If you see a missing profile screen, select Leave as is (don’t color manage). 3. Select File > Print or Print with Preview . 4. In the Print window, click the Show More Options checkbox (if necessary), then choose Color Management in the drop-down menu. 5. Select the print quality desired: Photo (1440 × 720 dpi), Best Photo (1440 × 1440 dpi), or PhotoRPM (5760 × 1440 dpi). 11. Turn off the High Speed and Edge Smoothing options, if they are available. 12. Click the ICM button under Color Management and select Off (No Color Adjustment) . 13. Click OK. 14. Click OK or Print to print. 15. Repeat these steps to print a test target for each paper type and Quality Option setting you plan to print with. Creating a Custom Profile If you’re creating a custom profile for your printer, follow the instructions provided with your profile-building software (such as MonacoPROFILER by X-Rite or GretagMacbeth ® ProfileMaker) to create your custom profile using the test target you printed. Once you create the profile, be sure to place it in the correct folder on your computer, as recommended by Microsoft or Apple. ® IMPORTANT! Select ICM, then select Off (No Color Adjustment)
Printing Special Photos63 Easy Printing With Photoshop Elements 3.0 If you are using Adobe Photoshop Elements 3.0 with Windows, you can take advantage of the Epson EasyPrint interface when you’re ready to print. It lets you select your basic settings directly from the Print window, so you don’t need to open the Properties or Preferences window to access the printer driver. This one-stop printing feature also prevents conflicts between software and driver settings by making them both match. Complete instructions for using Adobe Photoshop Elements 3.0 are provided in the Getting Started Guide installed with Photoshop Elements. Follow these steps to open Elements and access the EasyPrint interface: 1. To start the program, double-click the Adobe Photoshop Elements 3.0 icon on your desktop. 2. Select View and Organize Photos. You see the Photo Browser workspace and Organizer at the top of the screen. 3. Open the folder containing the photo(s) you want to print. Select Get Photos from the File menu and choose an option such as From Files and Folders. Then select the photo(s). If you need to edit a photo, go to step 4. If you are ready to print, go to step 5. 4. To edit a photo, click the Edit button and choose either Go To Quick Fix or Go To Standard Edit . When you finish editing and are ready to print, click Photo Browser to return to Organizer mode. Do not print from Editor mode. Note: If you print in Editor mode, you do not see the Epson EasyPrint interface. To access the printer settings, click File > Print > Print >, select your printer, and then click Properties.

65 Printing on CDs and DVDs Your printer includes a special tray that lets you print customized text, graphics, and photos directly on any ink jet printable CD or DVD. The Epson Print CD software makes it easy to import your own photos, add text, and modify your designs with a variety of special effects. You can print on both regular 12-cm discs and 8-cm mini CDs. Caution: Use only ink jet-printable CDs or DVDs for printing. Do not use thermal-printable or regular CDs or DVDs. You can order CDs and DVDs with an ink jet printable surface from your local retailer or a website such as www.pcmall.com, www.cdw.com, www.americaL.com, www.zones.com, www.macconnection.com, and www.pcconnection.com. Follow the steps in these sections to print on your CDs or DVDs: ■“Cleaning the Roller” on page 66 ■“Inserting a CD or DVD” on page 66 ■“Printing Your Design” on page 69 ■“Adjusting the Print Position” on page 70 ■“Adjusting the Print Density” on page 71
66Printing on CDs and DVDs Cleaning the Roller Before you print on CDs or DVDs, you may need to clean the roller inside the printer. You can do this by feeding and ejecting several sheets of plain paper. 1. Open the output tray and extension. 2. Open the paper support and pull up the support extensions. 3. Turn on the printer and load several sheets of letter-size paper. 4. Press the )paper button to feed the paper. 5. Press the )paper button again to eject the paper. 6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 several times to completely clean the roller. Inserting a CD or DVD Make sure the data, music, or video is burned on your ink jet printable CDs or DVDs before you print. Otherwise, dirt or scratches on the surface may cause errors when you burn the data. If you plan to print large numbers of CDs or DVDs, it’s a good idea to print a small sample, then wait a day and check the quality to make sure it is satisfactory. If you want to check the print position or color before printing on your actual CD or DVD, see “Adjusting the Print Position” on page 70 or “Adjusting the Print Density” on page 71. 1. Turn on the printer. Note: Before you insert a CD or DVD, make sure the printer is turned on. Otherwise, the disc may not be positioned correctly. 2. Remove any paper from the sheet feeder, then push in the paper support extensions and close the paper support. 3. If the output tray and extension are open, push them in, but leave the flap at the end of the tray down.

68Printing on CDs and DVDs 6. Place the CD or DVD on the CD tray with the white or printable side face-up. To print on a small CD (8 cm), place the small CD ring on the tray first, then place the CD inside the ring. Caution: Make sure you always use the small CD ring when printing 8-cm CDs and that the CD and ring lay flat on the tray; otherwise the printer may be damaged. 7. Slide the tray into the CD/DVD tray guide. Push in the tray until the arrows on the tray and the tray guide are aligned, as shown below. 8. Press the )paper button to load the CD or DVD into printing position. It is loaded when the Ppower button stops flashing. 9. Use Epson Print CD to design your CD or DVD (for instructions, see the on-screen Help), then print your CD or DVD, following the instructions below. Always use this piece with 8-cm CDs Push in only until the arrows are next to each other
Printing on CDs and DVDs69 Printing Your Design After you have created your design and loaded a CD or DVD, you’re ready to print. Note: If you’re using a hub-printable CD or DVD, you may want to adjust the print area. Measure the printable area of your CD or DVD, then open the File menu, select Inner/Outer Diameter Settings, and adjust the measurements. For information on designing CDs and DVDs, see the Epson Print CD on-screen Help. 1. Start Epson Print CD, if necessary, and open your design file. 2. Open the File menu and select Print. 3. Make sure EPSON Stylus Photo R1800 is selected, then click Print. The printer prints your CD or DVD and ejects it on the tray. Note: After you print, handle the CD or DVD carefully. To allow the ink to dry fully, wait at least 24 hours before playing the disc or inserting it in a drive. Keep printed discs away from moisture and direct sunlight. If you need to adjust the print position or color, see the instructions for “Adjusting the Print Position” on page 70 and “Adjusting the Print Density” on page 71. Macintosh Windows
70Printing on CDs and DVDs Adjusting the Print Position If your printed images and text are not positioned the way you want, you may need to adjust the printing position. Use the blank cardboard position check disk included with your printer or an extra CD. You can also use these steps to check the position before you print on a CD or DVD. 1. Place the position check disk (or an extra ink jet printable CD) on the CD tray and insert it into the printer, as described on page 66. 2. Start Epson Print CD. 3. Select Print from the File menu. 4. Make sure EPSON Stylus Photo R1800 is selected, then click Print Position Confirmation Pattern (Windows) or Print Position Check Pattern (Macintosh). 5. Click Print. The confirmation pattern is printed on the position check disk or CD and the printer ejects the tray. Macintosh Windows
