221 Care and Maintenance To clear media jams in location A: 1Open the left side door corresponding to the selected media tray and remove the jammed media. 2Close the left side door. OR 1Remove the media tray. 2Remove the jammed media from inside the printer. 3Reinsert the media tray. 4Open and close the printer’s front door to clear the error message from the printer LCD panel.

222 Care and Maintenance To clear media jams in location A with 2nd cassette feeder: 1Open the lower left side door. 2Remove the jammed media. 3Close the lower left side door. OR 1Remove the selected media tray (middle or lower media tray).

223 Care and Maintenance 2Remove the jammed media from inside the printer. 3Reinsert the media tray. 4Open and close the printer’s front door to clear the error message from the printer LCD panel. To clear media jams in location B with multi-purpose tray: 1Remove the jammed media from the multi-purpose tray. 2Open and close the printer’s front door to clear the error message from the printer LCD panel. NOTE: •A few sheets of paper printed after cleaning media jam may be dirty.

224 Care and Maintenance To clear media jams in location B with media tray: 1Open the left side door. 2Use the green handles to pull out the paper feeder. 3Remove the jammed media on or under the paper feeder. 4Reinsert the paper feeder and close the left side door.

SAFETY CAUTION: •The fuser is hot; to avoid personal injury, turn off the printer and wait 10 minutes (after opening the printer’s front door) for the fuser to cool before touching it. 2Check whether the media is jammed under the color imaging unit. • If the media is jammed, remove it by following the steps 1 to 4 in “To clear media jams in location B with media tray” on page 224 and then go to the next...

226 Care and Maintenance 4 a) Holding the green tab on the right, slide the fuser out until it stops. b) Press the green lever on the left to release the safety catch. 5 a) Hold the fuser as shown below, and slide it out of the printer. b) Close the printer’s front door. NOTE: • If the paper is not jammed in the fuser unit, perform the following. NOTE: • If the oiled cloth is loose, rotate the gear (A) clockwise until it is tight. Do not touch the oiled cloth.
