Guidelines for using paper For best results, make sure the paper is of good quality, and free of cuts, nicks, tears, spots, loose particles, dust, wrinkles, voids, and curled or bent edges. If you are unsure what type of paper you are loading (such as bond or recycled), check the label on the package of paper. For a complete list of supported media, see Supported sizes of print media. Clearing jams If a jam message appears on the printer control-panel display, look for jammed paper or other print media in the locations that are indicated in the figure below. Then see the procedure for clearing the jam. You might need to look for media in other locations than those that are indicated in the jam message. To clear jams from the top-cover and print-cartridge areas 1. Open the top cover and remove the print cartridge. CAUTIONTo prevent damage to the print cartridge, do not expose it to light for more than a few minutes. Cover the print cartridge with a sheet of paper while it is outside of the printer. 2.
