46 s Basic Playback 1Press the K button. A photograph will be displayed in the monitor. The memory card containing the picture currently displayed is shown by an icon. 2View additional pictures. Additional pictures can be displayed by pressing 4 or 2. To view additional information on the current photograph, press 1 and 3 (0 165). To end playback and return to shooting mode, press the shutter-release button halfway. AImage Review When On is selected for Image review in the playback menu ( 0200), photographs are automatically displayed in the monitor for about 4 s after shooting. 47 s Deleting Unwanted Photographs To delete the photograph currently displayed in the monitor, press the O button. Note that photographs can not be recovered once deleted . 1Display the photograph. Display the photograph you wish to delete as described on the preceding page. 2Delete the photograph. Press the O button. A confirmation dialog will be displayed with an icon at bottom left showing the location of the current picture; press the O button again to delete the image and return to playback (to exit without deleting the picture, press K). ADelete To delete selected images ( 0176), all images taken on a selected date ( 0177), or all images in a chosen location on a selected memory card ( 0176), use the Delete option in the playback menu. 49 x x Live View Follow the steps below to take photographs in live view. 1Rotate the live view switch. The mirror will be raised and the view through the lens will be displayed in the camera monitor. The subject will no longer be visible in the viewfinder. The display varies with the option selected for AF-area mode ( 050). 51 i Time remaining (movie mode) The recording time remaining in movie mode. 58 o Movie quality The frame size and quality of movies recorded in movie mode. 60 ! 0Monitor brightness Displayed while the L button is pressed; keep the button pressed and press 1 or 3 to adjust brightness (this applies to the monitor only; exposure is not affected). — Live view switch

To choose an autofocus mode, rotate the focus- mode selector to AF, and then press the AF-mode button and rotate the main command dial until the desired mode is displayed in the monitor. To use manual focus, rotate the focus-mode selec tor to M and proceed to Step 6 after focusing as described on page 55. 3Choose an AF-area mode. To choose an AF-area mode, press the AF-mode button and rotate the sub-command dial until the desired mode is displayed in the monitor. ModeDescription AF-S Single-servo AF : For stationary subjects. A tripod is recommended. & Subject-tracking AF : Track a selected subject as it moves through the frame.
