Preparingyourgaragedoor Beforeyoubegin: •Disablelocks. •Removeanyropesconnectedtogaragedoor. •Completethefollowingtesttomakesureyour garagedoorisbalancedandisnotstickingor binding: 1.Liftthedoorabouthalfwayasshown.Release thedoor.Ifbalanced,itshouldstayinplace, supportedentirelybyitssprings. 2.Raiseandlowerthedoortoseeifthereisany bindingorsticking. Ifyourdoorbinds,sticks,orisoutofbalance,calla traineddoorsystemstechnician. SectionalDoor TopreventpossibleSERIOUSINJURYORDEATH: •ALWAYScallatraineddoorsystemstechnicianif garagedoorbinds,sticks,orisoutofbalance.An unbalancedgaragedoormaynotreversewhen required. •NEVERtrytoloosen,moveoradjustgaragedoor, doorsprings,cables,pulleys,bracketsortheir hardware,allofwhichareunderEXTREMEtension. •DisableALLlocksandremoveALLropesconnectedto garagedoorBEFOREinstallingandoperatinggarage dooropenertoavoidentanglement. Topreventdamagetogaragedoorandopener: •ALWAYSdisablelocksBEFOREinstallingand operatingtheopener. •ONLYoperategaragedooropenerat120V,60Hzto avoidmalfunctionanddamage. One-PieceDoor Toolsneeded Duringassembly,installationandadjustmentofthe opener,instructionswillcallforhandtoolsas illustratedbelow. Surveyyourgarageareatoseeifanyofthe conditionsbelowapplytoyourinstallation.Additional materialsmayberequired.Youmayfindithelpfulto referbacktothispageandtheaccompanying illustrationsasyouproceedwiththeinstallationof youropener. Dependingonyourrequirements,thereareseveral installationstepswhichmaycallformaterialsor hardwarenotincludedinthecarton. •InstallationStep1-Lookatthewallorceiling abovethegaragedoor.Theheaderbracketmust besecurelyfastenedtostructuralsupports. •InstallationStep5-Doyouhaveafinishedceiling inyourgarage?Ifso,asupportbracketand additionalfasteninghardwaremayberequired. •InstallationStep10-Dependingupongarage construction,extensionbracketsorwoodblocks maybeneededtoinstallsensors. •InstallationStep10-Alternatefloormountingof thesafetyreversingsensorwillrequirehardware notprovided. Doyouhaveanaccessdoorinadditiontothe garagedoor?Ifnot,Model53702OutsideQuick Releaseisrequired.SeeAccessoriespage. Lookatthegaragedoorwhereitmeetsthefloor. Anygapbetweenthefloorandthebottomofthe doormustnotexceed1/4(6mm).Otherwise,the safetyreversalsystemmaynotworkproperly.See AdjustmentStep3.Floorordoorshouldbe repaired. SECTIONALDOORINSTALLATIONS •Doyouhaveasteel,aluminum,fiberglassorglass paneldoor?Ifso,horizontalandvertical reinforcementisrequired(InstallationStep11). •Theopenershouldbeinstalledabovethecenterof thedoor.Ifthereisatorsionspringorcenter bearingplateinthewayoftheheaderbracket,it maybeinstalledwithin4feet(1.2m)totheleftor rightofthedoorcenter.SeeInstallationSteps1 and11. •Ifyourdoorismorethan7feet(2.1m)high,see railextensionkitslistedonAccessoriespage. ASSEMBLYSTEP4 InstalltheChain/Cable andAttachtheSprocketCover INSTALLINGTHECHAIN/CABLE 1.Pullthecableloopfromthe cartonandfastenittothe trolleywithamasterlinkfrom thehardwarebag(Figure1). •Pushpinsofmasterlinkbar LeaveChain& CableInside Dispensing Cartonto PreventKinking throughcableloopandholeKeepChainandCable infrontendoftrolley.TautWhenDispensing •Pushmasterlinkcapover pinsandpastpinnotches. •Slideclip-onspringovercapandontopin notchesuntilbothpinsaresecurelylockedin place. 2.Withthetrolleyagainstthescrewdriver,dispense thecablearoundthepulley. 3.Continuealongtherailandaroundthemotorunit sprocket(Figure2).Thesprocketteethmust engagethechain.Continueforwardtothetrolley threadedshaft. 4.Usethesecondmasterlinktoconnectthechainto theflatendoftheshaft(Figure1).Checktomake surethechainisnottwisted, 5.Removethescrewdriver. ATTACHINGTHESPROCKETCOVER Insertthebacktabintheslotonthebackofthe mountingplate.Squeezethecoverslightlyandinsert thefronttab(Figure3).
