Configuration 3 - 69 •Tap Next to display the Performance Settings dialog box, and choose one of the performance options. •Tap Save. Launching an Existing Profile Your configured network profiles are listed in the Manage Profiles screen. • To activate a profile in the Manage Profiles screen, tap and hold the sty lus on the profile you want to launch. • In the drop-down menu, choose Connect. Resetting the Radio to Default Factory Settings Resetting your unit, including a clean start, will not return t he radio settings to the default values. To reset the radio to factory settings: • Tap on the Fusion icon in the taskbar to display the Fusion menu. • Choose Options. • In the drop-down menu, choose Data Management. Tap on the Reset Options button and Reset Data- store button, and tap on Save. Close the window. • Press and hold down the [FN/BLUE] and [Power] button to perform a warm reset. Monitoring the Network Connection To view the radio signal: • Tap on the Fusion icon in the taskbar, and choose Wireless Status from the menu. NOTEMoving in and out of the radio co verage area can have varying effects on a network session. At times, you may need to renew your connection connecting agai n.

4 - 2 Workabout Pro4 (Windows Embedded CE 6.0) User Manual Attaching the Hand Strap The hand strap can be attached to the back of the Workabout Pro 4 to provide a secure means for operators to carry the hand-held. The hand strap is attached to t he back of unit using two Phillips head screws provided with this accessory. • Use a Phillips screwdr iver to attach the strap to the two thre aded inserts on the ba ck of the Workabout Pro4, near the top of the unit. • Stretch the hand str ap toward the base of the Workabout Pro4, and hook the bottom of the strap into the slot near the base of the battery pack. A tethered stylus and optional external stylus tube can be attached to the hand strap as illustrated below Attaching the Pistol Grip There are a number of pistol grip s available to you depending on the type of scanner/imager installed in your hand-held. Refer to the table in Carrying Accessories on page 4-1 for a list of pistol grip model numbers and the scanners/imagers with w hich they are compatible. Tethered Stylus Stylus Tube
Peripheral Devices & Accessories 4 - 3 The pistol grip is attached to the four threaded inserts on the back of the Wor kabout Pro4. Fou r Phillips head screws are provided with this accessory. • Position the pistol grip so that it fits snugly over the back of the unit and the holes in the pistol grip are aligned with the threaded inserts on the back of the Workabout Pro4. • Tighten the screws to a torque o f 3 lbs-in (3 kgf-cm) to secure the pistol grip in place. • Insert the stylus in the base of the pistol grip. The Trigger Back Plate Kit with Flush Mount Pistol Grip The trigger back cove r kit, model number WA9 301, provides a special back cover that i ncorporates a scanner interface board and a switch; and triggers the SE1524ER long ra nge laser, model number WA9022. WA9301 is required for WA9022 to function ( with or without a pistol grip). This kit is also compatible with the Flush Mount Pistol Grip, model number WA6103. NOTE The few steps required to attach the pistol grip to the Workabo ut Pro4 are common to all types of pistol grips. However, if you plan to use the Flush Mount Pisto l Grip (WA6103), you’ll need to install a special trigger back plate before following these steps to at tach the pistol grip. Refer to The Trig- ger Back Plate Kit with Flush Mount Pistol Grip on page 4-3 . NOTEPrior to installation, make sure the trigger mechanism is secur ely snapped into the pistol grip body and that the trigger operates properly.
4 - 4 Workabout Pro4 (Windows Embedded CE 6.0) User Manual The trigger back cover kit, model number WA9302, provides a spe cial back cover that incorporates a scanner interface board and a switch. This kit enables a pistol grip to trigger the following e nd cap scanners for the Workabout Pro 4: The pistol grip is available sepa rately from this kit as model number WA6103. Before You Begin Installing the Back Plate If your unit is using AC power, disconnect it. • Remove the stylus from the end-cap. • Remove the battery pack. • Loosen the four screws securing the end-cap, and remove the end-cap. • Unlatch the two connectors on the interface boar d on the new back plate. Figure 4-1 • Position the lower end of the new back plate next to the back opening of the unit. Peripheral Devices & Accessories 4 - 5 • Insert the flex cable from the end-cap into J2 on the interface board. The contacts on the flex cable face towards the interface board. Figure 4-2 1. Latch the connector. 2. Flip the back plate upwards. 3. Insert the flex cable from the Workabout Pro4 main logic boar d into J1 on the interface board. The con- tacts on the flex cable face t owards the interface board. 4. Latch the connectors. 5. Cut the Kapton tape square pr ovided in two equal pieces. 6. Remove the Kapton tape from the release liner. Apply one piec e over the end of the flex cable and the imager’s flex connector. Apply t he other piece over the other end of the flex cable and the back plate flex connector, as shown in Figure 4-1. This secures the flex cable at both ends. 7. Turn the back plate over. Insert the battery, and insta ll the battery compartment cover . Installing the Flush Mount Pistol Grip The Flush Mount Pistol Grip, model WA6103, is intended for use with Workabout Pro4 units (7528 Long and 7528 Short) which have the Trigger Back Plate installed. Review the first few paragraphs at the beginning of The Trigger Back Plate Kit with Flush Mount Pistol Grip on page 4-3 for a list of compatible scanners/imagers. 1. If your unit is using AC power, disconnect it. 2. Remove the battery c over and battery pack. 3. Remove the screw-on cap, if present, from the switch in the m iddle of the back plate. Peripheral Devices & Accessories 4 - 7 4. Lower the Flush Mount Pistol Grip into place over the back plate, aligning the screw inserts on the hand-held with the screw holes in the pistol grip. 5. Insert and tighten the four screws provided with the pistol g rip. 6. Replace the battery and battery cover. 7. Insert the stylus in the bottom of the pisto l grip handle. Protective Carrying Case A carrying case is available for the Workabout Pro4 to shield t he unit from damage. It is equipped with a soft plastic window to protect the un it display and keyboard. A variety of cases are available, depending on the type of end-cap attached to your unit. Soft Shell Holster A soft shell holster with removabl e belt and swivel holster pad can be used to hang a Workabout Pro4 with a pistol grip fr om your waist
4 - 8 Workabout Pro4 (Windows Embedded CE 6.0) User Manual Figure 4-3Soft Shell Holster • Insert the belt in the swivel holster pad. • Attach the pad on either the le ft or right side of the holster case, depending on whether you are left- or right-handed. • Fasten the belt comfortably aro und your waist. Slide the adjustable ring on the belt to tighten the holster in place. • Connect the safety tether cord to one of the clips on the bottom of the soft shell holster. Connect the other end to the hole in the end of the Workabout Pro4 pistol grip. T his tether will catch the unit in case of a drop. The tether can be adju sted to the operator’s height. The clips will break away in case of a severe force. The Battery The Workabout Pro4 will operate with the following Lithium-Ion battery packs: • 4400 mAh battery pack (Model Number WA3010) • 2850 mAh battery pack (Model Number WA3025) • 4680 mAh battery pack (Model Number WA3026) Swivel Holster Pad and Removable Belt Soft Shell Holster NOTE Review Appendix E: Workabout Pro4 Specifications for details.
