Troubleshooting 111 7 Error messages in the Status Monitor7 The Status Monitor will report problems with the printer. Take the necessary action by referring to the following table. If you want to turn the status monitor on, see Status Monitor on page 45 (For Windows ® user) or Status Monitor on page 60(For Macintosh users). The paper size you can use for automatic duplex printing is A4, Letter, Legal or Folio. Troubleshooting 112 7 No Paper No Paper for Manual Feed No Paper MP or Size Mismatch No Paper in Tray 1 or Size Mismatch No Paper in Tray 2 or Size Mismatch No Paper in Tray 3 or Size Mismatch„The paper tray may be out of paper or not properly installed. If it is empty, put a new stack of paper in the paper tray and then press Go. If the problem is still unsolved, the paper pick-up roller may be stained. Clean the paper pick-up roller. See Cleaning the paper pick-up roller on page 106. „If there is paper in the paper tray, make sure it is straight. If the paper is curled, straighten it before printing. Sometimes it is helpful to remove the paper, turn the stack over and put it back in the paper tray. „Cut the amount of paper in the paper tray, and then try again. „Make sure you use paper that meets KONICA MINOLTA recommended paper specifications. See About paper on page 6. „Load the same size paper that you selected in the current driver setting. Print Overrun„Press Go to print the remaining data in the printer memory. Troubleshooting 113 7 Error message printout7 The printer can also report problems by printing an error message. Use the table below to identify and clear the error message. The default setting for the error message printout is off. If you want to turn the error message printout on, from the Advanced tab of the Windows ® printer driver click the Other Print Options..., and then choose Error Message Printout. Troubleshooting 114 7 Paper handling7 First, make sure that you are using paper that meets KONICA MINOLTA recommended paper specifications. (See About paper on page 6.) ProblemRecommendation The printer does not feed paper.„If there is paper in the paper tray, make sure it is straight. If the paper is curled, straighten itbefore printing. Sometimes it is helpful to remove the paper. Turn the stack over and put it back in the paper tray. „Reduce the amount of paper in the paper tray, and then try again. „Make sure that manual feed mode is not chosen in the printer driver. „Clean the paper pick-up roller. See Cleaning the paper pick-up roller on page 106. The printer does not feed paper from the MP tray.„Fan the paper well and put it back in firmly. „Make sure that you have chosen the MP Tray in the Paper Source of the printer driver. The printer does not feed envelopes.„The printer can feed envelopes from the multi-purpose tray. You must set up your application to print on the size of envelopes you are using. This is usually done in the page setup or document setup menu of your software. (See your application manual.) A paper jam has occurred.„Clear the jammed paper. (See Paper jams and how to clear them on page 115.) The printer does not print. „Make sure that the cable is connected to the printer. „Make sure the printer is powered on and that no error LEDs are lit on the printer control panel. „Make sure that you have chosen the correct printer driver. When printing on normal paper, it creases.„Change the printer driver setting in Media Type to a thin setting. Troubleshooting 115 7 Paper jams and how to clear them7 Jam MP tray / Tray1 / Tray2 / Tray3 / Inside7 If a paper jam occurs inside the MP tray or paper tray, the printer will flash the Paper LED as shown below. CAUTION After you have just used the printer, some internal parts of the printer will be extremely hot. To prevent injury, when you open the front cover or back cover (back output tray) of the printer, DO NOT touch the shaded parts shown in the illustration. If you do this, you may get burned. Clear the jammed paper as follows. If the jammed paper is removed completely by following the steps below, you can install the paper tray, and then close the front cover. The printer will resume printing automatically. If the printer does not start printing automatically, press Go. If the printer still does not start printing, check that all the remaining jammed paper has been removed from the printer. Then try printing again. Downloaded From ManualsPrinter.com Manuals
Troubleshooting 116 7 Note • Always remove all paper from the paper tray and straighten the stack when you add new paper. This helps prevent multiple sheets of paper from feeding through the printer at one time and prevents paper jams. • Please confirm that you have installed both a toner cartridge and a drum unit in the machine. If you have not installed a drum unit or have installed the drum unit improperly, then this may cause a paper jam in your KONICA MINOLTA machine. aOpen the front cover. bSlowly take out the drum unit and toner cartridge assembly. Troubleshooting 117 7 IMPORTANT We recommend that you put the drum unit and toner cartridge assembly on a piece of disposable paper or cloth in case you accidentally spill or scatter toner. To prevent damage to the printer caused by static electricity, DO NOT touch the electrodes shown in the illustration. cClose the front cover. Troubleshooting 118 7 ePull the jammed paper down and out of the printer. fPush down the blue lock lever and take the toner cartridge out of the drum unit. Clear the jammed paper if there is any inside the drum unit. IMPORTANT Handle the toner cartridge carefully. If toner scatters on your hands or clothes, wipe or wash it off with cold water at once. If you put the cartridge in properly, the blue lock lever will lift automatically. hOpen the front cover. Put the drum unit and toner cartridge assembly back in the printer. iPut the paper tray firmly back in the printer. jClose the front cover. kMake sure that the Paper LED is off and then, the Status LED lights green.
