Stabilizer, Zoom and Flash Taking Pictures with Wireless Flashes By using flashes that support wireless recording (DMW-FL360L/DMW-FL580L: optional), you can separately c ontrol the firing of three flash groups and the flash attached to the hot shoe of the camera. • Although the flash (supplied) cannot be used as a wireless flas h, if you attach it to the hot shoe of the camera, you can control t he firing of wireless flashes. Applicable modes: ∫ Placing wireless flashes Place the wireless flash with it s wireless sensor facing toward the camera. The following figure shows the estimated controllable range whe n you take pictures by holding the camera horizontally. Controllable range differs depending on the surrounding environment. [MANUAL]: Set the luminosity ratio of the external flash manually. [OFF]: The flash on the camera side emits only communication light. [Flash Adjust.] Set the output of the external flash manually when [Firing Mode ] is set to [TTL]. [Manual Flash Adjust.] Set the luminosity ratio of the external flash when [Firing Mode] is set to [MANUAL]. •You can set from [1/1] (full brightness) to [1/64] in steps of 1/3. Recording Motion Pictures Recording Motion Picture Applicable modes: This camera can record full high definition motion pictures com patible with the AVCHD format or motion pictures recorded in MP4. Audio will be recorded in stereo. The functions available when recording motion pictures differ a ccording to the lens you are using, and the operational sound of the lens may be recorded. Refer to the website for compatible lenses. 1Start recording by pressing the motion picture button. Wait until the camera cools down. –Continuous recording, motion picture recording, and the Wi-Fi c onnection will be temporarily disabled. –If you continue recording even when [ ] is flashing on the scree n, a message will be displayed and the camera will turn off automatically. •The operational sound of the zoom or button operation may be re corded when it is operated during the recording of a motion picture. •The available recording time displayed on the screen may not decrease regularly. •Depending on the type of the card, the card access indication m ay appear for a while after recording motion pictures. This is not a malfunction. •The [Sensitivity] will be set to [AUTO] (for motion pictures) w hen recording motion pictures. Also, the [ISO Limit Set] will not operate. •When recording a motion picture, [Stabilizer] will be fixed to [ ] even if it is set to [ ].•It is recommended to use a fully charged battery or AC adaptor (optional) when recording motion pictures. (P325) •If while recording motion pictur es using the AC adaptor (optional) the power supply is cut off due to a power cut or if the AC adaptor (optional) is disconnec ted etc., the motion picture will not be recorded. •It will be recorded in the following categories for certain Rec ording Modes. 9. Recording Motion Pictures 218 When [MP4] is selected • What is bit rate This is the volume of data for a definite period of time, and the quality becomes higher when the number gets bigger. This unit is using the “VBR” recording meth od. “VBR” is an abbreviation for “Variable Bit Rate”, and the bit rate (volume of data for defin ite period of time) is changed automatically depending on the subject to record. Therefore, th e recording time is shortened when a subject with fast movement is recorded. ∫ About the compatibility of the recorded motion pictures Even when a compatible device is used, recorded motion pictures may be played back with reduced picture and sound quality, or they may not be played back. Also, recording information may not be displayed correctly. Use this unit to playback in such case. • If you want to use another device to play back motion pictures recorded in [FHD/28M/60p], [FHD/24M/30p], [FHD/24M/24p] of [AVCHD] or if you want to trans fer them to the device, a PC installed with “ PHOTOfunSTUDIO ” or a compatible Blu-ray disc recorder is required. Recording Motion Pictures Applicable modes: Focusing changes depending on the Focus Mode setting (P139) and the [Continuous AF] setting in the [Motion Picture] menu. • When the focus mode is set to [AFS], [AFF] or [AFC], if you pre ss the shutter button halfway while recording a motion picture, the camera will re-adjust the focus. •Depending on the recording conditions or lens used, operational sound may be recorded when the Auto Focus is operated while recording a motion picture. It is recommended to record with [Continuous AF] in the [Motion Picture] menu set to [OFF], if the sound of operation bothers you to avoid recording the lens noise. •When operating the zoom when recording motion pictures, it may take time to come into focus.•[Continuous AF] does not work while [Pull Focus] in [Snap Movie] is in operation. How to set focus when recording a motion picture ([Continuous A F]) Focus mode[Continuous AF]Description of settings [AFS]/[AFF]/ [AFC][ON] The camera automatically keeps focusing on subjects during recording. (Simultaneous recording) ∫ Setting motion picture and still picture priorities Applicable modes: Recording method for the still pictures taken while recording a motion picture can be set with [Picture Mode] in the [Motion Picture] menu. • The picture aspect ratio will be fixed to [16:9]. Not available in these cases: • This function is not available in the following cases:–When [Rec Format] is set to [VGA/4M/30p] in [MP4] –When the [FHD/24M/24p] is set [only when [ ] (still picture prio rities) is set]–When using [Ex. Tele Conv.] in the [Motion Picture] menu [only when [ ] (still picture priorities) is set] –When [Snap Movie] is set to [ON] During motion picture recording, press the shutter button fully to record a still picture. •Simultaneous recording indicator is displayed while recording still pictures. •Recording with the Touch Shutter function (P55) is also available. [] (Motion picture priorities) •Pictures will be recorded with a picture size of [S] (2 M). The picture quality may be different to [S] (2 M) of standard p ictures. •Only JPEG images are recorded when [Quality] is set to [ ], [ ] o r []. (When set to [ ], still pictures will be recorded in [Quality] o f [A ].) •Up to 15 still pictures can be recorded during recording of the motion picture.•In [Miniature Effect] of Creative Control Mode, there may be a slight delay between fully pressing the shutter button and recording.
