When the ignition switch is turned ON, the
display will temporarily show all the
modes and digital segments so you can
make sure the liquid crystal display is
f unctioning properly.
The displays are identif ied in the table on
page with the words:
If any part of these displays does not come
on when it should, have your Honda dealer
check for problems.25

Lamp Check. PGM-FI malf unction
indicator lamp (MIL)
(red) 6 Lights when there is any abnormality in the PGM-FI
(Programmed Fuel Injection) system. Should also
light f or a f ew seconds and then go of f when the
ignition switch is turned ON and the engine stop
switch is at RUN. If the indicator comes on at any
other time, reduce speed and take your motorcycle to
a Honda dealer as soon as possible.

operation may damage the engine. Do not let the
tachometer rpm display enter the red zone. Shows riding speed in miles or kilometers per hour

push and hold the reset switch f or more than 2
seconds (page ).30

The display has three f unctions:
odometer, tripmeter and digital clock.
Push the mode switch ( ) to select
‘‘TOTAL’’ (odometer) ( ), ‘‘TRIP A’’
(tripmeter A) ( ), ‘‘TRIP B’’ (tripmeter
B) ( ) and ‘‘CLOCK’’ (digital clock) ( )
mode. The tripmeter ( ) shows number of miles
or kilometers ridden since you last reset
the meter.
The tripmeter has two sub modes, A and B. The odometer ( ) shows the total miles or
kilometers ridden.1
