    existent,havepistolexaminedbyacompetentgunsmithbeforefiringagain.
    Iffiringpinindentonprimerappearsnormal(incomparisonwithsimilar
    previouslyfiredrounds)assumefaultyammunition;segregatemisfiredround
    fromotherliveammunitionandemptycases,reloadandcarryonfiring.

    SlideLockSafety
    TheSlideLockSafetyislocatedontheleftrearofthepistoljustbelowtheslide.
    WithhammerfullycockedandSlideLockSafetyapplied,upperpartofSlide
    LockSafetyengagesslidelocknotchtopreventrearwardmovementofslide,
    whileaninternalcamsurfaceengagestheseartopreventforwardhammer
    movementwhentriggerissqueezed.Thissafetydevicecanbeappliedonly
    whentheslideisfullyforwardandhammerisfullycocked.
    ToapplySlideLockSafety,pointpistolinsafedirection,keepfingersoutside
    triggerguard,pullslidefullytorearandallowittoreturnsharplyforward,
    leavingthehammerinfullycockedposition.PressuponSlideLockSafety

    TheGripSafetyislocatedontheupperrearpartofthereceiver(SeeFigure1).
    TheGripSafetyisautomaticallyappliedbyspringactiontopreventrearward
    traveloftriggerunlesspistolgripisfirmlyandproperlygrasped.Thefrontofthe
    GripSafety(insidethepistolframe)contactsrearoftriggertopreventits
    rearwardmovement.Whenthepistolgripispositivelygrasped,theGripSafety
    isrotatedoutofcontactwithrearoftriggertoallowtriggermovement.

    SafetyStoponHammer
    TheSafetyStopisaflat,shelf-likesurfaceonthehammerwhichfunctionsas
    anautomaticsafetydevice.Itwillengagethesearintheunlikelyeventof
    primarysearnotchfailure.Thiswillpreventthehammerfromfallingfully
    forwardunintentionallyandwillinsureagainstuncontrolledautomaticfire.It
    alsopreventsthehammerfromstrikingthefiringpinshouldyourhandslipfrom
    theslideorhammerwhilecockingthepistol,providedthehammerisrotated
    pasttheSafetyStop.ItislocatedsuchthatwhenthesearengagestheSafety
    Stop,thesearcanbedisengagedbysqueezingthetriggertoallowthehammer
    tofallforward.Thehammerwillfallwhenyousqueezethetrigger.Itfalls
    becausethesearslidesovertheflatpartofthesafetystoptoreleasethe
    hammer.Thisisintentionalbutwillnotallowthepistoltofire.Itwillnotfire
    becausethehammerisalreadyalmostfullyforwardwhenitisreleasedfrom
    thesear.TheSafetyStopisnotamanualsafetyandshouldnotbeengaged

    iliCAUTION:CONTROLHAMMERWITHYOURTHUMBANDALWAYSPOINT
    PISTOLINASAFEDIRECTIONWHENSQUEEZINGTHETRIGGERTOLOWER
    THEHAMMER.Thiswillavoidaccidentalinjuryintheunlikelyeventofpistol
    discharge,butloweringthehammerinthiswayshouldbedoneonlywhen
    thechamberisempty.

    Disconnector
    Thissafetydevicepreventsaroundbeingfiredbeforeitisinthechamberwith
    slideandbarrellocked.WhenslideisnotfullyforwardtheDisconnectoris
    depressed;itslowerpartdisengagesthesear,sothatthehammercannotbe
    releasedifthetriggerissqueezed.However,whenslideandbarrelarelocked,
    aspringpushestheDisconnectorupintoarecessintheslide;thislinkstrigger
    *
    andsearsothatthepistolcanbefiredbysqueezingthetrigger.
    LUCAUTION:NEVERATTEMPTTOCHECKORDEMONSTRATETHE
    DISCONNECTORFUNCTIONWITHALOADEDPISTOL.Pushingonthe
    muzzlewithyourhandoranyotherportionofthebodyisextremelydanger-
    ousandcouldresultinaccidentaldischargecausinginjury,death,ordamage
    toproperty.
    InertiaFiringPin
    TheFiringPin,whichisshorterthanitshousing,isheldtotherearbyaspring
    andcannotprotrudethroughfaceofslideunlessahammerblowovercomesthe
    springforceandtheinertiaofthepin.
