TAMPER-RESISTANT SCREW Warning: This appliance is equipped with a tamper-resistant screw to prevent removal of the outer cover. To reduce the risk of fire or electric shock, do not attempt to remove the outer cover. There are no user-serviceable parts inside. Repair should be done only by authorized service personnel. 67 How to Use This product is for household use only. GETTING STARTED • Remove all packing material and, if applicable, any stickers from the product; remove and save literature. • Please go to www.prodprotect.com/applica to register your warranty; for additional information go to www.juiceman.com. • Wash all removable parts as instructed in CARE AND CLEANING. This will remove any traces of dust or residue left from manufacturing and shippin\ g. Important: The blades on the attachments are extremely sharp. Use caution when handling. • Wipe motor body with a damp cloth or sponge to remove any dust. Mild dish soap may be used, but avoid abrasive cleaners. Wipe dry with a soft clot\ h or paper towels. Important: Do not rinse or immerse motor body in water or any other liquid. CONNECTING THE ATTACHMENTS Always be sure the appliance is unplugged before connecting or removing \ any attachments. Blending & Whisk Attachments • To attach the blending or whisk attachment, insert the attachment so the UNLOCK symbol on the attachment is lined up to the dash on the motor body. • Turn the attachment until the two pieces are lined up in the LOCK position (B). • To remove the attachment, twist until the UNLOCK symbol on the attachment is lined up with the dash on the motor body. Pull the pieces apart. Chopping Workbowl • Holding the chopping/grinding blade by the center post; insert it, blade down, into the workbowl (C). Important: The chopping blade is extremely sharp. Use caution when handling. • Place the lid on top of the workbowl. • Place the motor body over the lid so that the UNLOCK symbol on the workbowl is lined up with the dash on the motor body. • Turn counterclockwise until the two pieces are lined up in the LOCK position (D). • To remove the motor body, twist the handle clockwise until the UNLOCK symbol on the workbowl is lined up with the dash on the motor body. Lift off the motor body and remove the lid of the workbowl. SELECTING A SPEED 1. Select a speed – from 1 to 5 – using the speed control dial on the top of the motor body (E). Note: The speed can be changed at any time whether the appliance is turned on or off. 2. Press the POWER button to turn the blender ON at the selected speed. The blender turns OFF when the button is released (F). Note: To pulse, press and release the POWER button at 5-second intervals. 3. For an extra burst of power while blending, there is a POWER BOOST button just below the Power button. This feature allows the appliance to increase speed and maneuver through thicker mixtures. The appliance will turn OFF when this button is released (G). USING THE ATTACHMENTS Using the Blending Attachment This attachment is used for blending a variety of foods, including soups\ , sauces, salad dressings and powdered drinks into a smooth mixture without lumps \ directly in the sauce pan, measuring cup, beaker or bowl. This appliance\ mixes, blends, purees and stirs while adding very little air to the mixture. B C D E F G
89 1. With the blending attachment in place, plug the appliance into a standar\ d electrical outlet. 2. Adjust to the desired speed by turning the speed control dial on top of \ the motor body. 3. Insert the hand blender into the mixture to be blended; be sure the blade is below the surface of the food. Use your other hand to hold the pot, pan,\ bowl or beaker in place. Important: If pureeing or blending hot foods, remove from the burner and allow the food to cool for a few minutes before using the blender in the hot mixture. Caution: Keep electrical cord away from any heat source. Note: Do not immerse the blender into any mixture that comes above the seam of the blending attachment. Do not immerse the motor body into any liqui\ d or food mixture. 4. Press the POWER button (H). 5. Use a circular motion to move the appliance around the mixture. Use an up and down motion to blend all the ingredients. Important: To avoid splashing, always keep the blades below the surface of the mixture. 6. When blending is complete, release the POWER button. Wait for the blades to stop rotating. Lift the hand blender from the mixture. 