This section contains information on printer panel, printer driver and printing a document. This section contains information on cleaning the printer, replacing supplies, clearing jams, troubleshooting, error messages, repacking and specifications of the printer, media to be used and interface. This section contains the information to configure the printer in the network. Settings and Printing (Print.pdf) Maintenance and Specifications (Mainte.pdf) Network (Network.pdf) Laser Printer Operating Instructions Model No. KX-P7105 / KX-P7110 KX-P7110 comes standard with the network device. The Operating Instructions consist of the following 3 files. • Print.pdf • Mainte.pdf • Network.pdf These files can be opened by clicking on their names below. The printer’s features are described on the following pages of this file. Please carefully read the Operating Instructions before operating. Keep the printer CD-ROM in a safe place for future reference. Do not expose the CD-ROM to direct sunlight or extreme heat and do not scratch or smudge the surface of the CD-ROM. Features Congratulations on your purchase of the KX-P7105 or KX-P7110. We are sure it will meet your printing needs and give you many years of productive and efficient use. Printing in PCL and PostScript [with the optional Upgrade Kit (for PostScript) installed] In addition to printing in PCL or PostScript for Microsoft® Windows® operating system, provides printing for PostScript for Macintosh. PageStyler II is the emulation of PostScript. Paper handling n Media tray (universal cassette): Enables to load 75 g/m 2 (20 lbs.) paper up to 250 sheets. Transparency or envelope can be also loaded. n Manual feed: Enables to load a media (paper, transparency, label or envelope) one by one. Automatic Duplex Printing [see “Duplex Printing” on page 68 (Windows) or page 119 (Macintosh) in “Settings and Printing] Automatically prints your document on both sides of the paper. Watermark Printing (see “Watermark Printing” on page 70 in “Settings and Printing”) Overlaps a watermark (CONFIDENTIAL, DRAFT, etc.) over any document. Overlay Printing (see “Overlay Printing” on page 71 in “Settings and Printing”) Overlaps an overlay data (image or characters) over any document. 2 Up / 4 Up (see “Setting the Printer Driver” on page 38 (Windows) or page 106 (Macintosh) in “Settings and Printing”) Prints 2 or 4 pages on a single sheet of paper to save paper. Features Remote Control Panel (see “Remote Control Panel” on page 23 in “Settings and Printing”) Enables to change the printer’s setting when using an application software running in Microsoft® MS-DOS® operating system. Animated Help Feature [see “Status Display” on page 75 (Windows) in “Settings and Printing”] The Printer Status alerts the user of common operational errors. Click the H button for animated help. This feature will walk you through the steps required to get your printer running once again. Bi-directional Parallel Interface or USB Interface (see “Parallel (IEEE1284) Interface” on page 57 or “USB (Universal Serial Bus) Interface” on page 59 in “Maintenance and Specifications”) Enables communication between the computer and the printer using the parallel interface or USB. Networking (KX-P7110 only) (see “Network” section) Enables to print a data through the network. (Insert a media one by one.)· Media for ink jet (paper, transparency, etc.) or transparency for color laser printer; it may be wrapped around the fuser roller and cause damage.· Any toner other than genuine Panasonic toner; it may damage the printer. · Unstable or unlevel surfaces.· Directly in front of air conditioning vents.· Liquids near the equipment. · Areas of poor ventilation. · Areas of high dust or chemical fume concentration. (solvent etc.) · Direct exposure to sunlight. · Extremely high or low temperature [temperature range: 10°C to 32.5°C (50°F to 90.5°F)] · Extremely high or low humidity. Cautions Macintosh WindowsParts Parts 3 n Static Electricity Damage To prevent static electricity damage to any of the following components, touch a grounded metal surface, such as the printer’s bare metal frame prior to touching the component. • Interface connectors : parallel, USB, connector for 2nd feeder and network (KX-P7110 only) • Electrical components, connectors inside the printer n Interface Cable Always use a shielded interface cable. Use of an unshielded cable can result in radio interference with data. n Power Source Do not use a line conditioner, transient suppressor or surge protector as it may cause a machine error. n Ventilation Space The ventilation space is needed more than 20 mm (0.8 ² ) between the printer and a wall. Printer Panel Indicators READY ERROR TONER/ DRUM UNIT PRINT / RESET PRINT / RESET button Indicators Printer Status Printer is warming up (three indicators light one after another). Printer is ready for printing or in the sleep mode. Internal Error occurs. - - ->Turn the printer off and back on again. If the problem persists, call for service on your printer. Printer is receiving data printing or data remains in the memory. Printer recoverable errors (media jam, media empty, etc.) occurred. See “Maintenance and Specifications” for the troubleshooting. Drum unit is not installed in the printer. Drum unit is wearing out. Change the drum unit. Toner is low.Toner may be empty. Life cycle of the drum unit has expired. READY ERRORTONER/ DRUM UNIT Q1 Q1 Q1 : Indicator is lit. : Indicator is turned off. Q1 The status is varied depending on the condition. : Indicator is blinking. PRINT / RESET Button Printer Status To recover from the error status (overrun or memory overflow), press the PRINT / RESET button less than 5 seconds. READY ERRORTONER/ DRUM UNIT : Indicator is lit. : Indicator is blinking. : Indicator is turned off. To print the configuration page, press the PRINT / RESET button less than 5 seconds. To print the demo page, press the PRINT / RESET button more than 5 seconds until the ERROR indicator blinks fast, then release it. The ERROR indicator is turned off and the demo page will be printed. To print the remaining data, press the PRINT / RESET button less than 5 seconds. To clear the remaining data, press the PRINT / RESET button more than 5 seconds until the READY and ERROR indicator blinks fast, then release it.
