81 Using the Printer $Paper Source Selects media by choosing the location (trays) or the type of media. BAuto [Plain Paper]: Prints on paper loaded in a paper tray. The printer picks paper from the paper tray that is loaded with the media size you selected in the application software. When the tray is empty, the printer automatically picks from another paper tray of the same media size in the order of Upper, Middleand Lower. BAuto [Transparency]: Prints on transparency loaded in a transparency tray. The printer picks transparency from the transparency tray that is loaded with the media size you selected in the application software. When the tray is empty, the printer automatically picks from another transparency tray of the same media size in the order of Upper, Middleand Lower. BUpper : Prints on media loaded in the standard tray. BMiddle S1: Prints on media loaded in the upper tray (optional feeder). BLower S1: Prints on media loaded in the lower tray (optional feeder). BMPT Plain Paper, MPT Transparency, MPT Label, MPT Coated Paper, MPT Envelope, MPT Paper 2nd Side : Prints on paper, transparency or label, etc. loaded in the Multi-purpose tray. The printer will print on the selected media with optimal quality. S1If the optional feeder has not been installed, the printer selects the standard tray automatically. %Copy Count Determines how many copies of the document will be printed. Note: BThe number of copies can also be determined using the application software. 82 Using the Printer Two categories (Paper/Output and Document Options) for document settings are available. To display the items of a category, click on that category. n Paper/Output As for the features of each items (Paper Size, Orientation, Paper Source, Copy Count), refer toPage Setup Tab( +P. 80). 83 n Document Options #Print Style Click on Print Styleto display its selections in the lower box, and select a type which is the closest to your document to ensure optimal print quality. BBlack Text: Prints the document in black and white. Select this for black and white text. This is the fastest printing option. BGray Scale: Prints the document in black and white. Select this for monochrome halftone images. BColor Graphics: (default) Prints the document in color. Select this for computer graphics, color text or spreadsheets with color graphics. (Small text can be printed more clearly than when printed in Presentation.) BColor Photo: Prints the document in color. Select this for photo images such as a photo from a CD. BPresentation: Prints the document in color. Select this for presentation printing. (Presentation provides a clearer tone than Color Graphics.) Using the Printer # $ % & ( ) *
84 Using the Printer $Print Quality Click on Print Qualityto display its selections in the lower box, and select a print quality. Fast(300 dpi), Standard(600 dpi) or High quality (1200 dpi) can be selected. A higher resolution provides better print quality. However, the throughput speed is diminished. When Presentationis selected in the Print style, print quality cannot be selected and 300 dpi is automatically assigned. %Dithering Mode Color Graphicsand Color Photoare print styles that simulate shades of color by changing the dot patterns. You can select a dot pattern using Default S1, Dither A, or Dither B. This selection is effective only when Color Graphics orColor Photois selected. S1Most appropriate Dithering mode may be automatically selected according to the print style, print quality and printer memory you have selected. Notes: BWhen Color Graphicsis selected in the Print Style, Dithering mode is available for all print quality selections. BWhen Color Photois selected in the Print Style, Dithering mode is available only for 600 dpi and 1200 dpi print quality selections. BIf the error message “Memory Overflow” appears when Default or Dither B is selected, change the selection to Dither A. With Dither A selected, memory overflow may not occur.
85 Using the Printer &Output Order Specifies whether the document exits face up or face down into the output tray. This selection is not effective when the multi-purpose tray (MPT Plain Paper, MPT Transparency, etc.) is selected in the Paper Source ( +P. 81). When the multi-purpose tray is selected, Face upis selected automatically. Hyper-Tetra Adjustment... Adjusts the brightness, contrast, hue, saturation, or red, green, blue, or cyan, magenta, yellow, black of the image. For the adjustment, refer to Using the Hyper-Tetra Adjustment( +P. 97). This function is effective only when the Color Graphics, Color Photo or Presentation print style is selected. (Gray Scale Density Adjustment... Adjusts the density of the gray scale image. This function is effective only when the Gray Scale print style ( +P. 83 Advanced Tab) is selected. For the adjustment, refer to Using the Density Adjustment( +P. 102). )Print as a Mirror image Clicking on Print as a Mirror imageallows you to print a mirror image of the document. *Metafile Spooling Specifies the format in which the printing information is stored on your disk for printing. Generally, metafile spooling set to Enabledfrees up your program faster than Disabled.

Otherwise the printer and server performance may be diminished. BWhen printing through the SCSI port, the access speed between other connected SCSI devices get slower. BTo connect the KX-P8410 to your SCSI port, a SCSI driver and ASPI Manager need to be installed. Refer to your SCSI board manual. 1 Click New Monitor... . The Installing Print Monitorwindow appears.2
90 Using the Printer Insert the KX-P8410 CD-ROMinto the CD-ROM drive. Click Browse.... Click Cancel . The Locate Filewindow is displayed. Note: BThe SCSI port cannot be installed through theMonitor.inffile when copied to a directory with long file name. Select CD-ROM drive. Open Winnt40, Disk2, then select Monitor.inffile. Click Open.