7. Unplug the appliance before removing the blending attachment or changing\ to another attachment. Important: The blades are extremely sharp. Use caution when handling. Using the Whisk Attachment This attachment is used for whipping cream, beating eggs and egg whites \ and mixing sauces and puddings. 1. With the whisk attachment in place, plug the appliance into a standard electrical outlet. 2. Adjust to the desired speed by turning the speed control dial on top of \ the motor body. Tip: When using this attachment, it is better to start at a lower speed and gradually increase as the mixture begins to thicken. 3. Insert the whisk into the mixture to be blended. Use other hand to hold \ the cooking bowl or measuring cup in place. Note: Do not immerse the blender into any mixture that comes above the seam of the whisk attachment. Do not immerse the motor body into any liquid o\ r food mixture. 4. Press the POWER button. 5. Use a circular motion to move the appliance around the mixture. Use an \ up and down motion to blend all the ingredients and obtain a smooth mixture\ . Important: To avoid splashing, always keep the whisk below the surface of the mixture. H 6. When blending is complete, release the POWER button. Wait for the whisk to stop rotating. Lift the hand blender from the mixture. 7. Unplug the appliance before removing the whisk attachment or changing to\ another attachment. Using the Chopping Workbowl 1. Place the workbowl on a flat surface or countertop. 2. Follow directions above in assembling the workbowl and blade, placing fo\ od to be processed in the workbowl as you assemble. 3. Use one hand to hold the workbowl in place by the handle. With the other\ hand press the POWER button for 5 to 10 seconds at a time. Allow blades to come to complete stop before pressing the POWER button again. Process until mixture has achieved the desired consistency. 4. To stop the appliance, release the POWER button. 5. Wait for the blades to stop rotating. Lift off the motor body and remove the lid; remove the blade by the center post. Important: The chopping blades are extremely sharp. Use caution when handling. Important: Do not operate without having food in the workbowl. 6. Using a rubber spatula, remove food from the workbowl. 7. Unplug appliance when not is use.
1011 POPULAR USES OF THE CHOPPING WORKBOWL Note: Use pulsing action to control size of finished pieces. INGREDIENT DIRECTIONS Fresh or dry white, whole wheat, French or egg bread Process about 1 cup (2 slices) to desired consistency. Chocolate Chill chocolate, cut in ½-inch pieces, in freezer for about 10 minutes before processing 1 to 2 oz. Hard cheese (Parmesan, Asiago, Romano or Manchego) Process ¾ cup cut into ½-inch cubes. Fresh herbs Process up to 1 cup dry herbs; place in center of paper towel and bring edges together. Hold closed and let cold water fully soak towel; wring dry and use immediately or store in closed container up to 3 days. Raw vegetables Process up to 1 cup cut into ½-inch pieces. Nuts Process about ½ cup to desired consistency. For enhanced flavor, toast nuts before chopping. Care and Cleaning This product contains no user serviceable parts. Refer service to qualif\ ied service personnel. CLEANING 1. Always make sure hand blender is unplugged before cleaning. 2. All removable parts – not the motor body – can be washed in the di\ shwasher, top-rack only, or by hand in warm, soapy water. Note: Although they are dishwasher-safe, we recommend washing all plastic parts by hand to help maintain their appearance. 3. Always rinse and dry parts thoroughly when hand-washing. 4. Wipe the motor body with a damp cloth or sponge and dry thoroughly. Important: Never immerse the motor body in water or any other liquid. TROUBLESHOOTING Food is unevenly chopped • Workbowl is overfilled. • You may be using too much power. • Food may be cut in random sizes. • Use smaller amounts to process more evenly and don’t fill the workbowl past the MAX fill line. • Pulse using the POWER button at 5-second intervals. Allow the blades to stop completely between pulses. • Cut food in same size pieces before placing in processor. Hand blender is not running • Appliance may not be plugged in. • Parts may not be correctly attached. • Check to see if appliance is plugged into a working outlet. • Be sure all parts are properly aligned following the instructions in CONNECTING ATTACHMENTS.
