WAIT/PLAYBACK)

Base unit The base unit can be mounted on a wall phone plate. 1 Pull down the handset hook until it locks, so the tab holds the handset. 2 Press the tabs in the direction of the arrows (1), then remove the wall mounting adaptor (2). 3 Connect the AC adaptor. 4 Connect the telephone line cord. Mount the base unit, then slide down. ≥Raise the antennas. Charger unit The charger can be wall mounted. Connect the AC adaptor. Install screws using the wall template (p. 74). Mount the charger (1). Slide it down (2), then slide down to the right (3) until it is secured. You can hang the cordless handset on your belt or pocket using the belt clip. To attach the belt clip To remove the belt clip Plugging an optional headset into the cordless handset allows a hands-free phone conversation. Please use only the Panasonic KX-TCA88 headset. Connecting the optional headset to the cordless handset Open the headset jack cover, and connect the optional headset to the headset jack as shown below. 76 Optional Headset When the optional headset is connected to the cordless handset, make sure to use the headset to talk with the caller. Useful Information If “Recharge battery” is displayed and/or “” flashes after a few telephone calls even if the battery was fully charged, replace the battery with a new Panasonic PQP510SVC (P-P510) battery. To order, call the accessories telephone number on page 2. 1 Carefullyinsert a flat metal object in the slot, and push forward to release the lock. Remove the cordless handset cover. 2 Replace the battery. Cordless handset display The battery needs to be charged. Place the cordless handset on the charger to charge the battery (p. 12). The cordless handset has lost communication with the base unit. Move closer to the base unit and try again. When trying to store an item or Caller List information in the directory, the directory memory is full (p. 41, 45). To erase other stored items from the directory, see page 51. While the base unit was being used, (›)or (‹) was pressed to search the Caller List/directory list, (fl)was pressed to select an option, or (CLEAR/INTERCOM/HOLD)or (FLASH/CALL–WAIT/PLAYBACK)was pressed. While storing items in the directory, the cordless handset has lost communication with the base unit. Move closer to the base unit and try again.
