144 44 Removing the optional envelope feeder You must remove the envelope feeder to access jams from the duplex unit or from tray 1. You would also remove the envelope feeder when you want to reinstall the multipurpose feeder. 1Remove any print media in the envelope feeder. 2Hold the envelope feeder on both sides, tilt it up slightly, and then pull it straight out. 145 Reinstalling the envelope feeder 1Hold the envelope feeder on both sides, and tilt the end going into the printer first down slightly, as you align the posts on the feeder with the holes above the opening in the printer. 2Gently insert the envelope feeder at this angle into the opening and then drop it into place. 146 45 Removing the optional duplex unit 1Turn the printer off. 2Disconnect the duplex cable from the back of the printer. 3Push up on the latch to release the duplex unit door (Door E). 4Gently lower the door. 147 5Grasp the end of the cable near the hook, and then release the hook from the eye. 6Fold the cable and push it into its recessed area for storage. 7Locate the two pieces functioning as a door hinge on the front side of the duplex unit. They are attached to a metal bar. 8Pull up and then pull back on the top metal piece to release it completely from the metal bar. 9Lower the door to its open position.