1213 RECIPES DRINKS MANGO RASPBERRY FIZZ ¾ cup pineapple mango juice ¾ cup raspberry sorbet ½ cup frozen sliced peaches Cold club soda Mint sprigs Place pineapple juice, sorbet and peaches in beaker in order listed. Att\ ach blending attachment to the motor body. Insert into beaker below the surf\ ace of the mixture. Select speed to be used (we suggest speed 3). Press PO\ WER button and move the blender using an up and down motion inside the beake\ r to incorporate all ingredients. Blend until smooth. Fill tall beverage glasses half full with raspberry mixture; top of with club soda. Stir to blend. Garnish with mint sprig. Makes 2 to 3 drinks. MIxED BERRY SLUSH 1 cup orange juice ½ cup frozen mixed berries ½ cup mango sorbet Place ingredients in beaker in order listed. Attach blending attachment \ to motor body. Insert into beaker below the surface of the mixture. Select speed \ to be used (we suggest speed 3). Press POWER button and move the blender using an up and down motion inside the beaker to incorporate all ingredients. \ Blend until smooth. Makes 2 cups. PEACHBERRY COOLER 1 cup cran-raspberry drink ½ cup ice cubes ½ cup fresh raspberries ½ cup peach sorbet Place ingredients in beaker in order listed. Attach blending attachment \ to the motor body. Insert into beaker below the surface of the mixture. Select \ speed to be used (we suggest speed 3). Press POWER button and move the blender using an up and down motion inside the beaker to incorporate all ingredi\ ents. Blend until smooth. Makes 2 cups. VERY BERRY SHAKE 1½ cups milk 1 cup vanilla ice cream 1 medium banana, cut in pieces 1 cup frozen mixed berries Place milk, ice cream, banana and berries into the beaker in the order l\ isted. Attach blending attachment to the motor body. Insert into beaker below t\ he surface of the mixture. Select speed to be used (we suggest speed 4). \ Press POWER button and move the blender using an up and down motion inside the beaker to incorporate all ingredients. Blend until smooth. Makes about 3½ cups.

(8 oz,) cream cheese, softened 1 can (16 oz.) black beans, rinsed and drained ½ cup coarsely chopped red pepper 3 green onions, cut in 1½-inch pieces 2 cloves garlic 1 jalapeno, seeds and filament removed 2 tbsp. cilantro leaves 1 can (8 oz.) whole kernel corn, drained Tortilla chips Add all ingredients, except tortilla chips into workbowl. Place lid on w\ orkbowl and attach motor body. Select speed to be used (we suggest speed 4). P\ ress POWER button and blend until mixture is smooth and well blended. Makes about 2 cups. ROASTED RED PEPPER HUMMUS 1 can (16 oz.) chick peas, rinsed and drained 2 large cloves garlic 1 jarred roasted red pepper ¼ cup tahini (sesame paste) ½ tsp. ground cumin ½ tsp. salt ¼ cup fresh lemon juice ¼ cup olive oil Warm pitas Add all ingredients, except pitas into workbowl. Place lid on workbowl. \ Attach motor body. Select speed to be used (we suggest speed 4). Press POWER \ button and blend until mixture is smooth and well blended. Makes about 1¼ cups. DRESSINGS ASIAGO C AESAR DRESSING 1 egg, slightly beaten ½ cup grated Asiago cheese ¼ cup lemon juice 2 large garlic cloves 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce 2 tsp. anchovy paste ¼ tsp. coarsely ground pepper ½ cup olive oil Add all ingredients except olive oil into workbowl. Place lid on workbow\ l and attach motor body. Select speed to be used (we suggest speed 3). Press\ POWER button and mix until well blended. Remove motor body and lid and add th\ e oil. Replace lid and motor body. Continue blending until mixture is smoo\ th and evenly blended. Makes about 1¼ cups dressing LEMON LIME VINAIGRETTE 2 tbsp. fresh lemon juice 2 tbsp. fresh lime juice 1 tsp. freshly grated orange peel 2 sprigs fresh mint leaves 1 tsp. balsamic vinegar 2 tbsp. honey ½ cup salad oil Add all ingredients into beaker. Attach blending attachment to motor bod\ y. Insert into beaker. Select speed to be used (we suggest speed 3). Press POWER\ button and move the blender inside the beaker to incorporate all ingredi\ ents. Blend until smooth. Serve on salad greens. Makes about ¾ cups.
