When the engine is hot, the cooling fans may also COMMENCE operating after the engine is switched off and continue operating for up to 10 minutes. To avoid injury, keep clear of all fans and remove any loose clothing while working in the engine compartment. Engine Oil 149 E ngine OilCHECK & TOP-UP Check the oil level at least every 250 miles (400 km) when the engine is COLD and with the vehicle resting on level ground. NOTE: If it is necessary to check the oil level when the engine is hot, switch off the engine and let the vehicle stand for five minutes to allow the oil to drain back into the sump.
