ServermanagementthroughIPMIversion2.0compliantapplications ServermanagementthroughtheIPMIisastandardizedmethodforcontrollingandmonitoringthe server.iLO2providesservermanagementbasedontheIPMIversion2.0specification. ConfiguringtheIPaddress ThisstepisnecessaryonlyifyouareusingastaticIPaddress.WhenusingdynamicIPaddressing, yourDHCPserverautomaticallyassignsanIPaddressforiLO2.Tosimplifyinstallation,HP recommendsusingDNSorDHCPwithiLO2. ToconfigureastaticIPaddress,usetheiLO2RBSUwiththefollowingproceduretodisableDNS andDHCPandconfiguretheIPaddressandthesubnetmask: 1.Restartorpowertheserveron. 2.PresstheF8keywhenpromptedduringPOST.TheiLO2RBSUruns. 3.SelectNetwork>DNS/DHCP,presstheEnterkey,andthenselectDHCPEnable. 4.PressthespacebartoturnoffDHCP.BesurethatDHCPEnableissettoOff,andthensave thechanges. 5.SelectNetwork>NIC>TCP/IP,presstheEnterkey,andthenentertheappropriateinformation intheIPAddress,SubnetMask,andGatewayIPAddressfields. 6.Savethechanges. 7.ExitiLO2RBSU.ThechangestakeeffectwhenyouexitiLO2RBSU. LoggingintoiLO2forthefirsttime TheiLO2firmwareisconfiguredwithadefaultusername,password,andDNSname.Default userinformationislocatedontheiLO2NetworkSettingstagattachedtotheservercontaining theiLO2managementprocessor.UsethesevaluestoaccessiLO2remotelyfromanetworkclient usingastandardWebbrowser. Forsecurityreasons,HPrecommendschangingthedefaultsettingsafterloggingintoiLO2for thefirsttime. Thedefaultvaluesare: •Username–Administrator •Password–Arandom,eight-character,alphanumericstring •DNSName–ILOXXXXXXXXXXXX whereXXXXXXXXXXXXrepresentstheserialnumberoftheserver NOTE:Usernamesandpasswordsarecasesensitive. Ifyouenteranincorrectusernameandpassword,oraloginattemptfails,theniLO2imposesa securitydelay.Formoreinformationonloginsecurity,see“Loginsecurity”(page44).