1617 SOUPS CARROT BISqUE 1 leek (white and light green part only) ½ cup chopped red pepper 1 tbsp. butter or margarine 2 cup sliced carrots 1 tsp. sugar ½ tsp. red curry ½ tsp. salt 3 cups vegetable broth 1 tsp. fresh lemon juice Snipped chives In a saucepan, cook leek and red pepper in butter until tender, stirring\ often. Add remaining ingredients, except chives. Bring to boil. Reduce heat and\ simmer for 20 minutes until vegetables are tender and mixture is well bl\ ended. Remove from heat; cover and let stand several minutes. Attach blending attachment to the motor body. Insert into saucepan makin\ g sure cutting blade is below the surface of the soup. Select speed to be \ used (we suggest speed 3). Press POWER button and move the blender inside the saucepan to incorporate all ingredients. Blend until smooth. Serve garnished with chives. Makes about 7 cups. C AULIFLOWER SPINACH BISqUE 2 medium leeks, halved and sliced 1 tbsp. butter or margarine 1 medium head cauliflower, broken into florets (about 6 cups) 4 cups chicken broth or stock 1 tsp. salt ¼ tsp seasoned pepper 2 cups loosely packed spinach leaves 1 tsp. freshly grated nutmeg ½ cup heavy cream Sour Cream Thinly sliced green onions In a large saucepan, cook leeks in butter over medium heat, stirring fre\ quently until leeks are softened. Add cauliflower, chicken broth, salt and peppe\ r. Bring to boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes. Add spinach and nutmeg. Coo\ k 5 minutes longer. Remove from heat; cover and let sauce stand several minutes. Attach blending attachment to motor body. Insert into saucepan making su\ re cutting blade is below the surface of the soup. Select speed to be used\ (suggest 3). Press POWER button and move the blender inside the saucepan to incorporate all ingredients. Process until smooth. Return saucepan to he\ at. Stir in cream and heat, stirring until heated through. Serve garnished with sour cream and green onions. Makes about 8 cups.
1819 FRESH TOMATO SOUP 1 medium onion, coarsely chopped (about ¾ cup) ½ cup chopped green pepper ½ cup coarsely chopped celery 1 large clove garlic 2 lbs. fresh tomatoes, peeled 4 cups chicken stock ¼ cup tomato paste 1 tsp. sugar ½ tsp. salt ½ cup heavy cream Grated Parmesan cheese In a saucepan, combine all ingredients, except cheese. Bring to boil. Re\ duce heat and simmer for 20 minutes until vegetables are tender and mixture i\ s well blended. Remove from heat; cover and let stand several minutes. Attach blending attachment to the motor body. Insert into saucepan makin\ g sure cutting blade is below the surface of the soup. Select speed to be \ used (we suggest speed 3). Press POWER button and move the blender inside the saucepan to incorporate all ingredients. Blend until smooth. Serve garnished with cheese. Makes about 8 cups. SPLIT PEA BISqUE 1 cup coarsely chopped potatoes 1 cup coarsely chopped carrots 1 cup coarsely chopped celery 1 large onion, coarsely chopped 3 large cloves garlic, coarsely chopped 2 tbsp. butter or margarine 1 bag (14 oz.) green split peas, sorted and rinsed 4 cups chicken stock or broth 4 cups vegetable juice 1 tsp. salt ¼ tsp coarsely ground pepper Croutons In a large saucepan, cook potatoes, carrots, celery, onion and garlic in\ butter, stirring frequently until onion is softened. Add peas, broth, juice, sal\ t and pepper. Bring to boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes until vegetables a\ re tender and soup is thickened. Remove from heat; cover and let stand several minutes. Attach blending attachment to the motor body. Insert into saucepan makin\ g sure cutting blade is below the surface of the soup. Select speed to be \ used (we suggest speed 3). Press POWER button and move the blender inside the saucepan to incorporate all ingredients. Blend until smooth. Serve garnished with croutons. Makes about 10 cups.
