Maintenance 3-6OPERATION GUIDE 6Thoroughly shake the toner container (in the direction of the arrows) ten times or more to loosen and mix the toner inside. 7Grasp the handle on the toner container and insert the toner container along the rail of the printer. When inserting, be sure that the gear side of the toner container faces the printer. Leave the front cover open to allow insertion of the waste toner box. Replacing the Waste Toner Box When replacing the toner container, the used waste toner box in the printer should also be replaced with the new one from the new toner kit. Maintenance 3-12OPERATION GUIDE 4Clean the separator by moving the cleaning brush from left to right along with the separator. NOTE: When removing jammed paper, be careful not to touch the printer drum. This can cause printer malfunction. 5While rotating the transfer roller with the gear on its left, move the cleaning brush back and forth along the transfer roller to remove soiling as shown. Troubleshooting 4-2OPERATION GUIDE General Guideline If some kind of problem should occur, check the following before concluding the printer is broken; SymptomCheck ItemsCorrective Action The printer will not print from the computer.Check the READY indicator.OffLook through the items below and check anything that seems appropriate. FlashingAn error has occurred. Check the message display, and then take measures referring to Indicators and Messages on page 4-7. LitRefer to the appropriate item below. Check the ATTENTION indicator. FlashingRefer to Indicators on page 4-7. Lit A maintenance message appears in the message display.Refer to Maintenance Messages on page 4-7. Print quality is not good. Clean the filters. Refer to Print Quality Problems on page 4-4. Paper is jammed.Refer to Correcting a Paper Jam on page 4-14. Nothing lights on the operation panel even when power is turned on and the fan makes no noise.Check that the power cord is properly plugged into the power outlet.Turn off the printer’s power, plug in the power cord securely, and try turning on the printer’s power again. Check that the main switch is really in the ON ( | ) position. The printer prints a status page, but data from the computer is not being printed normally.Check the interface cable.Connect both ends of the interface cable securely. Try replacing the printer cable. Check program files and application software.Try printing another file or using another print command.
