Ext Intel RAID Opton ROM, and then reboot to Wndows system.
When prompted to rebuld the RAID volume, clck ‘Yes’.
The  Intel(R)  Storage  Utlty  wll  be  launched.  Rght-clck  the  new  hard  drve  and 
select ‘Rebuld to ths Dsk’. The ‘Rebuld Wzard’ wll be launched whch wll gude 
you through the process of rebuldng to the new hard drve.5.

RAID Configuraton
Durng  bootup,  a  screen  smlar  to  the  one  below  wll  appear  for  about  few  seconds. 
Press + to enter Marvell BIOS setup utlty.

Important
Be sure to enable the RAID functon for SATA devce n manboard BIOS before config-
urng the Marvell BIOS setup utlty.
The RAID setup utlty menu screen wll appear. The Man Menu shows as below.

Creatng Vrtual Dsks
Ths topc descrbes the procedure for creatng vrtual dsks by usng the Marvell BIOS 
setup utlty.
In the Topology pane, scroll to [HBA 0: Marvell 0] and press Enter. A menu pops-up 
as  shown  below.  Select  “Configuraton  Wzard”  and  press  Enter  to  begn  creatng 
the vrtual dsk.1.

Create  Vrtual  Dsk
RAID Level, select a RAID level (RAID 0, RAID 1).
Max Sze (MB),  s the sze of the RAID vrtual dsk as determned by the selected 
RAID level. It s property of the vrtual dsk that cannot be edted.
Strpe  Sze,  specfies  the  sze  (32K,  64K)  of  sngle  data  block  on  the  vrtual  dsk. 
The  larger  the  strpe  sze,  the  longer  t  takes  for  the  controller  to  read  from  and 
wrte to data blocks on the physcal dsks. In general, a larger strpe sze  s recom
-
mended for most applcatons. The default sze s 64K. 
Ggabyte  Roundng,  define  the  flexblty  n  sze  for  a  replacement  physcal  dsk 
that  s used to rebuld a degraded vrtual dsk. It  s applcable to RAID 1 level only. 
Although the selecton remans avalable for RAID 0,  t only affects the sze of the 
RAID 0 vrtual dsk (because RAID 0 does not offer redundancy).
Quck Int, enable or dsable quck  ntalzaton of the vrtual dsk. The default set
-
tng for [Quck Int] s “Yes”.
VD Name, type a new vrtual dsk name.
Dsk ID, lsts the IDs of the physcal dsks comprsng the vrtual dsk. It  s property 
of the vrtual dsk that cannot be edted.

After configure all settngs for the vrtual dsk, scroll to the [Next] and press Enter to 
contnue.  And  the  screen  shows  as  below,  press  Y  to  confirm  the  creaton  for  the

Deletng Vrtual Dsk
Ths  topc  descrbes  the  procedure  to  delete  a  vrtual  dsk  by  usng  the  Marvell  BIOS 
setup utlty.
Important
Usng “Delete” permanently erases all data on the vrtual dsk.
In the [Topology] pane, select “Vrtual Dsk” (VD 0: MRAID1, shown as below) and press Enter.
Select “Delete” to delete the vrtual dsk, shown as below.
Press  Y  to  confirm  the  request  when  prompted Do  you  want  to  delete  ths  vrtual dsk?.
Press  Y  to  confirm  the  request  when  prompted Do  you  want  to  delete  MBR  from ths vrtual dsk?.

Rebuldng Vrtual Dsk
Ths topc descrbes the procedure to manually rebuld a degraded vrtual dsk by usng 
the Marvell BIOS setup utlty. Ths s applcable to the RAID 1 vrtual dsk.
Important
The rebuld process s both ntated and completed  n the Marvell BIOS setup. The Mar-
vell RAID Utlty (MRU), whch runs  n as OS envronment, cannot be used to ether  nt-
ate, resume, or complete the rebuld process Spare physcal dsks are not supported.
When a vrtual dsk  s degraded, the “Status” of a vrtual dsk  s changed from Func-tonal to Degrade.
Replace  the  faulty  physcal  dsk  wth  an  dentcal  physcal  dsk.  (Note:  If  an dent
-
cal  dsk  s  unavalable,  use  a  replacement  physcal  dsk  of  larger  sze  or  one  wth 
a  slghtly  smaller  sze  as  determned  the  Ggabyte  Roundng  settng  for  the  vrtual 
dsk.)  The  BIOS  detects  the  new  physcal  dsk  and  lsts  the  devce  under  “Free 
Physcal Dsks” n the [Topology] pane.
In  the  [Topology]  pane,  scroll  to  “Vrtual  Dsk”  (VD  0:  XXXX),  and  press  Enter  to 
select.  A  menu  pops-up  as  shown  below.  Scroll  to  “Rebuld”  and  press  Enter  to 
configure the rebuld process.

Installng the RAID Drver (for bootable RAID Array) 
When prompted, nsert the medum dsk and press Enter.4.
Important
Please follow the nstructon below to make a SATA RAID drver for yourself.Insert the MSI DVD nto the DVD-ROM drve.Clck the “Browse CD” on the Setup screen.Copy all the contents  n the : \\Storage\Marvell 9128\SCSI mnport drver\Floppy32 or 
\\Storage\Marvell 9128\SCSI mnport drver\Floppy64 
The drver dsk for RAID controller s done.

For Wndows Vsta/ Wndows 7:           
Durng the Operatng system  nstallaton, after selectng the locaton to  nstall Vsta/ 
Wndows 7 clck on “Load Drver” button to load RAID drve.
You should be shown a lst of avalable RAID controller(s).
Select  the  compatble  RAID  controller  for  32-bt/  64-bt  verson  system  and  then 
press ENTER. 
The next screen should confirm that you have selected the RAID controller. Press 
ENTER agan to contnue. 
You  have  successfully  nstalled  the  RAID  drver,  and  Wndows  setup  should  con
-
tnue. 
Leave the medum untl the system reboots  tself. Wndows setup wll need to copy 
the files from the medum agan after the RAID volume  s formatted, and Wndows 
setup starts copyng files.

Note :  for  Wndows  Vsta/  Wndows  7,  you  can  copy  the  files  to  a  medum  (floppy/ CD/ DVD or USB) After you complete the RAID BIOS setup, boot from the Wndows CD, and the Wn
-dows Setup program starts.
Press F6 and wat for the Wndows Setup screen to appear.
Insert the floppy that contans the RAID drver, press the “S” key to select “Specfy 
Addtonal Devce”. 1.

Important
Only  when  you  set  the  “AHCI”  mode  n  Integrated  Perpherals  menu  (the  default  s 
IDE mode) of manboard BIOS setup, you have to  nstall the RAID Drver for the SATA 
devces.
