191 Q Viewing Photographs on TV The supplied EG-D2 audio video (A/V ) cable can be used to connect the camera to a television or video recorder for playback or recording. A type C mini-pin High- D efinition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) cable (available separately from third-party suppliers) can be used to connect the camera to high-definition video devices. Standard Definition Devices Before connecting the camera to a standa rd television, confirm that the camera video standard ( 0237) matches that used in the TV. 1Tu rn t he came ra o ff. Always turn the camera off before conn ecting or disconnecting the A/V cable. 2Connect the A/V cable as shown. 3Tune the television to the video channel. 4Turn the camera on and press the K button. During playback, image will be displaye d both in the camera monitor and on the television screen. Note that the edges of images may not be displayed. 192 Q AVideo Mode If no image is displayed, check that camera is correctly connected and that the option selected for Video mode (0 237) matches the video standard used in the TV. ATelevision Playback Use of an EH-5a AC adapter and EP-5B power connector (available separately) is recommended for extended playback. ASlide Shows The Slide show option in the playback menu can be used for automated playback ( 0201). AAudio When a movie with sound recorded in stereo using an external microphone is viewed on a television connected to the camera via an A/V cable, the audio output is monaural. HDMI connections support stereo output. Volume can be adjusted using television controls; the camera controls can not be used. DClose the Connector Cover Close the camera connector cover when the connectors are not in use. Foreign matter in the connectors can interfere with data transfer.

194 Q ❚❚HDMI Options The HDMI option in the setup menu controls ou tput resolution and can be used to enable the camera for remote control from devices that support HDMI-CEC ( High- D efinition Multimedia Interface– Consumer Electronics Control, a standard that allows HDMI devices to be used to control peripherals to which they are connected). Output Resolution Choose the format for images output to the HDMI device. If Auto is selected, the camera will automatically select the appropriate format. Device Control If On is selected for HDMI>Device control in the setup menu when the camera is connected to a television that supports HDMI-CEC and both the camera and television are on, the display shown at right will appear on the television and the television re mote can be used in place of the camera multi selector and J button during full- frame playback and slide shows. If Off is selected, the television remote can not be used to control the camera. AHDMI-CEC Devices When the camera is connected to an HDMI-CEC device, ) will appear in the control panel in place of the number of exposures remaining. 196 U H ide or reveal pic tures. Hidden pictures are visible only in the Hide image menu and can only be deleted by fo rmatting the memory card. Follow the steps below to hide or reveal selected pictures. 1Choose Select/set . Highlight Select/set and press 2. 2Select pictures. Use the multi selector to scroll through the pictures on the memory card (to view the highlighted picture full screen, press and hold the X button; to view images in other locations as described on page 164, hold D and press 1) and press W to select the current picture. Selected pictures are marked by a R icon; to deselect a picture, highlight it and press W again. Continue until all the desired pictures have been selected. 3Press J. Press J to complete the operation. Hide ImageG button ➜Dplayback menu OptionDescription Select/set Hide or reveal selected pictures. Select date Selecting this option displays a list of dates. To hide all pictures taken on a date, highlight the date and press 2. Selected dates are marked by a L; to reveal all pictures taken on a selected date, highlight it and press 2. Press J to complete the operation. Deselect all? Reveal all pictures. DProtected and Hidden Images Revealing a protected image will also remove protection from the image. W button
197 U Choose the information available in the playback photo information display ( 0165). Press 1 or 3 to highlight an option, then press 2 to select the option for the photo information display. A L appears next to selected items; to deselect, highlight and press 2. To return to the playback menu, highlight Done and press J. Copy images between memory cards. This option is only available when two memory cards are inserted in the camera. To c o p y i m a g e s : 1Choose Select source . Highlight Select source and press 2. 2Select the source card. Highlight the slot containing the card from which images will be copied and press J. 3Choose Select image(s) . Highlight Select image(s) and press 2. 198 U 4Select the source folder. Highlight the folder containing the images to be copied and press 2. 5Make the initial selection. Before going on select or deselect individual images, you can mark all or all protected images in the folder fo r copying by choosing Select all images or Select protected images . To mark only individually selected images for copying, choose Deselect all before proceeding. 6Select additional images. Highlight pictures and press W to select or deselect (to view the highlighted picture full screen, press and hold the X button). Selected images are marked with a L. Press J to proceed to Step 7 when your selection is complete. 7Choose Select destination folder . Highlight Select destination folder and press 2. W button
199 U 8Select a destination folder. To enter a folder number, choose Select folder by number , enter the number ( 0 203), and press J. If the folder with the selected number does not already exist, a new folder will be created. To choose from a list of existing folders, choose Select folder from list , highlight a folder, and press J. 9Copy the images. Highlight Copy image(s)? and press J. A confirmation dialog will be displayed; highlight Ye s and press J. Press J again to exit when copying is complete. DCopying Images Images will not be copied if there is in sufficient space on the destination card. Be sure the battery is fully charged before copying movies. If the destination folder contains an image with the same name as one of the images to be copied, a confirmation dialog will be displayed. Select Replace existing image to replace the image with the image to be copied, or select Replace all to replace all existing images with the same names without further prompting. To continue without replacing the image, select Skip, or select Cancel to exit without copying any further images. Protect status is copied with the images but print marking ( 0189) is not. Hidden images can not be copied.
200 U Choose whether pictures are automatically displayed in the monitor immediately after shooting. If Off is selected, pictures can only be displayed by pressing the K button. Choose the picture displayed after an image is deleted. Choose whether to rotate “tall” (portrait-orientation) pictures for display during playback. Note that because the camera itself is already in the appropriate orientation during shooting, images are not rotated automatically during image review. Rotate TallG button ➜Dplayback menu OptionDescription On “Tall” (portrait-orientation) pictures are automatically rotated for display in the camera monitor. Pictures taken with Off selected for Auto image rotation (0 239) will be displayed in “wide” (landscape) orientation. Off “Tall” (portrait-orientation) pictures are displayed in “wide” (landscape) orientation.
